During the winter of 1976....so the story goes, a motorcyclist is riding to work at an aeronautical machine shop. It’s cold, wet and blustery. The faster he goes, the colder he feels. Shop owner and engineer, Gordon Gerbing watches him shamble in and is inspired. Gerbing Heated Clothing is born.

Over the last 40 years Gerbing has been developing self-heating technology to overcome cold at speed. Whether you’re jumping out of an airplane at 10,000 feet, carving the slope downhill at 30 miles-per-hour or riding your bike in the depth of winter, Gerbing delivers the highest performance and most distinctive designs in the outerwear market.

Our human bodies constantly give off heat. Consequently, the layer of air surrounding our skin forms something similar to an invisible, heated “air jacket.”

However, when air flows around us, due to us moving through it or it blowing past us, this warm-air jacket gets quickly dispelled. The faster the air moves, the less of a chance we have to recreate the warm-air jacket – therefore the colder we feel! During summer months, the use of riding kit makes this phenomenon all but irrelevant. However, during the winter months even the best clothing will struggle to maintain this envelope of warm air around you. Gerbing Heated Clothing artificially introduces a new and warmer air jacket around your skin that is constantly replaced, even at high speeds when the windchill is increased, making your journey more comfortable and arguably safer.

To illustrate this more clearly, when riding a motorcycle at 100 km/h in an ambient temperature of 0ºC, the windchill factor results in a temperature equivalent to -11ºC! Reaction times at this temperature are considerably slower and this, in turn, could make all the difference in an emergency situation.

All of our garments for this season now incorporate our NEW patented Gerbing MicroWirePRO® Heating Wire. This revolutionary new heating wire is our strongest and warmest heating wire ever, yet virtually impossible to detect. Gerbings’ Flagship product has been re-designed for winter 2020 and is now better than ever. The 2020 MicroWirePRO® Jacket still retains all of the fantastic features of the old model but now offers customers a more tailored fit with even more or our patented heating wire distributed throughout the front and back of the jacket, the collar and the sleeves.. A stretch material down each side of the body and the inside of each arm ensures an extremely comfortable snug fit, but with full stretch to preventing the chances of bulking under your outer jacket. The heated jacket has 3 input connections situated inside the front pocket: The 1st plug draws the power for the heated jacket. The 2nd is the power draw plug for Gerbing MicroWirePRO® heated gloves which can be connected to the sleeves of the jacket. The third plug is the accessory plug which can be connected to your heated trousers and/or heated socks.

Designed to replace your existing jacket liner, Our MicroWirePRO® jacket liner with it's unique heating system allows you to wear your existing outerwear whilst providing an even distribution of warmth throughout the body. We recommend this jacket is worn with a long-sleeved base layer underneath. New in our range for this season is the Basic Jacket Liner.

Based on our Premium Jacket but without all the frills! The fundamental difference between the two is that the Basic model will NOT power gloves and/or accessories. There is only one wiring circuit contained within the jacket which heats itself and nothing else. It has 1 input connections situated in an inside pocket. You will also see that the basic jacket Liner does not feature any additional pockets. However, like the Premium Jacket it is heated on the front back, arms and collar. This jacket comes supplied with a simple controller allowing you to adjust the temperature to suit. The controller has 2 default regular heat output settings; 25% and 50% and two locked settings; 75% and 100%.

These settings are locked to protect the user against possible injuries. There is a risk of over-heating if using the 75% and 100% output setting in milder conditions. In colder climate conditions the user may decide to use these settings.

After connection to power source - Press button to switch unit on. The BLUE (25%) light will show. Press button again to change output setting. GREEN (50%).

To unlock AMBER (75%) setting – press and hold button for 10 seconds and the controller will light up amber. At this point the RED (100%) setting is still locked.

To unlock RED (100%) setting – press and hold button for a further 10 seconds. This is a one-time action only and is not reversible. Once unlocked, these outputs will become a permanent setting option on the controller.

