WINTER 2018

Gatewood Giving Gatewood families are tremendously generous. We took in $362,257.73 in donations last calendar year! This is astounding! $151,569 of this was earmarked by the donors for renovating the stadium. We also received $100,000 for a scholarship endowment! Our Annual Fund, which is a budgeted fundraising priority, is at 63% (or $110,688), yet only 26% of our current parents have donated. These numbers do not include our upgraded computer lab, bookcases, microscopes, roof repair, and a drainage fix. Participation is the cornerstone of ANY effort: in the classroom, on the playing field, or on a stage. There is no more powerful team than school and parents working together for the good of children. Please go online and make a donation today!

Go to Gatewood’s website, find the Development Link, and Annual Fund is on the drop down menu. Drop off, or mail a check. Your donation ensures your part in the school’s legacy.

Snapshot of our 2018 Senior Class 64% participate in a Dual Enrollment Program to earn college credits.

89% of the class members are HOPE eligible.

Average SAT score is 1119, with a high of 1440.

Average ACT score is 22.5, with a high of 34.

10% receive academic support.

15% receive financial assistance.

62% are members of community service organizations.

92% participate in one or more athletic programs.

90% have already been accepted by a college.

Alumni spotlight

Josh Dugan (2013) and Abby Ringer (2013) Josh Dugan will graduate from the US Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree, business management major. While at the academy he learned how to fly gliders, small aircraft, and skydive.

He received his job posting in October 2017: Remotely Piloted Aircraft (“RPA”), Pilot, to be stationed at Randolph Air Base in San Antonio, Texas. The graduation ceremony is May 23, 2018, at which he will be commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the US Air Force, and then he and Abby will get married on the 2nd of June.

Abby Ringer was a Gatewood Gator state champion in basketball and track. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in June 2017.

She specializes in special education birth through kindergarten, and currently teaches at Eatonton’s First United Methodist Preschool.

New Science Fiction Elective is blasting students into a new literary realm!
