ELAINE FRIEND ’16

my undergrad experience as a theatre major at gcsu sharpened my multitasking skills, ability to communicate and lead in a professional setting, and directly led me to my passion—teaching children’s theatre. My advice to current students is dip your toe in a little of everything—you never know where you’ll find your shine.

HALEY FUSIA ’18

the gcsu theatre department taught me so much about collaborative creative work and the value of understanding each role in a production through experience. My biggest pieces of advice to current students are to take advantage of learning every role on or o stage and to foster relationships within the department because you never know who you might end up working with later!

KENZIE BRADLEY ’20

i came in to gcsu as an aspiring director and thanks to a basic scenic art class, i found my passion and i’m now a professional scenic artist in the bay area.

LAURA SWARNER ’20

AZARIA HOGANS ’15

Assistant Professor of Dance | Dance Coordinator at Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance

i learned so much as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and overall artist.

I am forever grateful for my time there. My biggest piece of advice for new students is don't be afraid to get involved and don't be afraid to be a beginner. We all have to start somewhere but the start is just that, the start.

the dance minor program at gcsu is very unique in how robust it is. i had so many opportunities to cultivate my practice both within and outside of the curriculum.

JUSTIN KALIN ’16

Associate Artistic Director at Out Front Theatre Company | Casting Director at Actor’s Express

i wouldn’t be where i am today if not for the education i received at gcsu and the support of the faculty. The theatre program at Georgia College & State Unviersity gave so many hands-on opportunities from designing to directing, all of which contributed to my growth as an artist. By the time I graduated, I was prepared and confident enough to fully immerse myself in professional theatre. I'd encourage any current or prospective students to take advantage of all the hands-on, collaborative opportunities o ered at GCSU!
