This publication is a collection of the design projects produced at the International Workshop, held in the period of 24.01-28.01.2022. The WorkshopispartoftheprojectTowardsSustainableFuture:SustainableBuildingsChallenge.Theworkthatisbeingproduced attheWorkshop intends to serve as a guide for architects and engineers involved in the process of building design and construction, to improve their knowledge in Sustainable Buildings Design and to stimulate implementation in the architectural design practice. Also, it is inteded for common citizens alike which would like to learn more about Sustainable Buildings and how they can contribute to their better life quality as wellas the opoortunities they provide for preserving the environment.

We hope that the materialpresented will instigate creative and innovative thinking for further advancements in sustainable building design.

Removalofwindowparapetsonthebalconies,inorderto increasetheirsizeandgivelargerlighttransmit. Removaloftheparapetsonsomeofthebalconiesand completeglazingofthefence.

Sunnyareatothesouth.Possibilitytousethe livingspace.Usedinthewinterforheatingthe interior. Coolingisprovidedinthesummerwith shapersandairconditioners.

Structuralfacade.Installationofthermalinsulationof 10cm,andfinishingofexternalfacadeplaster. Therewouldbenochangeinthesurfaceofthe windows,butonlyareplacementwithnewmore efficientwindows.

Therewouldbenore-zoningofthepremises,theonly possiblereasoningwouldbeonthestairs(hatch 247,242,127)ontheoppositesidewhichwouldleadtothe entranceofthebuildingitselftobechangedortoenter fromtheback.Thepremisesinthistypeofbuildingsare wellplaced.

Woodenverticalshaderswouldbeplaced onlyonthesouthfaçadeincombination withthegreenfaçadewhichwouldprovide additionalcoolinginthesummer.Thereis noneedtoinstallshadowsonthenorth facade.

WINDOWOPENINGSIMPROVEMENT

Removalofshadersplacednearthestairwellinordertoreceive uninterruptedlightthroughthestairwellcore. ReplacementoftheoldwoodenwindowswithnewmoreefficientonesPVCwithdouble-layerglazingwithoneglass.Expansionandremovalof theparapetoftheopeningsthatleadtothebalconiestoconnecttheinterior withtheexterior.

Extensionofthebalconiesfrom1st-4thfloorwithsmallgardens. Integratingarchitectureandlandscape.Thegardensarelevelwith theground.Greeneryplaystheroleofavisualcomponent,which providesmoreprivacyfortheapartments.Althoughwithasmall height,itstillpromotesthefeelingofbeingsurroundedbyagarden.

Ontheshorterfacadesinaverticalline,greeneryisplacedwhich wouldreducethetemperatureinthesummerdays,andalso additionallyaestheticallyimprovestheappearanceofthewhole building.

SHADINGELEMENTS

Onthesouth-eastfacade,onlyhorizontalshadingelements (louvres)areinstalled,whileonthesouth-westfacade,verticaland horizontalshadingelementsareplaced,whichpreventsthe intrusionofdirectlightintotheroomsinsummerandincreasethe lightandheatinwinter.
