Get Golfing CIO was incorporated on August 8th, 2018 as a charity to encourage the playing of golf. We have three trustees and an operational management team tasked with strategy and delivery.

As of 2023, across our 11 sites (soon to be 12) we have 250 salaried staff in addition to a variable seasonal staff of between 150 and 300. Annual revenues stand at c£17m with surpluses of c£2mplus. To date we have reinvested c£7m into our facilities.

What are Free School Meals?

For a child to be eligible for Free School Meals, they must live in a household which receives income-related benefits (such as universal credit) and has an annual income of less than £7,400 after tax, not including welfare payments. In June 2023, 1.9 million students across the UK were eligible to receive Free School Meals, which represents around 22% of the student population of the country.

What are Get Golfing doing to help?

We provide safe and inclusive venues that offer ‘Fun, Food and Golf’ to those within our local communities who would typically have barriers to participation in golf.

We pride ourselves in adopting local primary & special schools close to Get Golfing sites. Children from key stage 2 are selected by their teachers to receive this benefit. We will have 6 of our 12 sites hosting Monday Club from 1st September 2023.

Our facilities make a positive impact on local children’s wellbeing during the holidays, taking the worry and stress away from parents and carers. Get Golfing delivers amazing experiences through the hard work of the community team and our clubhouse staff.

Summer Camps this Summer?

FUN, FOOD & GOLF camps took place at 2 venues this summer with 850 places available through The Holiday Activities and Food Program.

The team delivered 120 hours of fun, golf and over 1,600 meals were provided. The families in attendance struggle to access hot healthy food during the holiday times so the fact we’re able to offer a hot meal is crucial.

We would like the provision to be rolled out across 3 more Get Golfing venues in October half term 2023 and over the Christmas holidays. We believe that this will impact the greatest number of children in our local communities.

What is our Monday Club?

Monday Club is an opportunity to get active and try a new sport as well as have a hot meal during term time.

Children attend at 4pm for an hour of golf followed by a hot dinner.

Our Monday Clubs currently run at 3 clubs and have seen 80 children attend each week from local adopted schools: -Redlibbets GC, Kent – Farnham Primary School -The Club at Mill Green, Hertfordshire – Commonswood -Warley Park GC, Essex – Corbetts Tey School in Upminster From 2023 Monday Clubs will be launching at Sherfield Oaks, Basingstoke, Pyrford Lakes, Surrey and Hampton Court Palace GC, Kingston Upon Thames.

The children are selected by our partner schools for a variety of reasons, but most are in receipt of FSM or have SEND status.

What is the cost to running Monday Clubs and Summer Camps?

We budget £30 per child on a four-hour summer camp that provides breakfast golf and hot lunch per child, and events can cost around £400-£500, depending on the number of children signed up to each event. We will be providing baseball caps and polo shirts to our kids this summer to make them feel like golfers.

We budget £10 per child to attend a 4 - 5.30pm Monday Club which in term-time (1 hour's golf and a hot meal). We then offer free places on our junior golf sessions that run weekly and we provide all equipment they would need.

On average, we have 80 children attend across the three sites, so the cost to the business is circa £800 per event.
