110 YEARS OF HISTORY The story begins in 1906. On Nov. 23 of that year, the lead headline for the Americus TimesRecorder read “Sumter is the Winner,” having been named the county for Georgia’s Third District Agricultural and Mechanical School. This was made possible by the Perry Bill, which was signed into law August 18, 1906. It provided for establishment
