Welcome

Hitting a lick! Things are just great at FCC. Our health is great. Cattle prices are great. This year has been great starting off by being named Seedstock Producer of the Year in Ohio. Humbling being awarded by your peers. Right into the Ohio Beef Expo selling a high selling bull and $27,000 high selling pair that in turn went on to win Grand Champion cow/calf pair at Eastern Regionals, Simmental Breeders Sweepstakes and the Kentucky State Fair. All while the calf was winning her class and division each time. Wow! More customers than we had feeder steers, what a great problem. Customers calling and sending pictures and videos of show winners. Customers who had bulls which seem rare are keeping them as herd sires. Good fortune has been bestowed on us and I have to thank God, Family and Friends. Hard work also never hurt progress.

To say our offering is the best set ever is an understatement. I know everybody states that but the proof is in the pudding and I serve that up as a challenge to new and returning customers to evaluate our stock and give me your opinion. Our new Donna Genetics are just awesome with mass, dimension, belly and power. You’ll want to get in on these trust me. The tried and true genetics of FSCI Erica, Gemstone, Sweet Emotion and Personality along with another New Edition Summer 31H, which was campaigned so successfully by Garrett Bosse.

Our first calf crop by W/C Satisfied went way above expectations. A calving ease specialist that passes on belly, muscle and balanced EPD’s with 4 traits in the top 15%, 9 in the top 25% and all in the top 45%. What I love about him other than his EPD profile is his feet and legs. Just a perfect round foot that’s never even been on a table. Customers raved about their calves as we used him heavy again this year.

On the family front, John’s roofing business is growing and doing exceptionally well. We know good educators and Holly is at the top of the spectrum. Noli is a straight A student that cheerleads for football, plays baseball and Irish dances competitively winning many awards, WOW! Poppy, well Poppy is just a wild child. That girl will never be taken advantage of. Lindsey and Ryan are two of the most dedicated, hardest working individuals you could find. Their son Hudson started preschool this fall. He is all boy at three he got his own 4 wheeler so we could have a chance on ours! Christen, now Ighnat, a hugely successful market rep for KMK Products is always there in time of need. My mother turned 86 and will run circles around most.

When you evaluate this amazing set of cattle I will tell you it didn’t just happen. Our team came together as always to put together a superior product. Lindsey did an amazing job organizing the crew and records while keeping everyone moving forward. Scott did a bang up job breeding and managing the cattle. Griffin and Gabe, his sons, are sure learning the ropes. Pat has been busy making new pastures, hay fields and keeping things running. Eric Montgomery is a blessing coming winter and spring. Garrett graduated from the Ohio State University and we were able to retain him as show barn manager. Gina Sheets graduated from ATI and has been a real superstar stepping up lately. The list of family and friends that all chip in when needed, I can’t show my gratitude enough!

We are humbled at the continued interest in our program and the many successes our customers have and continue to have. We thank you for taking the time to evaluate our genetics.

God Bless America,

John Ferguson

Who says lightning doesn’t strike twice? A little history on this mating, a black baldy full sib sold for $22,000 in our Rare Vintage sale. Her first calf sired by Satisfied was a bull that won his class at The Ohio State Fair this year. Another full sib sold for $11,000 private treaty. Last year another full sib was our cover girl and the new owners have been flushing her. It’s no secret that red baldies are a hot commodity but this one is more than just her pretty face. Trends come and go, but what separates good cattle from great cattle is what’s under the hide. This heifer brings the look and design that turns heads all day long. But more importantly she backed by the structural integrity and maternal genetics that will keep her working long after the banners are folded up. Whether you’re chasing purple or building a program, she’s the kind that adds value beyond the backdrop. Buy her and build memories! Terms on sale day. Entered in the NAILE junior and open shows.

Backed by E727, the powerhouse Gemstone x Executive Order donor, that’s been quietly making noise in our program and its easy to see why. That kind of maternal influence sets the foundation, but what really seals the deal is what she brings to the surface. Built off the tried and true Broker line who is sill the king when it comes to making the kind that flat out win. This one hits you hard with that cocky up headed look and the kind of eye appeal that demands a second look. She’s cool in her lines, bold in her rib, and sets down on a running gear that says she’s in it for the long haul. Big time show ring genetics with the kind of presence that puts you at the front of the class, this ones bred and built to get you to where you need to go. Entered in the NAILE junior and open shows. Sweet Emotion did it again! If this one doesn’t scream extreme I don’t know what will! But never before have we had a Sweet Emotion daughter built quite like 505. It’s not every day a purebred Simmental in the USA and Canada can be this freaky fronted all while having so much natural substance packing behind that smooth angular shoulder. Her pieces are extreme but yet still come together for a look of preeminence. Usually, the wild looking females are the ones with testy temperaments but not this one! She is so sweet in her disposition you’ll have a lifelong best friend. Sweet Emotion has produced numerous National Champions and AI Sires. A great cattleman once told me if they don’t look like their breed they’re a great one. There is history and a bright future. Tie in. Entered in the NAILE junior and open shows.

