Dear Members and Community, Our community faces many challenges and, in turn, opportunities. The Y is fortunate to be in a position to be a part of positive change. Indeed, over the Greater Burlington YMCA’s 157-year history, we have adapted many times to support the needs of the community. To identify how we might be able to support these changing needs, this past year the Y engaged in a strategic planning process. While the work of our Y as people know it continues on, our goal was

The social issues we homed in on relate to health, both physical and socialemotional, support for youth during a time of a rising mental health crisis, and finding ways to break down walls for individuals and marginalized communities who increasingly feel isolated.

Utilize the positive perception of our Y brand to serve as a convener and powerful center of community, ensuring that increased outreach to diverse and underserved populations is an integral part of this work. Youth Development Provide premier programs and services that foster the social and emotional capabilities of infants to grade 12 youth with a focus on the expansion of healthy, engaging, and leadership experiences for families and teens. Member Experiences We will implement new and innovative approaches that deliver first-in-class experiences with a focus on programming, customer service, member connectedness, revenue generation, and sustainability. Staff Engagement Become an employer of choice through commitment of time and resources aimed at staff recruitment, training, and succession planning. We will best support those we serve through an engaged and happy workforce. We look forward to bringing ideas, energy, and focus to supporting our community through these strategic imperatives! MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS • Y members receive discounted rates and early registration for Personal Training, Swim Lessons, Health + Safety Classes, Youth Programs, and more. • Modern, bright, and inviting weight, cardio, and fitness space with top-of-the-line equipment. • Variety of group fitness classes offered in three dedicated studios and our program pool — from Aqua Aerobics to Zumba. Fitness classes are included in membership at no extra cost! • Indoor walking track (13 laps = 1 mile). • Light-filled Aquatic Center with a Splash Pad for kids, a co-ed Sauna, and two separate pools — an 82° Lap Pool and an 86° Program Pool. • Mixed-use Gymnasium: Basketball, Volleyball, Pickleball, Family Recreation, etc. • Three locker rooms: A Universal locker room (all gender) with private changing/shower suites, and Men’s and Women’s locker rooms. • Fully ADA compliant space with an elevator and universally accessible design, lift chairs for the pools, and accessible weight and cardio equipment on the Wellness Floor. • Family Memberships include Family Activities: Family Swim, Family Recreation, Member Child Care, and Birthday Parties (additional cost). Family Activites are open to Family Members ONLY (no day passes). • Free access to most Y’s across the country through Y-USA’s Nationwide Membership. • An amazing, diverse, welcoming community!

MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT Membership at the Y is a continuous monthto-month membership. Monthly rates are based upon participation in automatic billing. The cancellation policy requires notification by phone, email, or in-person before the last day of the month in which you would like to cancel the membership. Nurturing the potential of every child and teen EARLY CARE + EDUCATION The Y Early Childhood Programs provide quality education for children ages 8 weeks to 5 years, fostering social, emotional, physical, cognitive, creative, and healthy development through enriching experiences and positive relationships. Our incredible team of licensed early childhood educators support our youngest learners so that they have the best possible start. We follow a play-based, emergent curriculum developed using Vermont Early Learning Standards & NAEYC criteria. Our programs are 5-STAR rated by the State of Vermont and are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the benchmark of high quality care. All programs incorporate health and wellness — including gym class + swim time (BTV program) on-site at our College Street location, ample time outdoors on the playground, and walking excursions.

Y Early Childhood Program at the Pomerleau Family Y in Burlington

For ages 8 weeks to 5 years. Located at 298 College Street. Full day, 7:30am-5:00pm, M - F only. Please note: Due to high demand, and the length of the current list, our waitlist is closed at this time. Please check our website for updates.

Y Early Childhood Program for the University of Vermont Medical Center

Member Child Care

Free to Family Members, Member Child Care provides a nurturing, safe, and fun environment for the children of Y Family Members while they work out or take a class. Registration required.

Family Recreation

The gym is turned into an active indoor ‘playground’ geared toward children ages 7 and younger. Registration required.

