Fig. 1. Extension module (on the left – door view, on the right – casing interior, version MCR-R0448-4).

The device casing is made of steel, painted in light grey colour (~RAL7035), designed for surface installation, with the possibility to enter cables from the top or from the back. The casing door is locked with a key. Component elements no. 2, 3, 4, 6 are located inside the casing, on the mounting plate. Batteries B1, B2 (elements no. 5) are placed on the bottom of the casing and connected to appropriate terminals. The output lines of the device (to actuators) and the battery circuit are protected against short-circuit using fuses, the number and size of fuses depends on the module version. The module also includes an overcurrent circuit breaker protecting the power supply mains 230 V~. Tab. 1 Summary of fuse sizes. Module type 0424-1 0424-2 0448-1 0448-2 0448-4 0424-K 0448-K

The device is equipped with signalling of the following states: 1. 230V~ (power supply present) - green LED on, 2. Uszkodzenie (failure) - yellow LED on + signal sent to the central controller (active in the case of: missing power supply 230V~, missing or discharged batteries, damaged output line). 3. Praca (Drives - operation of actuators) - yellow LED on, For operation it is necessary to connect the module input to the actuators output of the central controller MCR9705 or MCR0204. One actuators output of the central controller can control only one extension module. Modules can be connected in cascade, i.e. module output can be connected to the input of a successive module. The module actuates the actuators in accordance with the signals from the central controller, present on the actuators line output (opens in the case of alarm, closes after the alarm is reset, opens and closes for ventilation).

MCR-R04XX TECHNICAL AND OPERATIONAL DOCUMENTATION

In the case of missing mains power supply 230 V~ of the module or the central controller, vents can only be opened in the case of alarm, and the ventilation function is blocked in order to protect the batteries from discharging. Note: do not leave the device without mains power supply for a period longer than 72 h with batteries connected, due to the possibility of their damage.

4. TRANSPORT, DELIVERY, STORAGE Modules are delivered as assembled, in individual packages. Batteries are delivered separately. Devices should be stored in dry rooms, at temperatures of 0C÷40C.

5. MODULE INSTALLATION The module should be installed near the devices which are to be controlled by the module, in a place ensuring access to the device. During installation, disconnect all sources of power supply of the devices being installed. Use the types of connection cables in accordance with the up-to-date regulations (in particular §187 of the technical conditions for buildings and their location, Decree of the Minister of Infrastructure of 12.04.2005, Journal of Laws No. 75, item 690), of adequate cross-sections. Installation of the module should be performed in the following sequence: 1. Fasten the casing to the wall using steel fasteners, chosen for the substrate material: recommended fasteners have minimum diameter of the connecting element Ø8, e.g. M8 (note: do not drill holes in walls through the casing). 2. Make electrical connections in accordance with the enclosed diagrams (connect the central controllers, actuating devices, line termination resistors). 3. Connect the device to the power supply mains. Put connectors on the battery terminals. Switch on the overcurrent circuit breaker inside the casing. The LED 230V~ should be on. The LEDs PRACA (operation) and USZKODZENIE (failure) should remain unlit off. 4. Check the functioning of the system by actuating alarm from all available sources. 5. The device is ready for operation after the batteries are charged (up to 48 h from the first connection of the power supply mains, if the connected actuators are not used).

6. MAINTENANCE The module is basically a maintenance-free device, however the condition of the device should be inspected in accordance with the following list in order to ensure the operability of the smoke exhaust system: 1. Check the condition of the central controllers which control the module – if they signal no defects (every day). 2. Check the power supply of the extension modules (approx. every 3 days). If the power supply has been missing (or can be supposed to have been missing) for more than 72 h, call authorised service of MERCOR SA in order to inspect the condition of batteries. 3. Check the system operation by activating the alarm signal, and then clear the alarm signal. Check whether the connected devices have been opened and closed properly (once per month).
