New places open, and some older, more established places change ownership, management or location. The range of live local & international entertainment, day and night activities, dining places and gay lodgings have grown each year. From simple to luxurious, elaborated and personalized services, PV has you covered.

Please be sure never to carry drugs with you on the street. The consequences are severe, and the police are most vigilant at night. Also, the age of consent is 18 years old. Be sure to check their ID before inviting someone back to your room. Don´t accept a lame story. Check the ID. If you are a solo traveler, don’t roam the streets wasted, take a cab to your hotel/AirB&B/ condo/ETC. Pesos is the preferred currency, but other currencies are also welcome in some locations. Mark Page is sometimes referred to as the founder of Gay Guide Vallarta. But it existed when he arrived on the scene in Puerto Vallarta in 1996. He’d planned on sailing the world but in Vallarta he found love.

His partner Carlos and he turned their beautiful sailboat Rainbow Dancer into a charter cruise boat. I remember the delight of my friends when he sailed us across the bay to Paco’s Paradise. The two made a living happily sailing about Banderas Bay with the wind and the dolphins with whom to play. After Carlos’s death, Mark retreated into an online world. One might say he was a bit of a hermit, a recluse on the hill; at times he could be a curmudgeon but he was also a man with a heart of gold. He cared about the world. He cared about Puerto Vallarta. He cared about the sensitivities of the locals and the realities of visitors. For years PV was known in the travel agent word as the most returned-to holiday spot in the Americas.

Like many he came and stayed. Only later in early 2000 did he resuscitate the guide. He brought Gay Guide Vallarta into the 21st-century introducing it as a website and images of happenings around town as well as the print edition: he developed a small team with whom to work. His laughter, though not all that common, lifted the spirits of everyone in the room. He was adamant about serving tourist needs, guiding them around and about PV: letting them know options for food, for night life, for adventure.

He was keen on providing a clean, dependable, understated and fair publication. Mark succumbed to cancer in 2019 at the age of 62. His spirit lives on in the pages of Gay Guide Vallarta and the current hosts 43 Isaac and Joey.

A veces se hace referencia a Mark Page como el fundador de Gay Guide Vallarta. Pero existía cuando llegó a Puerto Vallarta en 1996. Había planeado navegar por el mundo pero en Vallarta encontró el amor. Su novio Carlos y él convirtieron su precioso velero Rainbow Dancer en un barco de crucero de alquiler. Recuerdo la alegría de mis amigos cuando nos llevó a través de la bahía hasta el Paraíso de Paco. Los dos se ganaban la vida de manera feliz navegando por la Bahía de Banderas con el viento y los delfines con quienes jugar.

Después de la muerte de Carlos, Mark se retiró a un mundo en línea. Se podría decir que era un poco ermitaño, un recluso en la colina; A veces podía ser un cascarrabias pero también era un hombre con un corazón de oro.

Le importaba el mundo. A él le importaba profundamente Puerto Vallarta. Se preocupaba por las sensibilidades de la gente local tanto que las realidades de los visitantes. Durante años, PV fue conocida en el mundo de las agencias de viajes como el lugar en América donde los vacacionistas regresan. Como muchos, vino y se quedó. Sólo más tarde, a principios de 2000, resucitó al guía. Llevó a Gay Guide Vallarta al siglo XXI presentándolo como un sitio web e imágenes de los acontecimientos de la ciudad, así como la edición impresa: desarrolló un pequeño equipo con quien trabajar. Su risa, aunque no tan común, levantó el ánimo de todos en la sala. Se mantuvo firme en atender las necesidades de los turistas, guiándolos alrededor de PV: haciéndoles conocer opciones de comida, vida nocturna y aventuras.

Estaba interesado en ofrecer una publicación limpia, confiable, sencilla y justa. Mark sucumbió al cáncer en 2019 a la edad de 62 años. Su espíritu sigue vivo en las páginas de Gay Guide Vallarta y en los animadores actuales Isaac y Joey.

birdbraham@gmail.com Un beso inició la cadena de reacciones que lograron separarlas, cada día después de la escuela se escondían en una casa abandonada y tomadas de la mano pasaban horas viéndose a los ojos, casi sin creer que vivir ese amor tan intenso era posible, pero aquel día en los baños de la preparatoria la necesidad de sentirse cerca dio paso a lo que dos personas que se aman deberían tener derecho universal, aunque en aquellos años en el remoto pueblo donde ocurrió nadie lo hubiese comprendido. Cuando las familias fueron notificadas de la relación prohibida que tenían sus hijas las obligaron a tomar caminos distintos, había sido solo un beso, sin embargo, veinte años después me encuentro con una mujer en medio de un desolado pueblo, que junto a mí triste recuerda a la chica de sus sueños, que hoy tiene esposo e hijos. Ya no hablan, pero por las noches un agujero les atraviesa el pecho, algo falta, quizá otro beso más.

A kiss started the chain of reactions that managed to separate them. Every day after school they hid inside an abandoned house and holding hands, they spent hours looking into each other's eyes, almost unable to believe that experiencing such intense love was possible, but that day in the high school bathrooms the need to feel her gave way to what two people who love each other should have universal right, although in those years in the remote town where it happened no one would have understood it. When the families were notified of the forbidden relationship their daughters were having, they forced them to take different paths, it was just a kiss, however, twenty years later I find myself talking to a woman in the middle of a desolated town, who sadly reminds me of the girl of her dreams, as today she has a husband and children. They don't talk anymore, but at night they feel an empty space in their chest, something is missing, maybe another kiss.

Puerto Vallarta tiene muchos taxis asignados a diferentes zonas. Los precios son razonables y no son por persona. Antes de ingresar al taxi pregunta por el precio a tu destino. Uber está en funcionamiento en el área de Vallarta, aunque es nuevo y algunos viajes pueden ser molestados por los taxis.

Taxis Acuáticos Taxis Acuáticos con destino a Yelapa, Las Animas, y Quimixto salen varias veces al día del muelle Los Muertos iniciando de 11am hasta 5pm.

Boleto redondo a Yelapa (el punto mas lejano tomando 45mnts ida y vuelta) tiene un costo de $450 pesos p/p.

Por lo regular, el ultimo taxi de regreso sale a las 4:00pm, pero confirma con el capitán del taxi.

Otros taxis acuáticos salen de Boca de Tomatlán a 30 minutos sur de la ciudad en camión. Esto puede ser una mejor opción si es que quieres mas flexibilidad en tiempo de de partida y retorno de playas sureñas. Generalmente salen a la hora con destino hacia las playas sureñas, o más frecuente si es que hay tráfico. Precios varían.

Transportación

Water taxis to Yelapa, Las Animas, and Quimixto leave multiple times daily starting at 11am and continuing until 5pm from the pier at Los Muertos Beach.

A round-trip ticket to Yelapa (the farthest point, which takes about 45 min. each way) costs $450 pesos. The latest return time is usually 4:00pm, but confirm the pickup time with your water taxi captain.

Other water taxis to Yelapa depart from Boca de Tomatlán, about 30 minutes south of town, by public bus. These can be a better option if you want more flexible departure and return times from the southern beaches. Generally, they leave on the hour for the south shore destinations or more frequently if there is traffic. Prices vary.
