Este proyecto no es un conjunto de volúmenes implantados en un sitio, sino un tejido de resistencias y esperanzas Aquí, donde antes solo hubo escombros, hoy se alzan formas que resguardan techos a dos aguas, muros que guardan un secreto: su simplicidad es un homenaje a las manos que los construyeron
La cancha es el corazón, rodeada por la escuela de boxeo, la base scout y las oficinas comunitarias. Sobre ellos, el FARO se eleva en dos prismas, como brazos abiertos que aprovechan la pendiente para regalar sombra y escalones donde sentarse a mirar el futuro.
Este diseño no sigue modas: sigue el ritmo de las asambleas, el eco de los niños en los talleres y el susurro de las abuelas que piden un lugar para sus oficios Por eso, más que arquitectura, esto es geometría comunitaria.

En 2008, 250 familias del Frente Popular Francisco Villa Independiente tomaron este predio, un basurero a cielo abierto con suelo contaminado por gas metano, y lo convirtieron en suelo vivo. Con palas, machetes y faenas colectivas, limpiaron toneladas de escombros del terremoto de 1985 y levantaron las primeras viviendas de lámina y ladrillo.

From landfill to living land...
In 2008, 250 families from the Frente Popular Francisco Villa Independiente occupied this site —an open-air landfill with methane-contaminated soil— and turned it into living ground. With shovels, machetes, and collective labor, they cleared tons of rubble from the 1985 earthquake and built the first homes of sheet metal and brick.

El Frente Popular Francisco Villa Independiente (FPFVI) surgió durante la transición democrática mexicana como una escisión crítica del FPFV original, rechazando la afiliación al PRD para mantener autonomía frente al clientelismo Su lema: "La revolución no ha terminado"
1988: Ocupación de terrenos marginales en Iztapalapa, incluyendo el basurero de Yuguelito.
1994: Ruptura definitiva tras rechazar la Otra Campaña zapatista.
The Frente Popular Francisco Villa Independiente (FPFVI) emerged during Mexico's democratic transition as a critical breakaway from the original FPFV, rejecting PRD affiliation to maintain autonomy against clientelism. Their motto: "The revolution is not over".

FARO 1 FARO
El Faro es el edificio principal del conjunto y el corazón activo del proyecto. Compuesto por dos volúmenes simétricos enfrentados, se posiciona sobre un terreno en pendiente, lo que permite generar un volado de 5 metros. Este espacio se aprovecha con una serie de gradas que conectan visual y físicamente con la cancha de fútbol y la cafetería cercana, creando un área de sombra, descanso y convivencia.
La circulación entre ambos volúmenes se resuelve con una escalinata central que marca el recorrido del proyecto Con peraltes de 0.30m y huellas amplias de 1.5m, su diseño permite un ascenso cómodo, pausado y contemplativo
Cada edificio alberga talleres comunitarios como danza, costura, cerámica y literatura, funcionando como espacios flexibles y abiertos a la participación de todas las edades.
The FARO is the main building of the complex and the active heart of the project. Composed of two symmetrical, facing volumes, it is positioned on a sloping site, which allows for the creation of a 5-meter overhang. This space is utilized with a series of steps that visually and physically connect it to the soccer field and nearby cafeteria, creating an area for shade, rest, and community interaction.
Circulation between the two volumes is resolved with a central staircase that marks the route through the project. With risers of 0.30 m and generous treads of 1.5 m, its design allows for a comfortable, unhurried, and contemplative ascent.
Each building houses community workshops such as dance, sewing, ceramics, and literature, functioning as flexible spaces open to participation from all ages.

El edificio de oficinas es el punto de articulación administrativa del conjunto, diseñado para dar orden y soporte a todas las actividades del proyecto. Se compone de dos volúmenes simétricos separados por un vacío central, pero unidos por un mismo gran techo que los protege y los integra visualmente.
Esta separación no es casual: responde a la intención de marcar una continuidad con el recorrido central que nace en El Faro y atraviesa el conjunto. Así, la arquitectura guía el paso de quienes visitan el espacio, enmarcando una circulación que conecta lo comunitario con lo organizativo
En su interior, cada módulo alberga oficinas, salas de reunión, áreas de espera y servicios sanitarios. La iluminación natural entra de forma generosa gracias a los ventanales amplios que abren el edificio hacia el exterior, reforzando el principio de transparencia y accesibilidad en el trabajo que aquí se realiza.
Más que un espacio cerrado, este edificio representa la estructura que permite que todo funcione con fluidez y propósito.
The office building serves as the administrative hub of the complex, designed to provide order and support for all project activities. It consists of two symmetrical volumes separated by a central void, but united by a single large roof that protects them and integrates them visually.
This separation is not accidental: it reflects the intention to maintain continuity with the central path that originates at The Lighthouse and traverses the complex. Thus, the architecture guides the passage of those who visit the space, framing a circulation that connects the communal with the organizational.
Inside, each module houses offices, meeting rooms, waiting areas, and sanitary facilities. Natural light enters generously through the large windows that open the building to the exterior, reinforcing the principle of transparency and accessibility in the work that is carried out here.
More than just an enclosed space, this building represents the structure that allows everything to function with fluidity and purpose

