As part of this initiative, selected faculty members received a complimentary 60day trial account. Users anticipated an email from the DrillBit team containing their login credentials. This trial period provided an opportunity to explore the software’s features and assess its effectiveness in supporting research and academic writing.

The Research Development Unit (RDU) of Gordon College continues to play a vital role in supporting student research, as evidenced by 1,505 electronic log entries recorded from January to December 2024. These figures highlight the increasing demand for research-related assistance across different colleges.
Among the students who accessed RDCES services, the College of Accountancy and Business Administration (CBA) accounted for the largest share of visits at 39.6%, followed by the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences (CEAS) at 29.6%. The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) contributed 17%, while the College of Allied Health Studies (CAHS) and College of Computer Studies (CCS) recorded 9.8% and 6%, respectively.

The data also revealed that the primary reason for student visits was research consultation, making up a significant 71.9% of total visits. This indicates a strong reliance on expert guidance for refining research topics, methodologies, and study frameworks. Additionally, 8% of students visited to check their research manuscripts, ensuring quality and compliance with academic standards. Meanwhile, 6% sought statistical consultation, underscoring the need for technical support in data analysis. The remaining includes submission of hardbound, signing of forms, and other research-related administrative tasks.

On August 1, 2024, a successful Brigada Eskwela event was held at Iram II Elementary School in Sitio Mampueng, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the GC Community Extension Services Unit, the Office of Student Welfare and Services, student volunteers, administrative personnel, and faculty members. The initiative involved various activities, including cleaning, repainting, and repairing school
facilities to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for the students. Volunteers worked tirelessly to restore classrooms, organize materials, and contribute their time and effort toward improving the school's infrastructure. This collaboration not only benefited the school but also strengthened the bond between the educational institution and the local community. This year’s Brigada Eskwela was more than just a physical transformation; it was a testament to the power of collective action in supporting education and fostering community involvement.
Project Wharf: Job Fair 2024 has officially concluded with great success, marking a remarkable collaboration between the Alumni Association of CHTM, the Research and Development & Community Extension Services, and the vibrant CHTM student body. On September 21, 2024, the Gordon College Coastal Clean-Up Drive proved that nothing could dampen the spirit of community and environmental responsibility. Despite the rain, volunteers from across various colleges, units, and offices of Gordon College, including students, student organizations, faculty, alumni, and administrative personnel, rallied together for a common cause—protecting our precious coastal ecosystems.
The event, led by our dedicated City Mayor and their team, was a testament to the power of collective action. Volunteers braved the weather to help restore our coastlines, ensuring that future generations will continue to enjoy the beauty and resources our coasts provide. Their efforts went beyond just cleaning up; they reinforced the importance of environmental
stewardship and a united commitment to preserving our natural environment. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who participated in this meaningful initiative. On October 19, 2024, Gordon College-College of Allied Health Studies, in partnership with GCCESU, IMAP, Inc., and PAP, successfully launched PROJECT SANDRA (Sustaining Awareness, Network, and Development for Reproductive and Allied Health Care) at Iram II Elementary School in Sitio Mampweng. The project aimed to enhance health education and awareness among indigenous learners and their communities, with a focus on reproductive health and wellness.
The event featured several key activities aimed at improving the overall health environment in the community. Highlights included the improvement of the school clinic facilities, personal hygiene lectures, and the proper handwashing demonstration. Attendees also participated in fun and educational parlor games, and the distribution of personal hygiene kits and gifts ensured that families felt supported in their health journeys.
On November 15, 2024, the event “Resiliency and Well-being of Indigenous People (Brilliant Minds 2)” was successfully held at Iram II Elementary School, focusing on building mental health resiliency, literacy, and nutritional well-being within Indigenous communities. This initiative, supported by YUGTO 2 from CEAS and the outreach program by the CHTM student council, aimed to address immediate community needs while promoting long-term academic, cultural, and physical growth.
A key highlight of the event was the insightful session led by resource speaker Ms. Erin Riego de Dios, who shared valuable knowledge on mental health and well-being. The program also featured collaborative efforts from student volunteers, faculty, administrative personnel, CESU coordinators, and Iram II Elementary School, all of whom contributed to its success.

On December 17, 2024, “Unity Unbound: Embracing Togetherness and Hope (Altruism 2024)” celebrated the true spirit of the holiday season through meaningful gift-giving, acts of kindness, and a focus on community solidarity. The event brought together individuals of all backgrounds, emphasizing unity and shared hope as essential pillars of community life. It reflected the power of collective action, where people unite to uplift one another and foster a deep sense of connection and togetherness. Held in the Sitio Mampueng community in Old Cabalan, Olongapo City, the event sought to inspire lasting change and support for local residents, especially during the holiday season.
The GC CESU and OSWS organized the initiative, and its success was made possible through the unwavering support of the entire GC community, private individuals, volunteers, and extensionists from various colleges and departments. The gratitude extended to students, student organizations, faculty members, administrative staff, GC alumni, and generous sponsors and contributors served as a testament to the collective commitment and selflessness of all those involved. Empowering Research Community on Research Impact and Publication
Gordon College’s Research Development and Publication Units recently held an enriching online seminar-workshop titled "Maximizing Research Impact: Leveraging Online Repositories, Social Media, Peer-Reviewed Publishing, and Critical Review Skills." The event aimed to enhance the visibility of the college's valuable research, improving opportunities for publication in prestigious journals and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration among research coordinators and faculty members.
The seminar was led by Dr. John Mark R. Asio, the esteemed Research Director, with Ms. Alyssa Suero facilitating the event. The session was further graced by the presence of Dr. Ediric Gadia (VP, RDCES), Prof. Kristin Mendoza (VP, Institutional Planning, Development, and External Affairs), and Ms. Agnes Melo (President, GCFAS). The College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) at Gordon College recently hosted its inaugural CBA: Research Forum, an engaging seminar aimed at enhancing business research knowledge among students. The event, led by the CBA Research and Development Unit (RDU) in collaboration with the Junior People Management Association - Gordon College (JPMAP-GC) and the Gordon College - Junior Marketing Association (GC-JMA), warmly welcomed Mr. Danilo V. Rogayan Jr. as the prized resource speaker.
The program began with the singing of the National Anthem followed by the Olongapo and Gordon College Hymn. OIC Dean Mr. John Diwa delivered the opening remarks, and Ms. Geraldine D. Raydanas introduced Mr. Rogayan. The seminar, held at the GC Function Hall, focused on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in business research. Mr. Rogayan emphasized how AI is making research “easier,” offering valuable insights and opportunities to expand the students' understanding of business research.
The session ended with closing remarks from Ms. Merlin De Gracia, followed by a photo opportunity with the speaker, CBA faculty, and participating students. Additionally, during a lunch meeting with Ms. De Gracia and Dr. Ediric Gadia, Mr. Rogayan discussed potential future research collaborations with the college. This event was a significant milestone in fostering innovation and collaboration within the academic community at Gordon College.
