M STREET NW FACADE

The penultimate assignement of the fall semester called students to become immersed in analyzing urban sites and context. This project aimed to redesign the facade of an existing retail store for a new bookstorewhile considering the historic architecture of Georgetown. The facade designed considered the historical context of its neighborhood by pulling inspiration from the traditional proportion of thirds in most traditional storefronts. However, contemporary elements are incorporated by adding an organic form curtain wall that acts as an inviting element into the bookstore. Overall, traditional & contemporary elements are unified through grid lines that can be found in the facade Software: Sketchup Enscape
