Innerhalb s o l c h e r Hoh lräume k ö n n e n jüngere, m a s s i g e oder sinterartige K a l k a u s s c h e i d u n g e n auftreten (Abb. 5). D i e s e Kalkfällungen sind m ö g l i c h e r w e i s e a u f d e n o b e n er w ä h n t e n P r o z e ß der Durchsickerung v o n feinkörni g e m Material mit a n s c h l i e ß e n d e m Übertritt d e s Sickerwassers in ein p o r ö s e s Medium zurückzu führen. D a n e b e n sind im zementierten Horizont a u c h r e c h t intensive Eisen- u n d M a n g a n o x i d - I m p r ä g n a t i o n e n zu b e o b a c h t e n . Die Mobilisation und a n s c h l i e ß e n d e Ausfällung v o n Eisen- u n d M a n g a n v e r b i n d u n g e n ist w i e d e r u m a u f p e d o g e n e P r o z e s s e zurückzuführen. Damit wird deutlich, d a ß das Paläoklima im Zeitraum z w i s c h e n d e r A b l a g e m n g der Unteren und Mittleren Irchelschotter n i c h t aus schließlich trocken-warm w a r , sondern d a ß auch h u m i d e Zeitabschnitte v o r k a m e n .
