Explore the diverse and breathtaking landscapes of Wilpena Pound with these selfguided trails, offering varying levels of difficulty and rich insights into the area’s natural beauty.

Hill’s Homestead (Easy, 6.6 km): A gentle walk through history, featuring interpretive signage that tells the story of the daughter of the first European family to live in the area. It’s perfect for a leisurely stroll through the picturesque landscape.

Wangarra Lookouts (Moderate, 7.2–7.8 km): This trail is an extension of the Hill’s Homestead walk, offering stunning views from within Wilpena Pound. It provides a moderate challenge with spectacular panoramas along the way.

Mount Ohlssen Bagge (Difficult, 6.4 km):

A tough hike with rocky inclines, this trail rewards hikers with excellent views of the surrounding ranges and diverse reptile life. The peak reaches 941 meters above sea level, providing breathtaking vistas from the top.

Drought Busters Hike (Moderate, 1.5 km): A loop trail showcasing the adaptation of bush plants and an array of wildflowers, this shorter, moderate hike is perfect for those looking to explore the unique flora of the region.

St Mary’s Peak (Strenuous, 14.6–21.5 km):

The highest peak in the national park, this challenging trail offers 360-degree views from the summit. It includes steep and rocky sections, so it’s recommended to avoid the climb in wet weather.
