The Best Summer Ever Starts at the Y! Summer is always an exciting time here in Lake Geneva. The downtown becomes alive again with action, boats head for the open waters and families enjoy all that the great outdoors has to offer. While there is plenty to do outside, there is just as much excitement and activity happening at the Y. The Y has continued to expand its offering of over 125 different programs and services. Members ages 18+ can apply for 24 hours/day, 7 days/week access to our Wellness Center at no extra fee (other than purchasing a $10 key fob). For safety and security reasons, 24/7 is only available to continuous adult members of the Geneva Lakes Family YMCA. Individuals with a day pass, one month membership, AWAY members, One Wisconsin members, and other short-term memberships/visiting guests are unable to apply for access. Apply for 24/7 access at our front desk. A background check will be performed, and we will notify you via e-mail and activate your fob if your access is approved.

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP & DISCOUNTS

If your local business has five or more employees who are Y members, you may be eligible for a corporate discount. If you are a member of a local civic group or are active duty military, police, fire, EMS or a teacher, you may also be eligible for a membership discount. AWAY PROGRAM

This national Y-member benefit allows you to use other Y’s for free. Our Y’s policy provides 14 visits/year for visiting AWAY members (some restrictions may apply). Your Y card and a photo ID are required for verification. Beyond 14 visits, a day pass may be purchased. Visiting Y members can sign up for our programs at the member rate, but must wait for the community registration date.

YMCA Policies & Services THE YMCA RESTRICTS THE CARRYING OF FIREARMS IN OUR FACILITIES OR ON OUR GROUNDS. Wis.Stat 943.13(1m)(c) 2

MEMBERSHIP: A monthly draft membership is a continuous plan that remains in effect until the Y receives a 30-day written cancellation notice. Each member will be issued a membership card, which must be shown to the front desk staff at every visit. Lost cards can be reprinted at the front desk for $5.

WELLNESS CENTER USE: For safety reasons, ages nine and under are not allowed in our Wellness Center areas. Ages 10 to14, may use cardio equipment upstairs as long as a child is accompanied by an adult 18 years or older at all times who is on a piece of cardio equipment next to the child. Ages 15+ may use all cardio and weight equipment in our Wellness Center by themselves. An orientation is recommended.

LOCKER ROOM USE: Members and guests must be 16 or older

to use the Men's and Women's locker rooms. Children ages five to 15 must use the Girl’s or Boy’s locker rooms. The Y offers a family locker room accessible from the pool deck for those with disabilities, as well as for children who need assistance but are not old enough to use the gender-appropriate locker rooms. During busy hours, if the family locker room is occupied, parents or guardians of children five and under may assist children in the locker room that corresponds with the adult’s gender.

LOCKER RENTAL:

$45/year or $3.75/monthly draft. You can use your own lock or purchase one from the YMCA. Enroll at the front desk.

TOWEL SERVICE:

$45/year or $3.75 monthly draft. You will receive a bath-sized towel at each visit. Enroll at front desk.

POOL POLICY: For open swim, children nine and younger must be directly supervised by an adult guardian age 18+ at all times. For ages seven and under, an adult must be in the water, and the adult/child ratio cannot exceed 1:3. Ages 10+ may swim without an adult but must pass a swim test to be in the lap pool.

ITEMS & VALUABLES: Should be locked in a locker at all times. Please bring your own padlock. The Y is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. If you do not have a padlock, please leave valuables at home.

PERSONAL TRAINING & PRIVATE LESSONS: Personal, partner, group training, and swim lessons are a member service. Outside trainers/instructors are not allowed to train clients in the YMCA. SEX OFFENDER POLICY: The Geneva Lakes Family YMCA

prohibits access to its facilities or program venues for any individual known to be on the list of Registered Sex Offenders.

SMOKING/TOBACCO POLICY: Use of tobacco products is strictly prohibited inside the Y and on our property.

PHOTO NOTICE: The Y takes photos/videos for promotional use. Notify the photographer if you do not want to be included in pictures.

All cancellations and closures are posted on our website at GenevaLakesYMCA.org, on our Facebook page and through “Remind” our text alert information system for those individuals that send a text to 81010 and type the message “@glymca.”

ELECTRONIC DEVICE USE: Cell phones, cameras and video recording devices are prohibited in all locker rooms and restrooms. Members and guests may not play their own music without headphones in the Y Wellness Center, gyms and program areas.