To turn off the controller, press button for 3 seconds or simply disconnect from power source.

Our heated trouser liner and unique heating system allow you to wear your existing outerwear while providing an even distribution of warmth throughout the body. The entire back of the trouser consists of a soft stretch material giving the user an extremely comfortable fit and reducing the chances of ‘bulking’ under your outer garment.

Constructed from a Teflon-coated, wind-resistant, soft nylon shell utilising Thinsulate® insulation, makes them compressible, water-repellent, durable and lightweight. Gerbing trouser liners have 4 heating areas; 2 heating elements on the front of the legs starting from just below the waist and finishing midway down the shin the other 2 heating elements on the hips.

The best way to eliminate cold feet is by using our Gerbing heated socks. The heating elements are strategically placed on both the top and the bottom of the foot, which completely surrounds your feet with heat.

Hook them directly to the battery of your motorcycle using the supplied battery harness and Y- lead, or via the Gerbing trouser liner using the plugs situated in the legs. It is also possible to connect the heated socks through the supplied Y-lead to the accessory plug of the jacket liner (if used).

IF NOT USING THROUGH YOUR JACKET WITH A TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER THEN WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING A SINGLE CONTROLLER TO REGULATE THE TEMPERATURE OF THE SOCKS. Alternatively, you can manually disconnect from the power source when the desired temperature has been achieved, although this is not recommended.

Please note: unlike the heated jacket, the heated trousers do not have the dual wiring system, therefore the socks and the liners will be on the same circuit.

The 12V heated socks are made from a comfortable 4 way stretch Acrylic and are hand wash and line dry only. We advise wearing a lightweight sock underneath for hygiene reasons.

The Gerbing XR Heated gloves are the shorter version of the XRL heated motorcycle gloves. The XR gloves have a short cuff and can be worn under the sleeves of most jackets. The power input plug is fixed on top of each glove and is designed to be connected through the Gerbing Long Y-Cable to the 12v battery of your vehicle through the supplied Gerbing battery hook-up. Like all our gloves, the XR Glove can also be powered directly through the integrated cuff plugs of the Gerbing Heated Jacket Liner. SEE P.20 FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS Due to the shorter style of this glove, it is unsuitable for use with portable batteries.

The XR gloves have the same knuckle protection as the XRL gloves. Our new Gerbing MicroWirePro® is incorporated throughout the whole hand, fingers and thumb. The integrated push button controller allows the wearer to regulate the temperature to suit their requirements.

The XR glove has a waterproof Hypora™ membrane within the layers of the glove meaning that even if the rain should penetrate the leather, your hands will be kept warm and dry. As with all leather goods, we recommend treating your gloves regularly with a leather protector such as Nikwax. This not only extends the life of your glove but also helps to keep the outer layer water resistant.

Very comfortable liner glove made with an exceptionally soft and supple Lycra that contours to the hand. The design is simple but effective.

A firm fitting stretch fabric allows for a snug fit as these gloves are designed to be worn under existing gloves or mitts. . These heated gloves have been used for jumping from a balloon 30km high, and during a world record cold water dive (169 metres deep).

These Outdoor Extreme Tough MicroWirePRO® heated gloves are specially made for outdoor activities. Unlike the OS heated gloves and the OM heated mitts, the Outdoor Extreme Tough Glove is made from full aniline leather rather than textile. This glove is the warmest glove in our Outdoor collection. SEE P.20 FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS The OET heated gloves are perfect for walking, cycling, and working outdoors. These gloves can be powered by three different battery kits. The 1Ah, 2Ah and 3Ah battery kit can be used for all our gloves (see P 18-19) The higher the amperage the longer the batteries last. The Gerbing Heated Sport Glove is manufactured using our latest MicroWirePRO® technology.

