Hello Everyone, When thinking about which charity to support I wanted to choose one that was local to Stockport and reflected an aspect of my life so that I could talk to you all about it with some degree of knowledge and understanding. As I have spent most of my career teaching children with Special Educational Needs, The Seashell Trust seemed the obvious choice, The Seashell Trust is dedicated to providing a creative, happy and safe environment for children and young people with complex learning disabilities and additional communication needs. It consists of The Seashell Royal School in Cheadle Hulme on the site of what used to be known as the Royal School for the Deaf, The Seashell Royal College in Manchester and 17 home from home care houses. Each setting provides a safe, supportive environment for the young people it caters for. We are supporting the Seashell Royal School in Cheadle Hulme and I am hoping to be able to buy some equipment which will help the young people in their daily lives rather than just put the money into the general charity fund. What we can buy of course depends on the amount of money we raise. There are several options and I will of course keep you all informed about what we do purchase. I’m hoping some of the young people will be able to attend some of our Charity events. I have discussed this with their teachers and carers and they will make the final decision as they know the youngsters. Looking forward to seeing you at the Charity events and thank you once again for your support. Elaine