Show her hard early or tie into her for the long haul this one’s got the gas to do both! Entered in the NAILE junior and open shows.

When one comes with that kind of presence, volume to her center body and cushion to her hind leg, its easy to see why she has already notched a reserve division win at the AJSA national classic. While her overall balance and look blade forward make for a killer profile, obviously, her true value lies when you get right on top of her. Her internal dimension is so impressive. Donor Spotlight

Sandeen Donna 1316

When Lindsey and I evaluated 1316, we both agreed we needed to add her to our gene pool. We thought she would be a game changer based on her structural integrity and overall massiveness yet still being ultra feminine. There are plenty of females that check a few boxes, but very few check all of them. 1316 does. She’s powerful without sacrificing refinement, bold in her design yet soft and maternal in her kind. Every trip to Iowa that’s the first female I want to see. Her kind of presence is rare. To be a great one they have to replicate at a high level and with consistency. With this offering we have proven that it won’t be the bull but rather this generational female that will move this breed forward. This was the first flush on the $130,000 pick from the building a brand sale, to say it was exceptional only diminishes the results. If you follow our social media closely, you’ll will have undoubtedly gotten to know Sandeen Donna L332 or as we call her “Rocket.” A true powerhouse female, Rocket exemplifies the kind of dimension and skeletal quality that we imagined when first laying eyes upon 1316 in ‘21. We picked her out of the pasture to show some and slating her 12 o’clock to be a heavy bred at Louisville. I believe we are on track. A true “no holes” female, 332 comes with the kind of volume and mass that consistently transmits real world value and does so without giving up any circumference of foot and bone, comfort at the ground, or elegance to her head and neck set. One we chose to show early and often, I told the kids we would never sell this one. I have been unpopular for awhile now. Take the chance to get in on this one as she prepares to hit 12 o’clock at Louisville in November. Selling ½ embryo interest no possession

She’s got style, she’s got grace, she’s a winner! Affectionately known by the crew as “Lady”, 380 is a thick backed, big hipped Remedy daughter that brings all of the chrome while sacrificing none of the quality of 1316 progeny. If you like “Rocket”, L332, then you’ll like Lady for her expressive maternal shape and commanding look up front, but you’ll love her puppy dawg attitude. Bred up early to Woodford, this Lady knows her place, and its in your donor pen!

How many cattle have that deep V? A smooth made individual that will reap rewards for years to come. This is one that you could calve out and flush quickly and even throw a halter on and be highly competitive in the cow/calf pair division at Junior Nationals and your State Fair. Win! Win!

She has the white in all the right places that everyone is on the hunt for, you could almost say she’s “cover girl” material. 379 is perhaps the most refined, but just like her sisters, this is one you could build a herd from. Truly built from the ground up, we love this one for her foot shape and leg design and find her length of spine and femininity simply irresistible. A mark of a true Donor is consistency and so far 1316 has hit on an array Sires. Out of one of the most exclusive AI Sires on the market, 371 is a direct daughter of the 620,000 ½ semen interest Tecumseh. At last year’s Rare Vintage sale, a full sib and our first and only 1316 daughter offered thus far rang the bell commanding 30,000 to Penny and Brad at PB Simmentals. 371 exudes style and class that you can appreciate for her long hip and lower 1/3 which can be hard to do on a larger framed female. To top it off, this gorgeous female is extra sweet in her disposition and could contend in Denver as a heavy bred! We think Satisfied will complement 371 by adding that massive middle he is stamping on them.

Don’t be the person that missed out on a chance to get a Donna in your Donor battery. If I was a betting man, this Woodford calf is going to hit the ground running with a surplus of hair and show ring appeal.

Donna 0244 - Dam of Lots 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 & 21

A genetic goldmine with the look to boot. Analyze the pedigree on this one and it’s easy to find some of the most valuable cattle the Simmental breed has to offer. It’s easy to get fired up about a top side stamped by the $620,000 ½ semen interest Tecumseh and $80,000 Sandeen Donna 0244 on the bottom. The only daughter offered out of this mating combines the cornerstone donors of HF Serena 74Y and Coleman Donna 386. Talk about pedigree. This one isn’t just good on paper she has the phenotype to back it up, with her thick lower quarter, long hip and tidy neck, she is sure to be an income generator. Work off this one, you will look wise! Satisfied will surely compliment her strengths and generate a slush fund.