These heated gloves are heated on the top of the hand, fingers, around the thumb and also on the palm of the hands. This makes the OS heated glove unique in our outdoor gloves collection. These OS heated gloves will allow you to forget about the cold and let you focus more on enjoying your time outdoors. SEE P.20 FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS The gloves not only keep you warm but are also constructed with a waterproof/breathable liner to keep you dry. The OS heated gloves are a comfortable textile gloves suited to many outdoor activities including skiing, hiking, watching sport etc.

The heated mittens made by Gerbing are the most economical battery powered heated gloves in the Gerbing range.

The Gerbing heated mittens are powered by two batteries which can be charged by a dual charger.

These heated mitts are ideal for fishermen, golfers , skiers or indeed anyone spending time outdoors in the cold.

The Heated Mittens have a push button regulator to control the temperature. There are three different battery kits available depending on budget and length of battery power required. A glove designed specifically for the hunter. This model is made of a quality camoflauge green leather and, for extra protection, kevlar has been used.

There is also a seamed slit built into the trigger finger (see picture) which can be cut if necessary giving the user the option to release the finger from the glove momentrilry for the perfect shot!

Before purchasing batteries for your Gerbing Garments, please check which type you require. If your kit has the new MicroWirePRO™ symbol on it like this and you push this button directly on the gloves to control the heat, then you will need batteries from this catalogue. Charging Instructions for BK1Ah, BK2Ah & BK3Ah Batteries : The batteries will require a full charge before use •

Connect your male batteries plugs into the two female plugs on the charger.

•

Plug charger into mains socket and switch on.

•

A BLUE light will start flashing on the battery indicating that it is receiving a charge and a RED light will appear on the main charging unit. Additional blue lights will appear on the battery as the charge increases (max 3)

•

The red light on the charging unit will turn GREEN when the batteries have reached a sufficient charge

•

Repeat this process between use as necessary

Connecting to your heated garment: •

Disconnect batteries from charging leads

•

Locate the power input glove on your garment and attach the battery

•

Hold down the temperature control button on your garment until illuminated (2-3 secs)

•

Press the temperature control button until desired temperature is reached (See P.20)

All Motorcycle Gloves are supplied with a power connection pack consisting of a long Y-Lead and a battery cable to enable you to get the power to your gloves. Alternatively, if you have purchased our Outdoor Glove range or if your motorcycle gloves are compatible, you may have purchased an optional set of rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries.

Battery Cable & Y-Lead Method (recommended for all motorcycle gloves)

•

Attach your battery cable to the terminals of you battery; red to positive, black to negative.

Once secure we recommended you attach the remaining cable to the frame of your motorcycle/vehicle using zip-ties ensuring that the female DC Port is accessible to your left.

•

The 2 long cables of the Y-Lead should be placed inside each arm of your jacket. If you have a liner in your jacket then the ideal way is to remove this, thread the leads down each arm and replace the liner, this keeps the leads neatly hidden away. Make sure that the longest lead is placed down the right arm. The male plugs at the end of these leads will fit directly into your gloves.

Rechargeable Battery Method (1Ah, 2Ah or 3Ah Kit)

•

Once fully charged, insert the male connection on each battery into the female connector of the glove. Place battery inside the pocket provided within the inside glove of each glove.

Once connected to your power source press and hold the button on the back of the glove for 2-3 seconds until illuminated. Your gloves are now on.

To change the temperature setting, press the button again until the desired setting is reached.

Low Setting (coolest) Medium Setting High Setting (warmest) •

To turn off the gloves simply disconnect from the power source or press and hold the button for 2-3 seconds until light is off.

AFTERCARE: As with all leather goods, we recommend treating your gloves regularly with a leather protector such as Nikwax or Renapur. This not only extends the life of your glove but also helps to keep the outer layer water resistant. For hygiene reasons you may also wish to consider wearing silk liners - these are easy to wash and will help keep your gloves clean and fresh.

Our new Portable Digital Controller is designed to be used with our Heated Jacket Liners if you are using the new 2019 Push-Button Gloves.

