Youth Ministry would like to introduce our Speaker : Diocesan Bishop Calvin J. Gould Sr. Bishop Calvin J. Gould Sr. is a pastor after God’s own heart. From an early age, God was preparing Bishop Gould for a great work in the ministry. He was born in Omaha, NE, as the seventh child after their family relocated to Omaha from Helena, Arkansas. Bishop Gould married Valerie M. Wilson on December 4, 1976. Through this union, they have four children and seven grandchildren.

Bishop Gould was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost in June of 1975.

Because of his eagerness to serve the Lord, he was blessed to begin using his gifts and talents in numerous auxiliaries of the church. God’s anointing was on Bishop Gould, and he was called into the ministry in 1990 and later ordained in 2003. He served under his pastor, the late Bishop Nelson G. Turner, for nearly forty years.

After the passing of his pastor and wife, the Lord divinely elevated Bishop Gould to pastor of Greater Beth-el Temple. In 2014, he was elevated to District Elder and in 2016 he was elevated to Diocesan Bishop of Minnesota and Illinois.

Bishop Gould has a love for God’s people, which is reflected throughout his ministry. Under his pastoralship, many committees were created to serve the people of God, including the creation of an Advisory Committee, Communications Department, Ushers & Greeters Ministry, Young Men’s Ministry, Sick & Shut-In Ministry, and our Praise Dance Ministry. The Lord also led Bishop Gould to implement a pre-service called Firestarters.

Bishop Gould began an intercessory prayer service that meets weekly to make intercession for the people of God. The anointed power of intercessory prayer has been witnessed through souls coming to God, those healed in the mind and body, and the miracles that God continually performs. An online prayer ministry was also created, receiving prayer requests from people all around the globe. This ministry extends beyond church walls, and this is made possible through our livestreaming where the Word is able to reach people and touch souls all over the world.

Bishop Gould has been a blessing to Greater Beth-el Temple and other pastors and ministries. His vision for the Kingdom of God is to transform the lives of people through desperate, extreme faith in God.

Welcome to the Apostolic Pentecostal Churches Incorporated International Convention Praise The Lord in the Matchless Name of JESUS! I am excited that the Lord has allowed us to gather again in His name, to show forth His praise and talk about the blessings He has bestowed upon us.

The Lord has given me this year’s theme titled “VICTORY through PRAYER and FASTING” taken from Matthew 17:14-21, (key verse 21). When we look at this passage we see the inability of the disciples to cast the devil out of the young boy because of their unbelief. Likewise, we see the same thing happening today among the saints and that is the inability to carry out the things God has assigned us to do. We find ourselves coming up short but God has called us to be victorious. The disciples asked Jesus why they could not cast the devil out of the young boy? Jesus told them it was because of their unbelief. Jesus is telling us the same thing. We can’t do the things saints should be able to do because we don’t believe the way we should.

The answer or solution is Prayer and Fasting. Lets look at each one.

PRAYER is communicating with God. Communication is: the imparting or exchanging of information or news: the successful conveying or sharing of ideas and feelings. When you pray you are sharing your ideas and feelings to God and God is imparting His will and instructions to us.

FASTING is disciplining or bringing our flesh under control so we can hear, obey and carryout the things God imparts and instructs us to do. When we get our flesh under control and become able to say NO to desires and resist our flesh, then we can have victory in the things of God. Saints, it is time that we become victors and put the Devil on the run. As saints we have the power and authority to do so, but we must submit to the leading of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the power of God in us but, the Holy Ghost cannot empower us if we are not communicating with God and if we allow our flesh to dictate our actions. Remember as saints “All Things Become New”. It is a must if we want to be victorious in our walk with the LORD.