Estos dos edificios, idénticos en forma pero distintos en función, son el reflejo de cómo la arquitectura puede repetirse sin perder significado. La Capilla Musical Kithara, original en su implantación y profundamente arraigada en la memoria de Yuguelito, se convirtió en un símbolo de encuentro, calma y expresión cultural. Por ello, se decidió conservar su forma exacta y replicarla en un segundo edificio: la Biblioteca.
La repetición del diseño no responde solo a una cuestión formal o económica, sino a una intención profunda de continuidad y respeto Ambos edificios comparten la misma materialidad muros de piedra, techos de madera y una cubierta curva e inclinada y esa decisión marcó el lenguaje que dio forma al resto del conjunto Esta tipología, cálida y reconocible, se convirtió en la inspiración que dio unidad a todo el proyecto.
La Biblioteca hereda el carácter introspectivo de la capilla, pero lo transforma en un espacio de lectura, estudio y concentración. Por fuera, parecen iguales; por dentro, cada una responde a una necesidad distinta. Esta dualidad genera una relación especial entre los dos edificios: como si uno acompañara al otro, sin competir, complementándose.
Juntas, la Capilla y la Biblioteca demuestran que repetir no es copiar, sino reconocer el valor de lo que ya funciona y amplificar su significado para llegar más lejos
These two buildings, identical in form but distinct in function, are a reflection of how architecture can be repeated without losing meaning. The Kithara Music Chapel, original in its implantation and deeply rooted in the memory of Yuguelito, became a symbol of encounter, calm, and cultural expression. For this reason, it was decided to preserve its exact form and replicate it in a second building: the Library.
The repetition of the design is not only a formal or economic matter, but a deep intention of continuity and respect. Both buildings share the same materiality—stone walls, wooden ceilings, and a curved and sloping roof—and that decision marked the language that shaped the rest of the complex. This warm and recognizable typology became the inspiration that gave unity to the entire project.
The Library inherits the introspective character of the chapel but transforms it into a space for reading, study, and concentration. On the outside, they appear the same; on the inside, each responds to a different need. This duality creates a special relationship between the two buildings: as if one accompanies the other, without competing, complementing each other.
Together, the Chapel and the Library demonstrate that repeating is not copying, but recognizing the value of what already works and amplifying its meaning to reach further.
4 SCOUT BASE
La base scout es un edificio pensado para responder a las necesidades reales del grupo scout de Yuguelito, quienes han logrado representar con orgullo a su comunidad a nivel regional y nacional El edificio se compone de dos volúmenes unidos bajo un sistema de cubiertas que se complementan: un techo más pequeño protege las áreas cerradas como baños, oficina y almacén mientras que un gran techo inclinado, sostenido por columnas en “V”, cubre el área abierta de convivencia.
Esta área exterior se convierte en el corazón del edificio: un espacio cubierto pero libre, con una mesa redonda al centro que invita a la conversación, la toma de decisiones colectivas y la organización de actividades Frente a esta zona, una pared escalable de uso recreativo añade un toque lúdico, perfecto para fortalecer el espíritu activo y aventurero de los scouts.
El diseño interior es funcional y ordenado, con espacios bien definidos para las operaciones administrativas, el almacenamiento de equipo y servicios sanitarios. Todo en este edificio está pensado para acompañar el crecimiento, el trabajo en equipo y la energía de un grupo que lleva el nombre de Yuguelito más allá de sus límites
BASE SCOUT
This scout base is thoughtfully designed to address the specific needs of the Yuguelito scout group, who have proudly championed their community on regional and national stages. The building comprises two volumes linked by a complementary roofing system: a smaller roof sheltering the enclosed spaces— restrooms, office, and storage—while a vast, angled roof, held aloft by "V" shaped columns, embraces the open-air gathering space.
This outdoor zone is truly the building's heart and soul: a covered yet liberated area featuring a central round table, a space for convivial dialogue, collaborative decisionmaking, and the coordination of events. Facing this zone, a scalable climbing wall injects a playful element, ideal for fostering the active and adventurous spirit that defines the scouts.