We make sure kids are involved, engaged, valued, and cared for in out-of-school hours! For children in K through 6th grade. In various schools in Chittenden, Franklin, and Washington Counties.

The Y offers themed camps at multiple locations during school breaks for kids in K through age12.

Family Swim, Family Recreation, Member Child Care, and Birthday Parties are benefits of — and open to — Greater Burlington YMCA Family Members ONLY. Additionally, members register early and pay discounted prices for programs, and for Vacation and Summer Camps at the Y in Burlington! Each day we set aside several hours for families to enjoy the Splash Pad and recreational swimming in our Program Pool. Registration is required to ensure safety and the best experience for everyone!

We’re rolling out a variety of fun offerings for new and expectant parents. Let’s get together and share the joys and hardships of parenting!

Health + Safety Classes Kids’ Night Out

Parents have an evening to themselves as kids age 3-12 enjoy swimming, pizza, and playing in the gym! Open to all. Registration is required, Members register early. Space is limited. Additional fee.

AQUATICS:

Swim Lessons for ages 6 months to Adult, Lifeguard Training, Dynamo Swim Team, and Aquatic Fitness Classes!

Swimming is a critical life skill for every child, teen, and adult. Y swim lessons focus on personal safety, stroke development, and rescue techniques, and are offered in 6 to 8 week sessions throughout the year. SWIM LESSONS Caregiver/Child Lessons (Ages 6 - 36 mos.)

Use the bond between caregiver and child to create a safe and welcoming environment. Classes focus on comfort, balance, and movement and teach skills such as bubble blowing, kicking, paddling, and jumping.

Preschool Lessons (Ages 3 - 5 years)

Encourage comfort and independence in the water through skills, games, and fun. Children learn safe pool behavior and adjust to the aquatic environment with various, provided flotation aids. Caregivers may support, but are not present in the water.

Youth Swim Lessons (Ages 6-16 years)

School-age swim lessons encourage comfort and independence in the water through skill building, games, and fun. The higher-level classes offer an athletic fitness element. Swimmers age 12 - 16 that have completed Fish level can join Porpoise Club, a non-competive swim club that focuses on stroke development and leadership opportunities.

Adult Small Group Lessons

Beginner or Intermediate Groups enhance comfort levels and technique.

Swim Stroke Refinement

A 45 minute session with a coach using a submersible iPad to provide immediate and detailed stroke feedback.

Youth Private Lessons

Designed to give individualized attention to improve or master swimming skills. Together, the instructor, guardian, and child determine the goals for the session.

Adaptive Lessons

Individual, 30-minute lessons for people with physical or developmental needs. Students work one-on-one with an instructor.

AQUATIC FITNESS CLASSES

DYNAMO SWIM TEAM Dynamo is a fall, winter, spring competitive swim team for youth and teens. We offer clinics during September/October and April/May, and a short course season from October to March. Our team serves swimmers from first-time team members to national competitors.

LIFEGUARD CLASSES Lifeguard Classes use American Red Cross curriculum and provide American Red Cross certification

Lifeguard Training

Learn lifesaving skills to help people stay safe in, on, and around the water. You must be 15 years old by the final day of class to enroll. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive two certifications: Lifeguarding Skills and First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

Lifeguard Re-Certification

Refresh your lifeguarding knowledge and skills, and ensure your certification stays up to date.

Junior Lifeguarding

Learn basic water rescue skills and get CPR certified! Participants must be 11-14 years old and able to pass a deep-end test to enroll. Scan for more info about Swim Lessons, ARC Lifeguard Training, and Dynamo Swim Team.

Class registration is required for Aquatic Fitness classes, and opens 48 hours in advance of class.

Aqua Arthritis Exercise

Join a fun, joint-safe activity that will help decrease pain, stiffness, and improve flexibility, and make an impact on your daily life.

Aqua Zumba

Aqua Zumba® blends the Zumba® philosophy with water resistance for one pool party you shouldn’t miss!

Silver Foxes

Get fit, strong, and energized in the warmth of our Program Pool! Increase your flexibility, improve posture and balance, and make everyday living easier with this safe and effective workout.

