CAMPERSHIP PROGRAM GUIDE 2025

CAMPERSHIP
2025
The GDHS Campership Program makes it possible for children to enjoy a memorable and fun-filled experience at summer camp. Camp fees are funded through contributions from community groups, businesses, corporations and individuals.
Scholarships are available for children 5-14 years of age to attend local day camps or a sleep-away camp in Connecticut. The maximum age for sleep-away camp is 13 or going into 8th grade.
To qualify for this program, a family's income must not exceed 300% of the current Federal poverty guidelines. This means that a family of four should have a gross monthly income of $7,800 or less to be eligible.
If you would like to apply for this program, please call your case manager to make an appointment. Remember to bring the completed Campership application to your appointment along with the following:
• Proof of residency—at least 6 months (copy of utility bill, lease, etc.)
• Proof of income (last 4 pay stubs, letter from your employer)
• All current bank statements.
Applications without this information will not be processed. Camp applications cannot be dropped off at our reception window.
In addition, a Campership Pre-Registration online form MUST be completed for each child applying for a scholarship.

APPLICATIONS DUE NO LATER THAN MARCH 7, 2025!
PRE-REGISTRATION FORM
DIRECTIONS
A Campership pre-registration online form MUST be completed for each child applying for a scholarship. Your application is not complete without the pre-registration form.
You will be asked to select your Top 3 camp choices.
Choice 1 should be your most wanted, followed by Choice 2 and Choice 3. Due to limited camp spots, submitting an application and pre-registration form does not guarantee a Campership Scholarship.
Please do not select the same camp and same session/dates for every choice. This will limit your chances of getting a scholarship since GDHS only has a select number of spots available for each camp.
You can select the same camp but different sessions for each choice, but also include a backup camp. For example, if your child wants to attend Camp Simmons they can choose:
Choice 1: Camp Simmons Session 1
Choice 2: Camp Simmons Session 2
Choice 3: Kamp Kairphree Session 1
Please make sure you reference the Campership Program Guide when completing the online pre-registration form. It’s very important to review the age requirements for each camp and if transportation is provided. Please do not pick a camp that does not provide transportation if you require transportation.
Please make sure to review the session and dates. Only select sessions and dates where your child can attend every day. If you know your child will be on vacation, please select a different camp or session and date. For example, if a camp is for 4 weeks but you can only attend 3 weeks, please do not select that camp. Campership is funded by the GDHS Fund thanks to generous donations. GDHS Fund pays for each week of camp and will still have to pay for the days your child didn’t attend.
Camps are a full day and if your child is attending summer school then your child is not eligible for Campership.
Families who have been awarded a Campership are expected to maintain their attendance. If your child is sick or going to be absent for more than 2 days, you must notify the camp and Jamie Annunziato at (203) 622-3715 or email jamie.annunziato@greenwichct.gov.
GDHS Campership policy is that poor attendance/no-shows will result in the removal of the camper from Campership consideration for the duration of one year. GDHS clients who continue to show poor attendance or are no-shows will be permanently removed from consideration.
