Do you know your left hand from your right? Can you commit to being with us once a week? You can ring bells. Yes, it’s really that easy! Hand bells will begin on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 7:30 PM in the music room. All people from 5th grade and up are welcome to come join us. UMW EVENTS The UMW Back-To-School Bake Sale is next Sunday before and after the worship service. Please bring your goodies (already packaged) to the fellowship hall before 10:00 AM. The executive board will meet at noon following the bake sale in room 204. Tues, 9/10, 7:30 pm: Marilyn-Mildred Circle meets at Denise Wright’s home. Sat, 9/14, Alexandria District UMW Spiritual Life Event @ Sudley UMC FACETS The Marilyn Mildred Circle prepared meals on Sunday evening for homeless and needy people. They served 69 meals at the four sites in Fairfax City. Kitchen workers included Sheila Coffin, Mary Sue France, Robin Sachlis, Debi Salman, and her friend, Lyn Vice. The delivery team included Duane and Ann Riege and Kathleen McLane. Shoppers were Jean and Al Polk, pick-up for milk (children) were Kathy and Chuck Heberle, and Margaret Becking delivered leftover meals to the Lamb Center on Monday. Many thanks to all who helped!
DONATE BLOOD St. George's is supporting St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in its blood drive on Monday, September 16, 2013. Blood drive hours are 2:00-7:00 P.M. St. Stephen's is located at 9203 Braddock Road in Burke. Donors must be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 years old (16 with parents' consent), and not have donated since July 22nd. The ALYX System will be available for those who wish to make a "double red" donation. To schedule an appointment, contact Roger Hartman [rogerhartman47@gmail.com or 703.425.7268]. Roger prefers that donors make appointments, but walk-ins will be accepted. FOOD PANTRY NEEDS The pantry is low on items such as canned vegetables, pastas, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, peanut butter. jelly (any flavor) and diapers sizes 4 and 5. Please bring in your non-perishable items to help stock up. PRESCHOOL NEWS The preschool is gearing up for the 20132014 school year. Thursday the 5th and Friday the 6th the staff and teachers will host an open house in preparation for the start of classes on Monday September 9th. Our thoughts and prayers are with the staff, teachers, and students as they prepare for a new year. Space is available for registration.