Sandeen

Sandeen Donna 8302 Family

One of the longest spined breds in the offering, she is a 6 frame score. You have to appreciate her wide pin set and big hip. She will be a maternal machine. Her Dam was just named Grand champion Cow/ Calf pair at The Ohio State Fair and Reserve Champion Simmental female as an open at the Empire State Classic. Early to Satisfied.

23 Coleman Donna 1234 - Dam of Lots 23, 24 & 25

Picture this, slap some mountains behind this one and she’s straight out of a Coleman catalog. It’s very rare when Larry flushes a Donna to a Simmental, but sure glad he did. 333 is a behemoth creature that, I don’t know if I can accurately describe, but we’ll give it a shot. This one has much as much spring of rib, depth of body, and overall maternal volume as any that we’ve every offered. Study her from the ground up and you’ll be blown away by this ones combination of foot size, pin width, and broad muscle shape. We should keep all three Donna 1234’s and breed them up to purebreds but bills are bills. Much more impressive in person, believe me! This one’s destined for greatness. We will retain possession and ½ embryo interest.

Coleman Donna 1234 Family

A low input, high caliber revenue maker. Probably the sexiest female of the three, 343 is one many cattleman would describe as near perfect from the shoulders back, and that's not a shot at her front end, which is near perfect in and of itself. Study this one hard, as she’s a no hole’s kind of female. Putting two of the best cow families in the business together. Hold on! Safe to Epic, sexed female, added value here!

I’ll say it again, cow families matter. The internal dimension, length of spine, coupled with that sleek front end will move a program to elite status fast. Added value with a star on her forehead. Some consider her the best of the three. Evaluate the three and let’s talk! Satisfied will bring a 3/4 blood hammer!

Feona F836 is a proven producer year in and year out. A Lock n Load daughter sold last year for $7,500 and a Grand Fortune daughter sold for $14,000 the year prior, both have produced in a big way for their owners. 391 is an ultra feminine, awesome constructed female going back to the original Sandeen Donna 8386 cow. These F836 descendants have been very impactful in their respective cow herds. Good property. Safe to Satisfied for early success.

CCS/JS SUMMER 31H - Dam of Lots 27, 28, 29 & 30 Reserve Champion Percentage Simmental Cow Calf Pair 2022 Simmental Eastern Regionals; Calf at side sired by Lover Boy

CCS/JS Summer 31H, known by the crew as “Dixie”, was our pick from and the high selling percentage female from JS’s 2020 Midwest Made Elite Female Sale commanding a $17,000 hammer price. In her time on halter, 31H was a heavy structured, uniquely angular female who came with a special combination of rib shape and lower third progression. As a result, Dixie was no stranger to success in the ring finding herself reserve overall percentage pair at Eastern Regionals, 7th overall pair at the National Classic and a class win in an extremely deep division at Cattleman’s Congress as a bred. This star-headed daughter carries many similarities to her donor dam, reading as a deep sided, bold sprung option who possesses the added cow power and hair quality to produce quick blooming prospects. Better yet, she’s safe in calf to the great Lover Boy!

CCS/JS Summer 31H Family

Summer 31H - Dam of Lots 27, 28, 29 & 30

This solid black daughter out of the up-and-coming CCS/JS Summer 31H “Dixie” donor is one you will want to get your eyes on. With a docile disposition she is not only one you’ll love having in your pasture, but with her array of pieces, she could easily find a home in your donor pen. In our personal opinion 396 is the combination heifer of the trio full sisters. 396 comes with an elegant front end that ties in high out of her smooth shoulder, a long level spine and plenty of rib shape, all while maintaining those perfect hind legs that her mother was known for and to top it off, she doesn’t have that typical Simmental hair. When planning her future, we figured there was no better option than Remedy’s hottest son, Remnant. We anticipate this mating will command the show ring right off the jump! 396 has the potential to take your herd to the next level.

CCS/JS Summer 31H Family

While BOSC Summer M404 stands next to three maternal siblings, she undoubtedly offers a refreshing package of balance and femininity in her design. Elegant in her head shape and neck set, 404 ties back into a square and proportional build carrying her perfect frame size around the pasture on an ideal set of feet and legs. True Simmental enthusiasts will surely recognize this one’s genetic value as the combination of Summer and Relentless has been nothing short of dominant, topping numerous sales and collecting countless purple banners at every level. Look for 404’s first calf to provide a quick return as Remnant picks up heat, producing high selling prospects.