The interior layout is functional and streamlined, with clearly delineated zones for administrative functions, equipment storage, and sanitary services. Every aspect of this building is conceived to nurture the growth, teamwork, and boundless energy of a group that carries the Yuguelito name far beyond its boundaries.
ESCUELA DE BOXEO BOXING SCHOOL
El edificio destaca por su cubierta inclinada en dos direcciones, que genera una figura dinámica y refleja la energía del deporte que alberga Esta forma no solo responde a criterios funcionales como la ventilación y el control de luz natural, sino que también otorga identidad propia al volumen
En su interior, la disposición es directa y eficiente: un ring central domina el espacio, acompañado por costales de entrenamiento alineados a un lado, generando un entorno pensado para la práctica tanto individual como grupal Al fondo, una zona de servicios con baños y vestidores completa el programa necesario
El proyecto no busca monumentalidad, sino eficacia. La arquitectura apuesta por la claridad espacial y la apertura visual hacia el exterior, permitiendo que la comunidad observe, se acerque y participe Esta transparencia simbólica y física fortalece el vínculo entre deporte y tejido social.
The building stands out for its sloping roof in two directions, which creates a dynamic figure and reflects the energy of the sport it houses. This form not only responds to functional criteria such as ventilation and natural light control, but also gives the volume its own identity.
Inside, the layout is direct and efficient: a central ring dominates the space, accompanied by training punching bags aligned on one side, creating an environment designed for both individual and group practice. At the back, a service area with bathrooms and changing rooms completes the necessary program.
The project does not seek monumentality, but efficiency. The architecture focuses on spatial clarity and visual openness to the exterior, allowing the community to observe, approach, and participate. This symbolic and physical transparency strengthens the link between sport and social fabric.
CAFETERÍA COFFE SHOP
Ubicada en la parte más baja del conjunto, donde la pendiente termina y el terreno se abre, la cafetería funciona como un punto de descanso y encuentro Su diseño parte de una planta cuadrada simple, pero se conecta visual y materialmente con los demás edificios del proyecto: comparte la misma cubierta inclinada, los muros de piedra y el techo de madera, integrándose con discreción y coherencia al lenguaje común del conjunto
Grandes ventanales permiten la entrada generosa de luz natural, y abren el espacio hacia el exterior, donde se disponen mesas fijas bajo el volado de la losa. Esta extensión hacia fuera refuerza su carácter abierto y comunitario, ideal para reuniones informales, convivencia después de los talleres, o simplemente para tomar un respiro frente a la cancha o las gradas del Faro.
Aunque parece el edificio de diseño más sencillo, la cafetería va mas allá ya cumple una función esencial: conectar personas a través de la pausa, reforzar vínculos y darle sabor a la vida cotidiana del proyecto
Located at the lowest part of the complex, where the slope ends and the terrain opens up, the cafeteria functions as a resting and meeting point. Its design starts from a simple square plan, but it connects visually and materially with the other buildings of the project: it shares the same sloping roof, stone walls, and wooden ceiling, integrating discreetly and coherently with the common language of the complex
Large windows allow generous entry of natural light and open the space to the outside, where fixed tables are arranged under the eave of the slab. This extension outward reinforces its open and community character, ideal for informal meetings, socializing after workshops, or simply taking a breather in front of the court or the stands of the Faro
Although it seems like the simplest designed building, the cafeteria goes further and fulfills an essential function: connecting people through pauses, strengthening bonds, and adding flavor to the daily life of the project
DETALLES QUE HABLAN
En el FARO Yuguelito, cada material cuenta una historia. El gransón de la mina vecina, los ladrillos de escombros compactados, la madera de viejos encofrados—no son solo recursos constructivos, son huellas físicas de la resistencia comunitaria. Esta no es una arquitectura impuesta: es la materialización de un diálogo entre el territorio y quienes lo habitan.

At FARO Yuguelito, every material tells a story. Gransón from the nearby quarry, bricks made of compacted debris, reused formwork wood these aren’t just supplies, they’re physical traces of community resistance. This isn’t imposed architecture: it’s the materialization of a dialogue between land and people.

Salvaged construction formwork finds new purpose as structural lofts and built-in furniture.
