1. Technical Specifications
File Format: PDF, TIFF, or JPEG files are generally preferred. Ensure the file is in CMYK color mode for print.
Resolution: At least 300 DPI (dots per inch) for high-quality print results.
Bleed: Provide a 3mm to 5mm bleed on all sides, which allows for slight trimming during the cutting process.
Trim Size: Ensure the design is set to the magazine’s standard page size, minus the bleed. For example, if the magazine trim size is 8.5” x 11”, design the ad accordingly.
Safe Area: Leave essential content (text, logos) at least 0.25” (6mm) from the edge of the trim size to avoid it being cut off.
Color Profile: Use CMYK color profiles instead of RGB for accurate color representation in print. Make sure black text is 100% black, not a mix of CMYK.
Submission Date: Ad artwork must be submitted before the printing deadline to ensure proper inclusion. Usually, magazines set these dates well in advance.