Water Aerobics

Exercise your independence during this conditioning and resistance training program. Scan for Aquatics schedule, which includes Aquatic Fitness classes, Adult Swim, Lap Swim, and Family Swim.

WATER SAFETY IS OUR PASSION Throughout the summer, 205 kids from Y outreach and partner organizations participated in Camp Splash free water safety classes. Every child should be safe around water! gbymca.org

Healthy living is all about balance. That’s why we help build and maintain healthy habits for spirit, mind, and body. By helping kids, adults, families, and seniors from all backgrounds improve their health and well-being, we help build a stronger community. We offer a variety of programs and activities to suit every walk of life — every age, every fitness level, every schedule. Check out all our Y has to offer and get on the path to wellness. There’s never been a better time to get started!

HEALTHY LIVING

Improving our community’s health and well-being CARDIO + STRENGTH No matter what type of workout you’re looking for, we’ve got what you need to keep it varied and fun! Top-of-the-line cardio + strength equipment and a variety of free weights and functional training areas — it’s easy to find your strength at the Y.

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES Sometimes it’s the instructor or the person next to you that provides the inspiration you need to be your best. Other times, YOU will be the inspiration. Whether you are looking to sweat, relax, get stronger or relieve stress, we have a class that works for your schedule and fitness level. From Indoor Cycling, to Yoga, to Zumba, all classes are included as a part of your monthly membership fee.

PERSONAL TRAINING Our team of nationally certified personal trainers will help you reach your health and wellness goals, whether that is weight loss, improved posture, or increased strength and stamina. Our trainers will keep you accountable, motivated,

and on track! First time trying Personal Training? Try our Fresh Start package: 3, 45-minute sessions for only $119.

LOW IMPACT + SENIOR CLASSES

Skills and techniques every babysitter should have! For ages 11 to 15.

Have fun with friends—or make some new ones —during Open Recreation, Basketball, Volleyball, or Pickleball times in the Gym!

Y SUMMER CAMPS

We recognize that kids need a safe and stimulating environment during the summer where they can develop skills, have fun, and build positive relationships with peers and adults. All Y staff foster this by providing creative, age-appropriate, and safe activities that promote social, physical, intellectual, and emotional growth — all through recreational play and hands-on activities. Camp Abnaki — registration is OPEN for 2024

Y Adventure Camp at Rock Point

Camp Abnaki provides a traditional overnight summer camp experience. Our technology-free atmosphere fosters social engagement, forges friendships, and builds confidence. Engaged staff provide leadership as they teach sailing, archery, climbing at the high ropes course, and so much more. Nestled on 70 acres in the Champlain Islands, days and nights at camp are filled with community, belonging, and FUN!!

This camp takes place on the beautiful Rock Point property on the shores of Lake Champlain in Burlington. Campers spend most of the day outside, and will have a chance to tend the gardens, use the outdoor pizza oven, swim, kayak, paddleboard, play games, create arts and crafts, do STEM activities, hike, and much more. This is a traditional outdoor camp full of fun and adventure!

Each day at Camp Abnaki offers opportunities for personal growth. Campers build skills while trying a wide offering of team, individual, water, land, and arts-based activities, all while they create memories and make friendships that will last a lifetime. Camp provides opportunities for kids to step out of their comfort zone, be themselves, develop confidence, and be part of a community.

Camp Abnaki is not just for kids, there are also programs for families! Our Labor Day Family Camp and Father/Son weekend provide unique opportunities for family bonding in an incredible natural setting. Summer Camp at the Y in BTV

Have your kids join us in the Member Child Care space at the Y for summer camp. Throughout the week we will engage in lots of fun activities such as: swim in the program pool, create arts and crafts, play in the gym, and explore our local outdoors! And of course, have loads of fun!

Camp Koda

• Co-ed day camp for kids currently who’ve completed grades K - 6 • Registration opens Feb. 5 State licensed summer program located in multiple communities. Each week follows a theme and includes hands-on learning including crafts, physical activities and games, swimming, field trips, science, and enrichments.