Lot 29

Check out that look up front! I’d venture to say this brockle comes with some of the farthest reaching pieces of her trio of full siblings, as it’s not every day you find one that manages to combine that kind of arrogant presence from her shoulders forward with such flexibility and comfort at the ground. Bred to the recently deceased W/C Bet on Red 481H, 405 also offers a unique genetic opportunity, packing her first calf’s pedigree with some of the most prominent donors in the breed, including the likes of WHF Summer 365c, W/C Angel 7113E, and multiple doses Miss Werning KP 8543U. Admittedly she is one of the quicker ones of the bunch but is starting to settle down the more she matures.

W/C Miss Werning 990G Family

Lot 31

990G is a model matriarch and donor with an outcross pedigree. A SAM open topped the Rare Vintage sale two years ago at 20,000 to Scott Sandeen. A flush sold for 5,500 to Mike Cox and he turned around in a couple months and sold a pregnancy for 6,000 out of that flush. 990G progeny just flat get it done. This 342 needs to be in a Donor pen somewhere. Don’t snooze on this one. Safe to Private Stock, a planned mating generates seven traits in the top 40%, four of which are in the top 30%, topped off with a 134 API. W/C Miss Werning 990G - Dam of Lot 31

UDE Ellie 2024 Family

The Angus division! What it lacks in numbers it makes up for in quality. Anybody who’s visited the farm has been quick to find these UDE Ellie 2024 daughters and lucky for you, this is the first one offered! 2024 was our pick from the 22’ The Advantage sale from Udell Cattle Company, and saw much success as a show heifer earning Champion Angus at the Scarlet and Gray Midwest Showdown and Reserve Angus at the Empire Beef Classic. 410 is the first natural calf from 2024 and to say she hit a home run would be an understatement. True cattleman found her when she was still on the cow. With

We have had quite a few Alley 247Y breds in our sale over the years. They all sell at the top and go on to be big producers. 416 is so well balanced, smooth and elegant with a giraffe neck. We thought so much of 416 that we bred her to Rojas Rioja the Red Angus phenom. Not sure if you can even find semen and if you do it’s expensive. 416 Does have a small blind spot in one eye.

TNGL A Gemstone A527 Family

Gemstone is stronger than ever. Just recently at The Ohio Beef Expo, an Executive Order cow calf pair sold to Steve Watson for 27,000. She went on to win Grand Champion cow/calf pair at Eastern Regionals, Simmental Breeders Sweepstakes and Kentucky State Fair with the calf winning her class and Division. Her half bloods are phenomenal. A Primo for Megan Brown won numerous National shows. A Primo for us produced a stellar Private Stock bull. 360 and 364 closely resemble one another hairy, square, ample middle with squeaky clean front ends. Pay attention to the AI Sire, both to Executive Order. That combo works on Gemstone. We have a Donor, a 30,000 open and a 27,000 cow/calf Champion at 3 big time shows. It’s a famous recipe.

Combining the great Silveiras Style 9303 and our cornerstone donor Gemstone A527 has been a highly anticipated mating. These are the first half bloods offered out of Gemstone in the Rare Vintage. The cross definitely delivered. L355 is the best hair female of this mating. She is deep sided, thick made and cool fronted. The 8543U crosses on Gemstone have been proven successes. She is called safe to W/C Night Watch for a January calf. Should be a good one!

TNGL A Gemstone A527 Family

Lot 38

A Gemstone x Bullseye known by the crew as “Ruby” is a fan favorite that we kept after we sold several for $7,000 to $20,000. Dwyer sold two, one for 12,000 and another for 20,000 from embryos purchased. 336 has the necessary power all while presenting a feminine package. An epic cow coming with an Epic calf.

A first and last chance at a 24 Karat x Gemstone as well as our first time offering half bloods out of this Donor in the Rare Vintage . M406 coming from a line of great hair genetics paired with Woodford is going to give you a fuzzy one to watch out for in the percentage shows. Stout made in a moderate package that will make a great addition to your herd.

C516 was Gemstones’ first natural calf. She’s 10 but looks 5 and brings a showstopper to the ring every year. The Gemstone 20/20’s have worked very well selling from $5,000 to $20,000 for half adding a donor to our our battery. Duke is a full sib and as you will agree did a great job. Bred up to Woodford for a bell ringer.

