Batch Crypton - Breaking the Cryptic Code of Clicking Together

C

rypton is a DNA transposon which is classified as a class II transposon. It utilizes the enzyme tyrosine recombinase and does not undergo replication after obtaining the genetic material. It uses the cut-andpaste mechanism, as well as the rolling circle mechanism, to transfer genetic material. Batch Crypton is an aggregation of unique individuals, with Paolo, Brian, Christy, Justin, Chantel, Danica, and Victor from BS Biology, and Allen and Candice from BS Nutrition. Each possesses varying personalities, but nonetheless discovered a home in one another by complementing each other’s skills and abilities, and would hope to continue to do so in the near future. Danica Nicole Del Rosario The ocean is just a body of water set against the ever-changing sky, until you realize its depth – and if you’ve known Danica, you’ll understand what that means. She likes getting lost in a book, and singing along to her favorite old songs on the guitar. Her passions include art and

by Paolo Miguel Anico (Crypton) poetry, and she values sincerity most of all. A piece of her heart will always belong to writing. And although earnest, Danica has a heartwarming laugh, and a spirit for adventures. With courage and compassion, she believes and stands up for what she deems to be good, so that she may be a source of hope, inspiration, and help to the marginalized and oppressed. Justin Gabriel Badlis Justin is a walking bag of sunshine and smiles. Hailing from an urban city, he now enjoys the peaceful environment of the Elbi life. Always optimistic and upbeat, he is always in an energetic mood, leading to his constant hunger and spontaneous outbursts of mischief and laughter. As far as hobbies go, he indulges himself by reading a wide range of media such as fictional novels, manga, webtoons and the occasional news article and blog. Justin hopes to immerse himself in the field of Marine Sciences, but is also open to other exciting fields in Biology. He seeks to thrive as both an individual and a part of a community, in a growth-

inducing environment, and this organization is one such place he believes can offer him this opportunity. He hopes to gain more experience along the way, and is ready to overcome all challenges and tasks he would face in the near-future. Brian Alfred Mortera “Fly for your dreams, you don’t know where they might lead you.” Brian is a positive ray of sunshine that tries his best to involve everyone in the group. His passion for both arts and sciences led him to where he is now. He likes listening to people and learning something new about them and everything around him. He is a curious, happy-go-lucky boy who enjoys reading books, playing games, watching shows, and interacting with other people. He finds joy in everything he does, especially when it involves arts, maths, and sciences. Brian tries to balance his love for the arts and his scientific curiosity, and aims to one day work in the field of medical research and
