NUESTRA HISTORIA
La Asociación para el Desarrollo de Carrizal (APRODECA) fue fundada en el 2011 por miembros de la comunidad de Carrizal, San José de las Matas, República Dominicana que residen en los Estados Unidos, con el propósito de recaudar fondos para ayudar a familias de bajos recursos en la región de la cordillera central. En el 2015, APRODECA creó un comité en Carrizal, República Dominicana para promover liderazgo, recaudación de fondos y actividades de participación comunitaria.
OUR HISTORY
The Association for the Development of Carrizal (APRODECA) was founded in 2011 by members of the community of Carrizal, San Jose de Las Matas, Dominican Republic residing in the United States with the goal of raising funds for the sole purpose of helping needy families in the Central mountain region. In 2015 APRODECA created a chapter in Carrizal, Dominican Republic to promote leadership, fundraising, and community engagement activities.

APRODECA es una agencia de servicios sociales en los Estados Unidos de América cuya misión es promover la salud, la educación y la protección del medio ambiente en Carrizal y otras comunidades en Santiago, República Dominicana. APRODECA es una organización sin fines de lucro registrada en el IRS como un proveedor de servicios sociales y educativos 501(c)(3).
APRODECA is a social service agency in the United State of America whose mission is to promote health, education, and environmental protection in Carrizal and other communities in need in Santiago, Dominican Republic. APRODECA is a non-profit organization registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) social and educational services provider.

Hace 14 años comenzamos este camino con una convicción profunda: toda persona merece una oportunidad real para salir adelante.
APRODECA nació del compromiso con las comunidades más vulnerables, del deseo de hacer presencia donde otros no llegan, y del amor por nuestra gente. A lo largo de esta década, hemos trabajado con constancia y con el corazón puesto en cada acción: acompañando familias, promoviendo la educación, impulsando el desarrollo comunitario, defendiendo la dignidad de quienes más lo necesitan.
Nuestro crecimiento no se mide solo en cifras, sino en historias reales: en cada niño que volvió a sonreír, en cada familia que recuperó la esperanza, en cada comunidad que encontró una red de apoyo.
Su apoyo ha sido esencial para convertir los desafíos en oportunidades y las ideas en realidades.
Hoy miramos atrás con orgullo, pero también miramos hacia adelante con compromiso. Aún queda mucho por hacer. Sabemos que el cambio verdadero se construye día a día, en lo cotidiano, en lo comunitario, en lo humano.

Fourteen years ago, we began this journey with a deep conviction: every person deserves a real opportunity to move forward.
APRODECA was born out of a commitment to the most vulnerable communities, from the desire to be present where others are not, and from the love for our people. Throughout this decade, we have worked consistently and with our hearts in every action: supporting our families, promoting education, driving community development, and defending the dignity of those who need it most.
Our growth is not measured only in numbers, but in real stories: in every child who smiled again, in every family that regained hope, in every community that found a support network.
These achievements are not ours alone. They belong to all the people, institutions, volunteers, and allies who have walked alongside us. Your support has been essential in turning challenges into opportunities and ideas into realities. Today, we look back with pride, but we also look forward with commitment. There is still much to be done. We know that true change is built day by day — in the everyday, in the community, in our shared humanity.

