What good is data if you cannot analyze, organize, and sort it? This Excel class will show you how to navigate the working screen, create formulas, as well as sort and filter data.

Writing Your Memoir is a nonfiction, literary art form that, unlike autobiography, relies heavily on storytelling techniques derived from fiction, and is formed around the memory and observation of the author.

Microsoft Excel 2 Feb 10, 17, 24, 2016 6-8 pm $110 for both classes Instructor - Jennifer Turner Now that you have mastered creating spreadsheets, using basic formulas, functions, and using simple tools in Excel 1, it is time to move forward. In the Excel 2 course we will explore more built-in complex functions, as well as master charts and graphics for analyzing data.

Photography Classes: Fundamentals of Digital Photography January 26 and January 28, 2016 6-8 pm $90 for both classes Instructor - Robert Cooper In this hands-on class, you will learn about your camera’s basic settings and how using the manual settings can expand your creative horizons. Plan to bring your DSLR camera to the class and the manual.

How to Take Better Pictures with Your Smartphone February 9 and 11 6-8 pm $90 for both classes Instructor - Robert Cooper This class will teach you how to take better mobile phone pictures as well as how to sharpen them on social media and e-mail. Bring your Smartphone so you can take pictures and go through the process of transferring them.

Fundamentals of Digital Photography April 9, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. $90 for both classes In this hands-on class, with Instructor Jeremy Wilburn, you will learn about the basic fundamentals of your digital camera and how to use settings, aperture, and ISO. Location: MC Anderson Pavilion Field at the Recreation Activity Center Learn to train your dog using positive reinforcement techniques. You will learn various commands as well as house training tips, and chewing and behavior problems will be discussed. (1) Dogs must be at least 14 weeks old to participate, (2) must have vaccination records and current rabies documentation, (3) must have leash and collar with a buckle. Arrive early the first day for check in and paperwork.

Fiber optics overview - All Classes in savannah, georgia In partnership with BDI DataLynk (a Fiber Optic Association-Approved School), Georgia Southern offers training and the certification exam for 3 certifications. FOA certifications are widely respected for their comprehensive coverage of the knowledge, skills and abilities course members need, a result of the FOA having access to the most experienced and knowledgeable people in fiber optics to help develop FOA programs. Schools cover subjects appropriate to the course description, providing proper course materials and FOA-certified instructors.

Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) Monday, May 9 - Wednesday, May 11, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (no lunch will be provided) $700 This introductory 3-day fiber optic tech course is designed for anyone interested in becoming a Certified Fiber Optic Technician.

This Fiber Optic Training combines theory and 85% hands-on activities to prepare the student to take the CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) test that is sanctioned by the FOA (Fiber Optics Association) and given and graded the final class day.

Certified Fiber Optics Specialist in Testing and Maintenance (CFOS/T) Thursday, May 12 - Friday, May 13, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (no lunch will be provided) This 2-day (16-hour) program is designed to offer specialist fiber optics training to anyone involved with the testing and maintenance of fiber optics networks. This advanced fiber optics training is strictly a practical course, but includes more background information than is typical in basic courses to allow the student to understand what they are testing and how to troubleshoot problems in long-haul and short-haul fiber optics networks.

Certified Fiber Optics Specialist in Splicing (CFOS/S) Saturday, May 14 - Sunday, May 15, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (no lunch will be provided) This 2-day Splicing Specialist Training includes a complete PowerPoint presentation explaining the importance of high performance splicing and further details the points necessary to achieve these splices. The depth of this presentation is much greater than most textbooks and provides background information about splicing that is very important to the student.

Prerequisite: FOA CFOT Course. Details are on the website.

Grant Writing for Organizations Feb 3, 10, 17, 24, March 2, 9 7:00-8:30 pm This course provides participants with the basic information and techniques necessary for writing competitive grants. Focus is on writing proposals to foundations and corporations on behalf of organizations such as schools and non-profits (not individuals.) Federal grants are touched on but not emphasized.

Learn what qualifies as discrimination, who can be charged with harassment, and how best to reduce the likelihood of these charges in the workplace.