42 FSCI Laney L352

Success! That’s what you’ll get when you buy into 129Y progeny. 129Y was the high selling half blood at Werning’s in 2011. She is still breeding and her udder is still amazing. She regularly sells calves from $5,000 to $10,500. Scott Barrett bought a Wide Track for $10,500 (a maternal sib to Lot 42). We kept the next one. 352 is moderate, hairy and good off all fours! Buy her and build an empire. Early to Woodford, hold on it’ll be a good ride.

Ms Personality Family

This open faced baldy is a power cow while maintaining a very feminine head and neck. Lock n Load pedigree cows are valuable and a mainstay within the breed. When you evaluate 340 you’ll see why. Great type and kind. Safe to Satisfied. This one is going to be a banger. Fight to the finish to get this one!

A little younger bred in the offering. A knockout front end and all of the spine in the world. We really like the Coleman Dixie Erica for her power and substance and udder quality that is unmatched. We should not be selling this one. I sound like a broken record but these Ericas out produce themselves. A full sib to J175 sold to DMCC for 25,000, out of the stall at Denver, wins her class and division the next day. Effling’s buy an Erica Lutton for 17,000, you’ve seen what Chris has done with her. Oh and a Broker by Effling’s female was Grand Champion bull in Denver. We sold a full sibling to 436’s dam go two years ago in our Rare Vintage sale. Garrett Bosse bought her for 3,500 when everyone was asleep at the wheel. The open heifer BOSC Erica N2 by VCL Foresight is a out of her and she is BIG TIME. Not by your average herd bull, K205 is a young producer that’s already sired this year’s high selling Simmental bull at the Ohio Beef Expo, who just so happened to also be the youngest bull there. Don’t be asleep this time, you’ll regret it!

Erica Lutton Family

Lot 47

Another Erica with outcross genetics. Ericas produce and this one will at a high level. 403 is one of the youngest breds in the sale. She’s got that excellent udder development that Erica’s and Countertime are known for. Valuable genetics that are time tested. Woodford will be a barn burner.

Here you go, customers always ask if we have more Ericas. Ericas Lutton has some deep seeded roots here and her valued genetics have made their way into many progressive herds across the country. Why? Because they work. 412, a purebred Simmental that started as an Angus. The old girl is still alive as a S model. Success is right around the corner with Woodford.

We purchased 011H, known as Calista around here, From Highland Acres based on her massive middle and tidy front 1/3. Mating her to Warlord, the $40,000 Donna 8302 x Wheatland’s Man O War, produced this premium female. A no holes product bred to Epic sexed female, bonus plus one!

A last and a first. A really good red cow from the last of the recently deceased HPF Desa Rea 25Y, and the first calf from an impressive Broker x Erica combination. You’ll have to run a few miles to find one this good. Save your fuel, find her right here. Bred to Loverboy, he has a red gene too!

The $317,500 Canadian Wheatland Man O War out of Sandeen Donna 8302 which commanded $260,000 for ½ interest. I’m not sure I understand the EPD profile when using the American and Canadian Simmental Associations. We sent one of the first Warlord calves to a Canadian buyer and he reported weaning an 800lb bull calf. His dam is our highly successful Summer daughter 31H shown by Garrett Bosse. I guess we should have named him Prince. 395 also brings about the maternal powerhouse of WHF Summer 365c who has not only produced countless national champions and high sellers, but has made a killing producing some of the industries most popular AI sires. We look forward to welcoming each of you to Northeast Ohio to this year’s Rare Vintage Production Sale at Ferguson Cattle Company. It’s no secret we are witnessing historic times in the beef cattle industry with the nations cow herd sitting at 60 year lows in terms of numbers and a strong demand continuing for beef across the nation. As we as producers look to expand the nations cow herd we must look deeply into what makes a profitable cow herd across a decade of production.

Profitability is strongly tied in this industry to fertility and longevity, these two factors are as strongly tied to the cow/calf profitability as any two factors you will find on EPD chart. As you look through this catalog and do your research studying the herd that has been built at Ferguson Cattle you will quickly note that fertility and longevity has been bred deeply into this operation. The donor battery includes Gemstone A527 who continues to get the job done at 12 years of age. The Donna tribe began at Coleman Angus and was brought into the Simmental herd book by Sandeen Genetics, the cow families behind the prominent Donna descendants working here at Ferguson Cattle represent four decades of focused breeding with fertility and longevity at the forefront of every mating decision. These are just a few examples but as you dive into this operation you will quickly see the cow base behind the sale offering is second to none.