Javier Osorio ha sido un miembro invaluable de APRODECA por más de 12 años, sirviendo con dedicación y compromiso como nuestro secretario. Aunque no es dominicano de nacimiento, Javier ha dedicado su tiempo y esfuerzo incondicionalmente a nuestra organización, tanto en Estados Unidos como en República Dominicana, participando activamente en numerosos comités, coordinando campamentos de verano y trabajando incansablemente entre bastidores para asegurar el éxito de nuestra gala anual.
Nos enorgullece contar con él en nuestro equipo y este reconocimiento es un justo homenaje a su inquebrantable servicio y contribución.
Javier Osorio has been an invaluable member of APRODECA for over 12 years, serving withdedication and commitment as our secretary. Although not Dominican by birth, Javier has wholeheartedly devoted his time and effort to our organization both in the US and Dominican Republic while actively participating in numerous committees, coordinating summer camps, and working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the success of our annual gala.
We are proud tohave him as part of our team and this recognition is a just tribute to his unwavering service and contributions.
STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
APRODECA REALIZA ENTREGA OFICIAL DE BECAS ESTUDIANTILES.
APRODECA celebró con gran orgullo la entrega oficial de su Programa de Becas Estudiantiles 2025, reafirmando su compromiso con la educación y el progreso de la comunidad.
En un emotivo acto realizado en Carrizal, se reconoció el esfuerzo y la dedicación de jóvenes estudiantes que, gracias a este programa, podrán continuar sus estudios técnicos y universitarios. La iniciativa busca apoyar a familias de escasos recursos, ofreciendo un respaldo económico que cubre matrícula, libros, materiales y transporte, con el objetivo de garantizar la permanencia y el éxito académico de los beneficiarios.
El Programa de Becas Estudiantiles 2025 impactará directamente a decenas de jóvenes de Carrizal y comunidades vecinas, generando un efecto multiplicador en sus familias y en el desarrollo social de la región. Con esta entrega, APRODECA ratifica su misión de trabajar por el bienestar común, fomentando la educación como pilar fundamental del progreso y la superación.
The Carrizal Development Foundation (APRODECA) proudly celebrated the official launch of its 2025 Student Scholarship Program, reaffirming its commitment to education and the advancement of the community.
In a heartfelt ceremony held in Carrizal, the effort and dedication of young students were recognized — students who, thanks to this program, will now be able to continue their technical and university studies. The initiative aims to support low-income families by providing financial assistance that covers tuition, books, materials, and transportation, with the goal of ensuring both academic continuity and student success.
The 2025 Student Scholarship Program will directly impact dozens of young people from Carrizal and neighboring communities, creating a ripple effect that will benefit their families and contribute to the region’s social development. Through this initiative, APRODECA reaffirms its mission to work for the common good, promoting education as a cornerstone of progress and personal growth.
DÍA DE REYES /THREE KINGS DAY
Más de 300 Sonrisas que Iluminan la Esperanza
El pasado Día de Reyes, la Fundación APRODECA celebró una jornada llena de magia, alegría y solidaridad en la comunidad de Carrizal, donde más de 300 niños y niñas fueron agasajados con juguetes, bicicletas y momentos inolvidables.
La actividad incluyó un show en vivo con payasos y personajes infantiles, que llenaron el ambiente de risas, música y sorpresas, haciendo de este día una verdadera fiesta de esperanza para los más pequeños.
Gracias al esfuerzo conjunto de voluntarios, colaboradores y generosos donantes, esta tradicional celebración no solo entregó regalos, sino también sonrisas sinceras y recuerdos que durarán toda la vida.
Desde APRODECA, reafirmamos nuestro compromiso con el bienestar y la alegría de la niñez, convencidos de que cada sonrisa es una semilla de futuro.

This past Three Kings Day, the APRODECA Foundation hosted a magical and joy-filled celebration in the community of Carrizal, where more than 300 children were treated to gifts, bicycles, and an unforgettable live show.
The event featured clowns, beloved children’s characters, and live entertainment, filling the atmosphere with laughter, music, and excitement turning the day into a true celebration of hope and community.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of volunteers, community partners, and generous donors, this beloved tradition brought not only presents, but also genuine smiles and joyful memories that will last a lifetime.
At APRODECA, we remain deeply committed to the well-being and happiness of children, believing that every smile is a seed of hope for a better future.
ENTREGA DE DOS VIVIENDAS DIGNAS A FAMILIAS NECESITADAS EN CARRIZAL
APRODECA OFFICIALLY HANDED OVER TWO HOMES BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP IN CARRIZAL.
La Asociación Prodesarrollo Carrizal (APRODECA) hizo entrega oficial de dos viviendas construidas desde cero en la comunidad de Carrizal, San José de las Matas, beneficiando a dos familias de escasos recursos que ahora cuentan con un hogar seguro y digno.
Cada vivienda incluye tres dormitorios, sala, comedor, cocina y baño, y fueron entregadas a *Patria mercedes santelices *, viuda con 5 hijos, y *Marisol Rodríguez *, quien vive con sus cuatro hijos pequeños y varios nietos. Ambas familias vivían en condiciones precarias Además de las viviendas, se donaron muebles y equipamiento completo para en estos hogares, gracias al apadrinamiento de Key Food, a través de la Fundación Rancheros Unidos. El proyecto superó los 25 mil dólares de inversión.
Los terrenos fueron donados por Maritza Tejada, en un acto de gran solidaridad que hizo posible la ejecución total de este proyecto comunitario.

