Gefen Gallery is pleased to present The Message Within, an exhibition that delves into the enigmatic and thought-provoking works of the Skye Brothers. This will be first solo exhibition of the Skye Brothers at Gefen Gallery, and will be on view from April 20th until May 30, 2023.

Hailing from Eindhoven, Netherlands, the Skye Brothers are a dynamic artistic duo comprised of brothers Liam and Noah. The duo honed their craft and explored various techniques and medias for years, ultimately perfecting their unique contemporary abstract style on their quest for “the perfect painting”.

After 6 years of experimenting, they discovered their signature style— contemporary abstract art. They narrowed their palette to a minimal selection of colors: white and black text on textured black, red, and gold canvases, centered around a poignant statement or question. The Message Within is a collection of this work, provoking the viewer to feel and hear the music of their artistry.

While the brothers borrow from domains of style such as Minimalism, Abstract Expressionism, and Color Field Painting, their work is not about a specific medium or technique; but rather, about heart and soul. In the words of Liam and Noah, “in a world that is slowly being consumed by the past and the future, by opinions and money, we are in desperate need of people that cut through the noise, people that strip away the nonsense and show the world what truly matters.”

“We can talk about media, techniques and whatnot for days, but we would be missing the point completely. Art isn’t about that nonsense. Art is about heart, it is about soul. We make art beacuse we have this fire within, a voice that needs to be heard - and we just have to give into it.

It’s like being a musician; there is this music within, and it just has to come out. We make art because when we leave this world, we want our hearts to be shattered across a thousand different canvases. Like a supernova, we want to leave the world with a firework display of golden hues, love and divine beauty.

So, if you want to know what we are about, well, just skip all the nonsense and cut straight to the painfully simple truth: we are here to make fucking music. Art happens to be our instrument.”
