Gaynor O’Flynn’s self-penned, immersive solo work, ‘Everyone’s Mother’ has been selected for the prestigious John Thaw Initiative, 2019.

The John That Initiative offers a platform for artists to take creative risks and achieve vital feedback with work still in development.

The work will be performed at The Actor’s Centre, Soho at 8pm on 18, 19 & 20 November 2019 as part of the Motherhood season.

Tickets £7 / £5 conc’s available here: www.lineupnow.com/event/everyones-mother ‘Everyone’s Mother’ is an intensely personal, solo theatre work, that uses story, song and humour to explore the interconnected lives of a group of ‘Mothers’. The main character is a woman who was adopted at birth and now finds herself fostering a young girl from Nepal.

‘Everyone’s Mother’ explores ‘Motherhood’ in all its complexity, possibility and impossibility and creates a challenging yet loving, touching and unique story that goes beyond culture, beyond belief, beyond time.

The work is directed by Colin Watkeys, Founder of The Solo Theatre Festival who, for over 20 years directed the late great Ken Campbell. Whom the Guardian called ‘A one man dynamo of British Theatre’.

We invite theatre, TV, media and film professionals to attend the work on 18, 19 & 20 November at The John Thaw Studio to get a unique chance to contribute to this work in progress in a post show Q & A, where Gaynor will answer any questions in character.

Artist Gaynor O’Flynn works across disciplines: using performance, voice, song, music, dramaturgy, movement, film, text, image, technology & light to create her unique work. The BBC called her, “That conscious, cathartic voice” BBC and LeCool London, “Hugely enlightening”. She is founder of beinghuman and has worked with Bjork, The Dalai Lama and PJ Harvey amongst many others. ‘Everyone’s Mother’ is her first solo theatre work.

For over 20 years Colin Watkeys directed the late, great Ken Campbell, “a one-man dynamo of British theatre” The Guardian. He founded the Solo Theatre Festival and has worked everywhere from The Royal Court to Edinburgh Festival.

Producer Zoe Bastin works in Sound Production, PR and Event Management. Past clients include, Elphin events, The Great Escape and Larmar Tree Festival amongst others.

A published writer and poet with work published by Harana Poetry, Moonchild Magazine, Burning House Press, and more.

Laura is also experienced in marketing and event management for the Stoke Newington Literary Festival.

Nick Rothwell is a composer, performer, software architect, programmer and sound artist. He has built interactive installations for Sonic Arts Network and the Kinetica kinetic art fair. As a collaborator with body>data>space he has developed performance systems for projects at CIANT in Prague and London. He has recently worked on choreographic visualisation tools for Wayne McGregor|Random Dance at Sadler’s Wells.

A designer with a passion for the creative industry and events, Her design work is across the disciplines of graphic design, interiors and architecture. She is also experienced in event management at The British Musem.

Established in 1978, The Actors Centre supports actors through workshops and masterclasses led by distinguished practitioners from the worlds of theatre, film and television. The Actors Centre provides space for actors to network, share and create.

The John Thaw Initiative offers a platform for artists to take creative risks and achieve vital feedback with work still in development, without any financial pressure. The 2019 season runs at the actors centre through November and December and the theme is, ‘Motherhood’.
