alumni in the Alan Arnett, a former GSW standout basketball
player who graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences, took his talents overseas in 2015 to play in a professional Slovakian basketball league. During the 2015-16 season, Arnett helped his team win the league title and earned Eurobasket.com’s All-Slovakian 1.Liga Player of the Year award. He also had a memorable 2017-18 season with the BC Yambol basketball team in Yambol, Bulgaria, winning the league’s scoring title and Most Valuable Player award. Heather Ashberry, a 2010 GSW graduate with a degree in art from the College of Arts and Sciences, recently started her own home decor and fashion accessory company, Beatrice Wormwood Ink, to add to her already full slate of professional projects and business ventures. Ambitious and multitalented, Ashberry is also a trained makeup artist for high-profile gigs like music videos, TV shows and fashion events. K. Scott Collins, CPA, owner of Collins/Moody + Company PC of Athens, has been elected chair of The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA) Board of Directors for the 2018-19 fiscal year. Collins graduated from GSW in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the School of Business Administration. A 38-year member of GSCPA, Collins has served as president of the organization’s educational foundation and as a former chair of GSCPA’s Bylaws and Budget committees. He also has served on the board and as president and treasurer of the Sandy Creek Nature Center, and next year will serve as president of the Sons of the American Revolution.