RACQUETBALL: Two courts and equipment are available for adults 18 and over or children accompanied by an adult. Reserve your court and check out equipment at the front desk. Leagues are organized during the year. See page 16 for details. FREE WELLNESS ASSESSMENT: As part of your Y membership, we include a FREE “get started” personal fitness consultation and orientation that will help you on the path to wellness. SILVERSNEAKERS: A fun, energizing program designed to help older adults take greater control of their health through physical activity! Celebrate Your Birthday Y Style! The Y is a great place to celebrate your child’s birthday. Our party coordinators do all the work so you can relax and enjoy! Adventure Awaits

Campers will be having fun! Making friends! Learning character values and new skills! Our Camp Leaders are trained and dedicated to being good role models for your children. Our days will be packed with activities such as crafts, rock climbing, sports, science, swimming, reading, field trips and more! It’s our goal that your children have an awesome and memorable summer!

Camp Care

Your child’s safety is our #1 priority. Our camp is licensed and our caring staff is trained in CPR, first aid, emergency procedures, child guidance and many other areas. We will be very active during the day and bumps and scrapes can happen. However, rest assured, we will do everything we can to prevent them and are equipped to handle them if they do. The YMCA has a strict policy for end of day camp pick-up. Your kids will only be released to the individuals you authorize.

Teen Leaders in Training Program

For teens ages 13-15, this program is offered for those looking to grow as responsible leaders. Assisting our Day Camp Leaders, Teen Leaders will enhance their teamwork, decision making, service and role model skills. This is a great opportunity to gain skills necessary for future employment and experience that can be used on college applications. Limited spots are available. TRAIN FOR LIFE Last session, the Geneva Lakes Family YMCA introduced a new fitness class called Conditioning Together. Along with a ViPr (a three dimensional weight), participants integrate strength and cardio training to build muscle, burn calories and improve agility. This growing class has been met with much excitement, hard work and an energetic 30 minute workout! SPLASH/SAFETY AROUND WATER What Has Impacted 9 Schools, 211 Students and 7 Instructors? SWIMMING They YMCA’s drowning prevention program called, Safety Around Water or SPLASH! This is a free community service to all Walworth County 2nd graders through their schools. In just this school year alone, 211 students have had the benefit to learn how to be safe in and around water.

This flexible five week, 45 minute program can be tailored to meet the schedule of the school and includes exercises to help kids adjust to water, safety topics, activities reinforcing swim skills and so much more!

“This has been an incredible program and opportunity for our students. It is amazing to see the impact and progress each student makes. We thank the Y for this FREE program and providing a life saving skill to our children.” 2nd Grade Teacher

The YMCA will be hosting their First Annual Sprint for Spring 5K Run/Walk. This chip timed race is open to the community “Rain or Shine”. Registration is required and to guarantee early bird pricing and a t-shirt register by April 14. Immediately following the race is Healthy Kids Day which is a free community event and a national YMCA initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids. YBASE...COMING FALL 2017 YMCA Before & After School Enrichment Program

your child need a safe place

The GENEVA LAKES FAMILY YMCA and the Lake Geneva School District have joined together to provide YBASE, a before and after school enrichment program for the 2017-2018 school year at Central Denison and Star Center Elementary Schools.

What is YBASE? Offered by the GENEVA LAKES FAMILY YMCA this innovative, licensed program is centered on research based core components to keep children active and engaged at each school campus that include:     

Tutoring & Mentoring Arts Education Health & Wellness Leadership Development Service Learning Health & Wellness

Who can come to YBASE? Any child between the ages of 5K-5th grade that are enrolled at Central Denison, Eastview or Star Center Elementary Schools that need before or after school child care.

Where will YBASE be located? Two site locations will be available. One at Central School.

When will YBASE be available? At the start of the 2017 school year, YBASE will be available Monday-Friday from 6:30 am to the start of school. After school care will be available from the end of the school day to 6 pm. Children will have the option to participate in before school care, after school care or both!

Can my child still participate in the Lighted School House Programs?

Yes! The YBASE staff will assure safe delivery of children to and from the programs.

How can I get more information? Registration and fee information will become available May 1 and be posted on the Geneva Lakes YMCA website (GenevaLakesYMCA.org) and Facebook page. Financial Assistance will be available for this program.