If you have the Pre-2019 model gloves that do not have the built-in push-button controller on the glove then you will need a Dual Temperature controller or indeed a Single Controller if not using gloves at all. Both of these are available through your local stockist or on our website www.gerbing.co.uk where you will also find a useful chart on how to choose the correct controller for your needs.

The Portable Digital Controller consist of two female leads that connect into the plugs inside your jacket and one male plug that connects to your power source: ◦ The Jacket Lead (female) connects into your jacket plug marked 'Jacket' and will control the temperature of your jacket. Using the push button on the control the user can choose 5 different heat settings shown in the digital display from 1-5; 1 being 20% heat, 5 being 100% heat. ◦ The Glove Lead (female) connects into your jacket plug marked 'Gloves' and will supply the power to the glove circuit. Unlike the jacket, you control the power of the gloves directly from the push-button on your glove.

The Gerbing Portable Digital Temperature Controller can also be controlled via the optional Wireless Remote Unit.

This wireless unit will control the heat setting of your Portable Digital Controller. It is water resistant and has an easily replaceable button cell battery The wireless unit can be placed anywhere on your vehicle ideally in a position where you can adjust it and keep your eyes on the road. It is recommended to attach the unit to your bike or tank bag using Velcro-type patches (supplied) so that it can be removed when you are away from your bike for safety.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS UNIT CANNOT BE USED WITH THE JUNIOR OR SINGLE CONTROLLER, ONLY THE PORTABLE DIGITAL CONTROLLER PAIRING YOUR GERBING REMOTE UNIT WITH A GERBING DUAL CONTROLLER Ensure both the remote unit and the main controller are within a metre of each other.

After connecting to the power source, press the button on the main controller unit for 3-4 seconds (the one attached to your jacket).

The LED window will display a flashing letter ‘A’.

Turn on the dial of the remote.

Once pairing is successful the LED window on the main controller will display a number.

The remote control is now activated and ready to use. Refer to instructions on unit for use.

This is the power connector supplied with all Gerbing 12v Motorvehicle products. It is also available to purchase separately for those individuals with multiple vehicles. It is supplied with a multiple amp fuse pack. We also sell Optimate adaptors. Please visit our website www.gerbing.co.uk for further details.

If your bike is fitted with an adaptor socket then this cigarette/Hella adapter is all you will need in order to power your Gerbing gear. With the red cap fitted, this is a standard 12v cigarette adaptor plug. Twist the red cap off and the connection becomes a Hella Plug adaptor. Instant heat with hardly any effort! Total length of item end to end is 64cm (cable part is 55cm).

Please note: If your motorcycle has the CAN-BUS system fitted, you may only be able to power gloves from the port (check manufacturers max output). For additional items you may need to connect directly to the bike's battery.

When installed, the Gerbing Panel Mounted Port Kit provides a simple port into which you can plug your Gerbing gear. Included within the kit is a battery harness, plug and port. Installation of the Gerbing Panel Mounted Port Kit may require drilling, in order to have the port sit flush to your panel. (Port mount port only available separately)

If you've got Gerbing heated gloves and you want to plug into your bike, then this is the cable you need. This harness comes as part of the wiring pack supplied as standard with the new Gerbing MicrowirePROÂŽ gloves.

Gerbing 12V Coil Cord Extension Cable allows you extra room for manoeuvre when hooked up to your bike. This flexible Gerbing coil cord extends to four feet in length, with a coax male plug on one end and a 90° coax female plug on the other end.

The Gerbing 50cm Coax Extension Cable will give you a bit more room for movement whilst still plugged into your bike.

This cable has a coax male plug on one end and a coax female plug on the other

The Gerbing Splitter Cable is a simple two-into-one connection, which, when connected to the battery hook up can split the power from the battery into two. This is useful when carrying a pillion who is also using heated clothing. When introducing extra power through the battery cable, please ensure that the appropriate fuse is fitted.
