Ivyland 2024

About Ellen Hall Ellen Hall grew up in San Antonio, TX and discovered her art talent beginning at just age 4 when she would watch her mother work as a hairdresser. Young Ellen would sit and sketch the person getting their hair done to the amazement of her mother and her clients. From there it began and grew. Later she attended North Texas State University for Art Education and became a secondary school art teacher finding a new way to use her talents. Ellen moved to New Hope, PA in 1973 and became known in the Bucks County art community with her locally-themed work and captivating portraits which have been shown in galleries in New Hope, Doylestown, Lambertville and Warminster among many others. A prolific artist, her work includes oils, pastels and watercolors that are vibrant and engaging. She’s also painted murals including one currently in Buckingham Green and for a private client in a New York City luxury apartment. In the early 1980s, Ellen moved to Ivyland, PA where she found a new and rich source of inspiration in the surrounding borough itself. She also taught Art at William Tennent High School helping young and aspiring artists develop their skills. For the last 20 years, Ellen has headed up the Ivyland Art Group, which she founded, featuring a group of talented local artists who meet weekly to create and share their work. She continues to joyfully do that today.
