Greetings 2025 State Golf qualifiers, coaches, and families! We are excited to welcome you to Scottsbluff-Gering for the NSAA Class B Girls State Golf Championship. Your host committee congratulates you on your individual and team accomplishments this year.
We are thrilled to highlight the beauty of Western Nebraska and promise players, teams and coaches challenging and memorable rounds at the scenic course at Scotts Bluff Country Club.
In between play, we encourage you to try a new restaurant, shop our downtown areas, visit our attractions and let the beauty and history of Western Nebraska come alive during your stay on the Oregon Trail.
After the 2025 Class B Championship rounds, we look forward to welcoming you back to our region for summer events in 2026 and for the NSAA Class B State Golf Championships next year at Monument Shadows Golf Course in Gering.

Serving fine dining, Mexican cuisine; Ole’s is a family-owned establishment that featuring inviting décor, expansive-creative menu of Tex-Mex options. Super-friendly staff and fabulous service is what visitors appreciate most at Ole’s. Locals recommend the tasty Queso & Chips, Fajitas, Fish Tacos and Sopapillas for dessert.

Flyover
As the first brewery in Western Nebraska featuring uniquely wood-fired cuisine where everything is baked in an Italian pizza oven. Appetizers, bomber wings, salads, unique wood fired pizzas and incredible desserts. Locals recommend handmade Pretzels with Flyover Helles Beer Cheese dip and the Prosciutto Pizza with Balsamic Glaze.

Casual, Italian restaurant that’s all about family and fund. Made from scratch New York style pizzas, pastas, salads, calzones and Stromboli. Locals recommend the Carnivore Calzone and the Sriracha Chicken Spinach Pizza.

Over 50 years of homemade goodness in Western Nebraska featuring a creative twist on TexMex cuisine. Large, award-winning menu that has drawn national attention with features in NPR’s “Splendid Table”, “Gourmet Magazine” and “500 Things to Eat Before It’s Too Late”. Locals recommend the Ponchos with Puffy Chips, Original Taco Salad and Shredded Beef Tacos.

The Steel Grill Steakhouse – 2800 N. 10th Street – Gering – (308) 633.1020
Locally raised certified Angus beef is the signature of this casual restaurant with a large menu and eclectic décor. Steaks, burgers, pasta and seafood. Locals recommend the “Steak Nachos”; a mound of grilled steak with all the trimmings on homemade chips or spuddies (it’s definitely an entrée to share).

Monument Grill –
With the best views of Scotts Bluff National Monument and located at Monument Shadows Golf Course; a casual dining experience for lunch or dinner featuring wraps, burgers, steaks, seafood and Scarpinos gourmet pizzas. Locals recommend the Slow Roasted Prime Rib with all the trimmings and the Valhalla Pizza.

Home cooked, elevated food-dining-destination for breakfast and lunch. From a creative twist on eggs Benedict to gourmet burgers, authentic German cuisines and specialty pastries made daily. Locals recommend Green Chile Biscuits and Gravy, Cabbage Burgers and homemade donuts.

Located west of Gering, the Bluff rises 800 feet above the river and became a famous natural landmark and resting place for pioneers on their way to Oregon and California. The roadbed carved by their wagons is still visible. Visitors can drive or hike to the summit of Scotts Bluff and enjoy the panoramic view of the North Platte River Valley.
The Visitors Center is currently closed for remodeling, but traditionally displays geology of the area and paintings of William Henry Jackson. Over 4 miles of hiking trails.

The Wildcat Hills offer 3 ½ miles of trails perfect for hiking or biking. Whatever the time of year, you’ll be amazed at the close views of birds and wildlife.
The Wildcat Hills Shooting Sports Complex is a family-friendly shooting sports education center. Features archery, pellet, shotgun and rifle ranges. It provides educational programming and instruction. Equipment rental is available.

The Legacy of the Plains Museum is a destination for those interested in stories of human and ag history in the Platte Valley.
Their state-of-the-art, interactive exhibits focus on the archeology of Native Americans and Westward Expansion, the lives of pioneering settlers, development or rural communities, diversity of cultures on the High Plains, and the innovative technologies and cultural practices of raising animals and crops in a semi-arid environment.

This is the single most noted landmark on the Oregon Trail. Chimney Rock could be seen from far out on the plains and it signaled that the second phase, the difficult mountain passage was near.
The National Historic Site is located 19 miles east of Gering. The Visitors Center/Museum is open year-round.
