Mindy Widiker
by Sherill Summer WEBSTER - A potentially tragic story had a happy ending last Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Webster 5-12 school, when Mindy Widiker, a health and physical education teacher, saved the life of a fifth-grade student who was choking. Widiker was on lunchroom duty when a student came up to her, telling her that someone was choking. Acting as quickly as possible, Widiker rushed over and performed the Heimlich maneuver on the student, freeing up a piece of cheese that was lodged in his throat. “It just happened so fast,” Widiker commented. “I really didn’t have time to think. Thankfully it turned out in a positive way.”