LAW 120: Discrimination & Hostile Work Environment Tuesday, April 26, 2016 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

The Fair Labor Standards Act is one of the oldest of the federal employment laws and perhaps the most violated. It applies to businesses of all sizes regardless of the number of employees. Employees cannot consent to a waiver of the FLSA. Come learn how to avoid wage-hour claims and Department of Labor audits.

Project Management – Basics February 5, 23, 25 (lunch provided on Friday) Friday 9-3:30 Tues/Thurs – 6-9 pm This course provides an overview of the ten knowledge-based principles for managing successful projects: Scope, integration, communication, time, cost, procurement, risk management, quality control, human resources, and project stakeholder management. The training includes practical exercises and an in-class group project. Participants receive a manual, electronic forms, and other resource materials. On Friday, lunch will be provided.

Project Management – Real World Applications March 4, 22, 24 April 8, 19, 21 (lunch provided on Fridays) Friday 9-3:30 Tues/Thurs – 6-9 pm Discover a documented step-by-step guideline for managing projects.

Students will be exposed to a wide variety of strategic and real world scenarios. On Fridays, lunch will be provided.

SHRM Learning System Feb 29; March 7, 14, 21, 28; April 4, 11, 18, 25; May 2, 9, 16 12 Monday Night Classes 6:00 - 9:00 pm Offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM):,the SHRM Learning System for SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP. Modules reflect the new HR practice and legislation in the SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge (BOCK). This 36-hour review course provides a broad overview of HR management issues and core body of knowledge.

The course is open to any adult participant, whether or not you plan to take the certification exam.

Leadership Skills for the Front-Line Manager 2/24/16 to 4/20/2016, skipping March 16 Wednesday mornings 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Get hands-on training in core supervisory/managerial skills. Each 4-hour session covers a single topic, from Improving Communication Skills to Resolving Conflict and Criticism. Offered several times a year since 2000, this course serves new supervisors as well as experienced leaders who want additional knowledge and practical skills to improve their style or learn how to handle personnel issues.

Sustainability Advisor Certificate Program 1/27/16 - 3/25/16 Online This 8 week, on-line certificate program will provide you with both the background and the practical knowledge to actually improve sustainability in your home and/or business.

To improve their vocabulary, students will use context clues in a passage to figure out which meaning of a word or phrase is being used and learn to identify key words, recognize main ideas/themes, draw conclusions and make inferences. The writing process will be emphasized and timed writing sessions will be used to help students know what to expect. By improving these skills, students will be able to approach the SAT with confidence and the necessary tools for optimal results.

The 2016 Official SAT Study Guide, Second Edition by College Board, is required for this class.

SAT PREP for Critical Reading, Writing and Vocabulary* Dates: Jan 25, Feb 1, Feb 8, Feb 18, Feb 22, Feb 29 All Monday Night Classes except Thursday, Feb 18 Class will not meet on Monday, Feb 15, as it is President’s Day. That week class will meet on Thursday, Feb 18 Time: 6 to 8 p.m.

Location: Coastal Georgia Center, Savannah, GA Cost: $165 per person This 6-week course focuses on strategies used in active reading that pertain specifically to the SAT, and addresses writing strategies used on possible topics during the writing portion. While improving their vocabulary (roots, prefixes, word in context), students will learn to identify key words, recognize main ideas/themes, draw conclusions and make inferences. The writing process will be emphasized and students will practice timed writing sessions to prepare for the reading and writing portions of the SAT. By improving these skills, students will be able to approach the SAT with confidence and the necessary tools for optimal results.

SAT Math Prep* Dates: Jan 26, Feb 2, 9, 16, 23, March 1 All Tuesday Night Classes Time: 6 to 8 p.m.

Location: Coastal Georgia Center, Savannah, GA Cost: $165 per person These classes focus on thinking strategies and skill development needed for maximizing scores on the math portion of the SAT. We will review the use of various formulas essential to solving problems and discuss effective strategies for increasing the likelihood of answering problems correctly. There will be practice tests in class, as well as learning exercises for relieving test anxiety. *Classes take place at the Coastal Georgia Center
