AIR Ryanair, (0871 246 0000; www.ryanair.com) flies to Jerez from Stansted. Monarch (08700 405040; www.flymonarch.com) will fly to Jerez from Manchester from March 2007.
Restaurant Gaitan (00 34 956 168021) is an award-winning restaurant, owned by Juan Hurtado for the past 40 years, and is renowned for its unique dishes of Jerez, Andalucian and Basque cuisine, as well as stocking the many sherry wines and brandies of Jerez. Restaurante La Tasca (00 34 956 310340) is a typical Andalucian restaurant offering fresh local produce and many specialities, such as the marine casseroles. Restaurante El Patio (00 34 956 340736) is set within an old, refurbished sherry warehouse. The dishes reflect local cuisine and there is a cosy ambience.
GETTING THERE The roads in and around Jerez are well maintained and provide easy access to some of the nearby cities, such as Seville. A new highway has also been built that connects Jerez directly with the Costa del Sol. The N IV motorway will take you to Puerto de Santa María, which offers some of the best seafood in Spain.

is the perfect location for a holiday. A double room costs from €130 to €150 per night (£87-£101). Hotel Sherry Park (www.hipotels.com) is a four-star hotel situated in the heart of Jerez de la Frontera, not far from the Equestrian School, with double rooms starting from €110 (£74). Hotel Casa Grande (www.casagrande.com.es) is a three-star hotel offering nine double rooms, four single rooms and two junior suites. Doubles start from €85 (£57).
