Georgia O’Keeffe (1887–1986) is one of America’s most influential artists, known for her groundbreaking use of abstraction, dramatically modern composition, and exquisite sense of the beauty of the natural world. The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is uniquely placed to tell the story of this iconic artist, who lived life on her own terms and broke boundaries that might have held back another artist. The Museum, founded in 1997, explores O’Keeffe’s life, work process, and her place in American Modernism with installations in its galleries of the artworks, art materials, and personal effects owned by O’Keeffe, as well as through its Research Center and intimate tours of O’Keeffe’s Home and Studio in Abiquiú, New Mexico. As caretaker of a significant collection of O’Keeffe’s artworks, as well as of her homes and personal possessions, the Museum is a pioneer in preservation, preventive care, and art conservation. Using the latest technologies and innovative techniques, the Museum has developed methods for significantly reducing risks to artworks while on display or in transit. Todd Webb: An Exclusive Reproduction for the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Mini Print 11 x 14 in. $9.50/$8.08

In 1905, Charles Clayton (“Todd”) Webb III was born in Detroit, Michigan. Todd Webb picked up his first camera in the late 1930s. He had hopes of becoming a travel writer and lecturer, using a camera to record his journeys. Having been a successful stockbroker in the 1920s, he lost all of his earnings, and then some, in the Crash. During the Depression, Webb prospected for gold, worked as a forest ranger, and wrote short stories that remain unpublished. His interest in and love for photography soon crowded out his writing ambitions, and he was able to do the three things he most loved: travel, meet people, and photograph them. During his travels out West, Webb remained in contact with Alfred Stieglitz’s widow, Georgia O’Keeffe. His friendship with O’Keeffe developed and endured, and eventually led to him and his wife Lucille, joining O’Keeffe in New Mexico for 10 years. Between 1961—1971 they operated a bookstore on Canyon Road, and were an integral part of the art community. It was at this time that Webb photographed Georgia O’Keeffe and her home.
