hat do you enjoy most about riding motorcycles? I love just being one with the road. Riding my motorcycle is therapeutic for me. It’s the one place where I can’t be reached for hours at a time. No cell phone connected to my radio, no one to talk to other than myself. It’s true “ME TIME”. I can just be in my thoughts and when I come off a motorcycle ride, I am totally REFRESHED!!!

How do you feel about the negative stigma that sometimes accompany bikers? I feel that the negative stigma placed on bikers is due to a lack of understanding of what bikers stand for. All Bikers, whether they are African American, White, Latino, or any other ethnicity, share one common theme: a love for the road, and a respect for life. There is no greater feeling than being on the road, free from the world and just the high that one experiences from the freedom of being one with the road. The media doesn’t publicize the many community service programs that motorcycle organizations sponsor to give back such as Feeding the Homeless, Family Day BBQ’s, Back Pack Give Aways and many other community focused events. As a professional, have you had any negative experiences with being a biker? I have been greeted with so much love and positivity on the “Bike Set” that I enjoy riding my motorcycle to professional functions and when the people see me riding away with my vest on, they later come up to me and say, “I didn’t know you rode motorcycles and were in a “motorcycle gang”. I politely respond, “Yes, I love riding my motorcycle and I especially love participating in the community service events my motorcycle organization, Kings of Cali MC sponsors here in the community, would you like to donate to our next event?” How do you separate your professional life with your extracurricular activities such as riding motorcycles? It’s hard to totally separate the two. I love my profession and I love riding my motorcycle. On the set my name became J-LAW after passing the bar exam and everyone knows me as the Kings of Cali Attorney. I share my travels on my motorcycle with my clients and it helps them to see me as a more well-rounded person and not just an attorney. I can engage with my clients on a more personal level and it helps foster a genuine professional relationship.
