'15-'16 School Year Brings Three State Championships Shooting Team Claims State Title Second Year in a Row Congratulations to the 2015 Shooting Sports State Champions. The Gators defended their title for the second year in a row, surpassing last year's winning score. Go Gators!

Boys' & Girls' Basketball Dominate State Championship Rarely does a school win two high school basketball championships in a single year, but on March 5th, Gatewood did just that! We are so proud of our two teams, coaches, student section, and the massive turnout and support of parents, other family members, alumni and the community at large.

Anniversary Party

The Gatewood Alumni and Family gathered to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the school this past April. The theme, "Come As You Were," was a hit.

Partygoers dressed in their high school duds for the festive occasion. The decorations centered around school memorabilia with highlights of yearbook pictures from years past. Founders, Walter Rocker and Tom Thompson, regaled the audience with stories of the school's beginning. After the barbeque dinner, the room turned into a dance floor with hits from all the decades. The evening was filled with memories as we look forward to the 50th in just five short years!

Dear Gatewood Family: Thank you for participating in our annual fund and the many other initiatives that make a private school education affordable and possible for so many each and every year. As a Gatewood graduate and now headmaster, I often reflect upon the many accomplishments of our school and its graduates over 46 years. There are many of you that I have not met, but I do know that collectively our graduates have been successful in nearly every career field you can imagine. The careers of many have carried them globally, while there are still a number of us who have remained in the Lake Country area. Many children and grandchildren of graduates are currently enrolled at our school, following the formative path that has proven so valuable to their parents and grandparents. Gatewood continues to provide the firm foundation upon which the lives of children will be built according to God’s plan.

As a student, Gatewood is a special place to grow and learn. Whether monetary or volunteer time, your contributions are what separates Gatewood from other institutions. Accordingly, we are without peer when considering the offerings we are able to provide to students attending a school of our size. Thank you again for supporting our school in so many ways. We appreciate your continued prayers and support in the coming school year. You make Gatewood great!

Gators at a Glance 5th grade students had fun learning about marine life on their field trip to the Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island.

Gatewood Schools Phoenix Chapter of the National Honor society welcomed 17 new members, bringing total member count to 25.

1st graders shared their knowledge of anatomy in their fun and educational performance of "Dem Bones."

Seniors accepted gifts of literature donated to us by Putnam County author, Alice Walker.

Students happily particpated in the American Red Cross Blood Drive.

Gatewood welcomed Governor Deal's wife, Mrs. Sandra Deal, who shared her favorite children's books and authors with our kindergartners.

In March, 8th graders competed in the National History Day competition at Georgia College.

Students enjoyed dressing up in fun, creative costumes during Homecoming week.

Many came to participate in the annual 5k for Kaye, to remember the life and legacy of Kaye Cheshire.

To kick off their unit on life cycles, Gatewood 2nd graders visited the "Butterflies in the Briarpatch" garden.

All 22 of Gatewood's senior girls were on the 2015 Homecoming Court. Congratulations to Jessica Pierson, Homecoming Queen.

Thank you to all who participated in the purchase of a new vehicle for Coach Douglas. This man has lived and breathed Gatewood Schools for 26 years and is deserving of far more than we can provide to him in thanks.

Congratulations to Coach Douglas for another fantastic school year in sports, and best wishes in the coming year!

The 2016 Lake Oconee Food and Wine Festival was a huge success, with over 1,000 attendees from 14 different states.

Gatewood's Largest Fundraiser provides financial aid for deserving families. Gatewood School will receive over $160K from the proceeds. As the chair of the 2016 Festival, I would like to thank the Committee and the Lake Oconee Food and Wine Board members for their tireless dedication and hard work. We would also like to thank members of the Gatewood family who gave of their time, donated items, sponsored the event or purchased a ticket to attend. Dear Gatewood friends, My name is Kelsey Hood, and I am thrilled to have joined the Gatewood Community as Director of Development. I recently graduated from Georgia College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Managment and Marketing. During the past year I interned with the Lake Oconee Food and Wine Festival, where I had the wonderful opportunity to meet some of you.

As a former student of private school, I understand the significant value found in a private school eductation. In the short time I have worked at Gatewood, I have been amazed by the involvement and support of parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends. As your Director of Development, I will strive to continue Gatewood's legacy of giving, so we can continue to meet the needs of this generation of students as well as the generations to come. I feel so blessed to be a part of the Gatewood Community, and I look foward to meeting you all during the upcoming year!
