INTRODUCTION DESIGN GOALS
The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza is a performing arts center and City Hall for the city of Thousand Oaks, California. City Hall includes Planning and Building Department, City Works and other city departments. It is located on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, immediately across from Gardens of the World.
The goal of this project is to create a new entry and public space for the existing city hall building. The new entry will engage the public with the site and its context and connect the site to surrounding pedestrian circulation patterns and uses.
Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza is home to Fred Kavli Theatre, an 1,800-seat theater. Notable performers include Art Garfunkel, Kenny Rogers, The Beach Boys, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Peter, Paul and Mary.

To accomplish the design goals at hand three case study sites have been selected for their innovate concepts and design solutions.
CASE STUDY #1: THE GREEN ENTRANCE
Nearby The Green Entrance are many governmental agencies, embassies and NGO’s, the Provincial House, the Museum District and the centre of The Hague. Besides an infrastructural node, this entrance is also a symbolic gateway to the city.

The Sky Path connects the outdoor plazas and entry points of the building. It is accessible to users of all abilities, making it an inclusive place to engage the public in both the experience of the site and the appreciation of the sites context through curated views.
