Nevertheless, even as we have the closing ceremony today, let us remember that we are not closing the door to the connections we have made or the friendships we have grown. Let us keep making great strides as we prepare for #SAIMUN20.

The conference that well began on Monday the 1st July has come to its end.

When asked about how the conference was, the delegates have had quite a bit to say indeed.

their delight in being part of #SAIMUN19 and how much they look forward to being part of the next conferences.

They have gone further to state how they are unable to shake off the bittersweet feelings that usually comes with goodbyes.

Goodbyes are never easy.

Nevertheless, even as we have the closing ceremony today, let us remember that we are not closing the door to the connections we have made or the friendships we have grown.

However, what has echoed among most of them is Let us keep making great strides as we prepare for #SAIMUN20.

This is a behind the scenes look at the who’s who and what it takes to publish the magazine on a daily basis.

The press core is divided into 5 groups; there’s the Editors, Writers, Photographers, Graphics designer, Social media and, Anchors.

Photographers The individuals behind the included the following; Arnold Julian He’s a portrait, lifestyle and events photographer.

The High School photographers who also graciously volunteered as part of the press team family are; Michelle Kendi Israela Okatch Twentie Njeri Tonia Murgor Graphics Designer George Reru He’s the genius behind the arrangement of articles , inclusion and editing of photos for the magazine.

He’s also a programmer who loves sailing, travelling and eating Oreos during his free time.

She’s a commercial model who has her own youtube channel; @ The Life Scoop. Make sure subscribe and smash that like button. She’s a fixer and quick on her feet, when she’s not advancing her journalism practice. She likes to travel and experience different parts of Kenya.

She enjoys cooking and eating cake and ice cream.

She claims to be at peace in the wilds, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. 3 THE PRESS TEAM who is not identical nor can she feel what the sister is feeling. She loves to clean the house to wind and relax. She is part of the team who sits inconspicuously through the committee meetings and writes the article for the paper.

Michael Omondi Already having served with the press team, he provides insight and wisdom he’s acquired over the various Press teams within which he has served.

He helps clarify issues, explain and expound on matters where need be. He’s also part of the ardent writers force who strive to make sure you know what happened during all committee meetings.

Abdirahman Yasin He’s a part time tech blogger who believes that the pen is mightier than the sword. He enjoys writing, taking amateur photos and anything tech related.

For his blog on technology check out Tecdefined. blogspot.com/ Sophie Opondo An award winning actress in 2016 at Daystar University, a volunteer at the grassroots level on matters leadership and advocacy in informal settlement and a strong and ardent believer of feminism and women empowerment. Sophie’s talents are multi faceted as she prides herself on being an advocate for women’s rights; her writing is often geared towards that agenda. She enjoys socializing and being the life of the party during her free time. Check out her blog @okothsopondo@ wordpress.com Debbie Mutemi A true testament to the brilliance of the youth.

Debbie is a High School student who loves writing and painting. She is currently the youngest member at the press core but her insight into life is astounding. She loves space and would love to study Astrophysics in future. She also enjoys arguing philosophy and getting new outlooks and perspectives on life. She is an ardent believer in women empowerment and considers herself a feminist.

Editors Soila Kenya Commonly referred to as the mother of the Daily Saimuner, she is the founder of the Saimun Press team. She is the one who put into place all the institutions in place to keep the press core running smoothly. There would be no daily SAIMUNER without her.

Ventura Kireki She’s a final law year law student, a budding jurist

THE DAILY SAIMUNER and a professional blogger (venturakireki.com).

She’s a human rights activist with a particular interest in women and youth empowerment.

Her duties have included editing, printing and publishing of the Daily Saimuner and oversight of the entire press core.

Julie Ambani The current head of the press core, the final say, authority and power regarding anything appertaining to Articles, photography and online presence of Saimun, and yet somehow an extremely kind, humble and understanding person who is not drunk with power. She is passionate about communication and when asked for a comment her response was that she was grateful for the opportunity to be able to have such an amazing team to work with.

UNEP: END OF THE SAIMUN 19

Marine pollution being the main topic at the UNEP Committee, they came up with great measures to reduce this menace. Some of the measures included the reduction of plastic and looking for substitutes, civic education and proper policies against the emission of greenhouse gasses which also play a part in the degeneration of the environment.

The UNEP committee has had great discussions all through the conference. There were several heated discussions and debates and all in all it was an amazing experience for all the delegates and the chairs. The UNEP resolution paper was successfully passed. Kudos to the UNEP committee!