Este proyecto reafirma el compromiso de APRODECA con el desarrollo humano y social de Carrizal y con las familias más vulnerables de la zona.
The project is benefiting two low-income families who now have a safe and dignified place to live.
Each house includes three bedrooms, a living room, dining area, kitchen, and bathroom. The homes were given to Patria Mercedes Santelices, a widow with five children, and Marisol Rodríguez, who lives with her four young children and several grandchildren. Both families were previously living in precarious conditions.
In addition to the houses, complete furniture and home equipment were donated, thanks to the sponsorship of Key Food through the Rancheros Unidos Foundation. The project exceeded an investment of $25,000 USD
The land was generously donated by Maritza Tejada, in a remarkable act of solidarity that made the full execution of this community project possible.
During the handover, which took place in September 2025, the families expressed their deep gratitude, stating that without this generous gesture, “we would never have been able to have a dignified home.”
This project reaffirms APRODECA’s commitment to the human and social development of Carrizal and to the most vulnerable families in the area.
GRAN GALA ANUAL 2024
“Una Noche de Glamour, Celebración y Solidaridad para nuestras comunidades en RD”
JORNADA DE SANEAMIENTO AMBIENTAL EN CARRIZAL
APRODECA llevó a cabo varias jornadas de saneamiento ambiental en la comunidad de Carrizal, San José de las Matas, con el objetivo de promover la limpieza, el orden y la conciencia ecológica entre sus habitantes.
La actividad contó con la activa participación de jóvenes de la comunidad, acompañados por líderes y voluntarios de la Fundación, quienes realizaron labores de recolección de desechos sólidos en calles, caminos y áreas comunes.
Además de la limpieza, la jornada incluyó acciones de educación ambiental, con mensajes orientados a generar conciencia sobre el impacto que nuestras acciones tienen en el entorno y en la calidad de vida colectiva.

SANITATION CAMPAIGN IN CARRIZAL
APRODECA carried out several environmental sanitation campaigns in the community of Carrizal, San José de las Matas, with the goal of promoting cleanliness, order, and ecological awareness among its residents.
The activity featured active participation from local youth, accompanied by community leaders and Foundation volunteers, who carried out solid waste collection in streets, pathways, and common areas.
In addition to the cleanup efforts, the campaign included environmental education activities, sharing messages aimed at raising awareness about the impact our actions have on the environment and overall quality of life.
Through these initiatives, APRODECA reaffirms its commitment to the integral development of Carrizal, engaging the new generations in actions that promote social responsibility and care for the environment.

Guided by the true spirit of Christmas love, generosity, and compassion, this annual tradition reflects APRODECA’s deep commitment to the well-being of the most vulnerable. In every box of food, there is more than nourishment: there is a message of solidarity, dignity, and joy shared from heart to heart.
Como ya es costumbre en el mes de diciembre en cada Navidad, APRODECA lleva esperanza y calidez a las familias más necesitadas de Carrizal y zonas aledañas, entregando alimentos de primera necesidad.
Inspirados por el verdadero espíritu navideño, amor, generosidad y solidaridad, esta hermosa tradición reafirma el compromiso de APRODECA con el bienestar de su comunidad. En cada entrega no solo hay alimentos, sino también un mensaje de dignidad, alegría y unión que toca corazones.
BOAT PARTY: UNA TARDE INOLVIDABLE EN NUEVA YORK “Boat Party: An
Unforgettable Evening in New York”
Este exclusivo evento a bordo de un crucero bailable desde el Pier 36 de Manhattan reunió a cientos de personas para una noche de música, baile y solidaridad. El Grupo D’Ahora puso a todos a moverse con su merengue típico, mientras que Yaroni Montero conquistó al público con su bachata. Los DJ Argeni y DJ Maza mantuvieron la energía con una mezcla de éxitos, y Bomba Brito de “La Hora del Swing” dio la bienvenida a los asistentes con su carisma.
Uno de los momentos más especiales fue la deliciosa comida donada por el restaurante Rico Pollo, gracias al apoyo de Juan Puntiel, su esposa Gleny y sus hijos. La noche cerró con una emocionante rifa de premios, haciendo de este Boat Party una experiencia inolvidable que unió alegría y solidaridad. ¡Ya esperamos la próxima edición!
This exclusive event aboard a dance cruise from Pier 36 in Manhattan brought together hundreds of people for a night of music, dancing, and solidarity.
