Class of 2024 Career Success

Talent for Every Opportunity

I’m pleased to present the employment report for the Georgetown University Master of Science in Finance (MSF) Class of 2024. In a year marked by economic uncertainty, evolving work environments, and increasing pressure on organizations to do more with less, our graduates have navigated these turbulent times with remarkable resilience, determination, and adaptability.
The Georgetown MSF program stands out among its peers for several key reasons. Notably, our class of 165 graduates – whether in our full-time or part-time programs – ranks among the largest MSF cohorts in the country. This scale not only highlights the breadth of our program but also reflects the diversity of experiences our graduates bring to the workforce. From ages 23 to 55, from entry-level analysts to seasoned CFOs, and spanning all regions of the United States, the Class of 2024 represents a dynamic crosssection of the modern workforce.
This report provides an in-depth look at the career trajectories of our graduates within six months of graduation. To ensure a comprehensive and accurate analysis, we’ve leveraged a variety of data sources, including selfreported salary figures and publicly available career information. We adhere to best practices established by the National Association of Colleges and Employers and the MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance, while striving to go above and beyond these guidelines to offer a more detailed and nuanced picture of our graduates’ career progressions and successes.
The overall class achieved an average salary of $119,040, with a median salary of $106,500 – strong figures that provide a broad snapshot of the group and match trends in hiring and compensation landscape in the field. These numbers only tell part of the story, however. To better capture the diverse experiences of our graduates, we’ve separated the data into two distinct categories: pre-experience graduates (those with less than four years of professional experience) and experienced graduates (those with more than four years of experience). This distinction allows for a clearer understanding of the value the Georgetown MSF degree provides at different stages of one’s career.
For many of our pre-experience graduates, this was their first foray into the finance world. Their early career achievements in securing roles and advancing in the field are notable and stand as a testament to their commitment and capability in a highly competitive job market. Meanwhile, for our experienced graduates, this year marked a pivotal moment of career progression – whether through promotions, lateral moves to new opportunities, or senior leadership appointments.
The achievements of the MSF Class of 2024 are a direct result of both their hard work and dedication and the strength of the Georgetown MSF community. Our deepest gratitude goes to the alumni who paved the way for this class, the employers who trusted in their potential, the faculty, the MSF program team, and the career advising team who provided personalized guidance. In the spirit of cura personalis, it truly takes a collective effort to support the growth of the next generation of finance leaders – a commitment we are all deeply invested in.
As you read through the report, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating the successes of the Class of 2024 and continue to support those who are striving to elevate their careers today and in the future.
Best wishes,
Thomas R. Stowell, Associate Dean for MSF Career Management and Strategic Initiatives

The MSF Clinics
The MSF program offers students the unique opportunity to participate in MSF Clinics. Since 2016, the MSF program has partnered with local, regional, national, and global companies to offer an optional eight-week, internship-like experience. Twice per year (summer and winter), students collaborate with leading companies on real-world projects, allowing them to apply the skills and knowledge gained in their coursework to solve complex problems, address business issues, and tackle specific scenarios. This hands-on experience provides invaluable exposure to industry challenges and enhances their ability to make an immediate impact in the workforce.
We are grateful to our alumni and partner employers, including project sponsors for this year’s clinics: Alverez and Marsal, Deloitte, Google, Lockheed Martin Ventures, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, PNC, Rock Hall Partners, the Southeast Regional Center, and Victor Capital Partners for their continued collaboration. These signature programs have become transformative for students seeking career pivots or promotions, and are praised by employers as an exemplary model for bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world application.
