elcome to the 2017 Bay Building Industries Association (BBIA) Great American Parade of Homes. This is our 38th year to bring this banner event to Bay County.

elcome to the 38th Annual Great American Parade of Homes presented by the Bay Building Industries Association – BBIA.

I want to thank all the sponsors, participants, donors, and BBIA members who have worked so hard to make this a fantastic Parade of Homes. Every Mother’s Day and the week following, the builder members of the BBIA open these homes for your viewing pleasure. This year’s Parade will have 25 unique and innovative homes built by 14 builders, plus 1 featured subdivision open for you to tour and admire. These homes will exhibit the quality and professionalism of your BBIA Builders and range from 1300 to over 4200 square feet. There are homes on display for the first time home buyer, someone looking for a luxury upgrade, and everything in between. In addition, the BBIA is proud to be including a home built by Habitat for Humanity in this year’s Parade.

The Parade is exclusive to BBIA builder members. This year, we have 25 homes by 14 professional builders. To start off the parade route, once again this year, will be the BBIA Showcase Scholarship Home. All the homes in the Parade offer the newest and most innovative products in energy efficiencies and technologies, showcasing unique and up-to-date features now trending in the construction industry. The Great American Parade of Homes serves as the leading resource for consumers shopping for a new home and/or ideas for renovation of an existing home. The Parade provides reliable sources when looking for a builder or associate. When touring the homes in the Parade, patrons have the opportunity to visit with professional builders and industry associates that are experienced representatives of the building industry.

Once again, home #1 on the parade route will be the BBIA Scholarship home. The home located at 1638 White Western Lake Lane in Pinebrook Subdivision is being built by BBIA members under the leadership of Garrett Anderson, President of Anderson Construction of N. FL and BBIA Vice President.

We are elated to announce the #1 Entry on the Parade route is the BBIA Showcase Scholarship Home. The home is a consummation of the experienced BBIA Builders and Associates. Their innovative ideas and hard work have made this home possible. Because of the generosity of our talented membership providing skilled labor, discounted materials, and donations, our goal is to set aside up to $10,000 from the sale of the proceeds of the Scholarship Home to award scholarships to students pursuing a career in the construction industry field.

The home is being built to raise monies for our scholarship program. Our goal is to raise $10,000 from the sale of the home to award scholarships to deserving students who are planning to continue their education at a technical school or accredited college.

2017 SCHOLARSHIP INFO

ay Building Industries Association – BBIA continues to make great strides in the construction industry field.

BBIA is once again building a scholarship home that will be entry #1 in the 2017 Great American Parade of Homes that kicks off on Mother’s Day, May 14th and runs through May 21st.

Up to $10,000 of the proceeds from the sale of the scholarship home will be awarded to students wishing to further their education in the construction industry. Last summer, BBIA awarded a total of $4,000 in scholarships to 8 deserving students ($500 per student) to further their education. In addition, BBIA has an endowed scholarship at Gulf Coast State College and has awarded many scholarships to students throughout the years. BBIA was instrumental in setting up The Construction Academy at Rutherford High School, one of our local high schools. We worked tirelessly with Bay County Superintendent of Schools, Rutherford High School Principal, Haney Technical School Director and Assistant Director, the Instructor, several local contractors and our membership to set up the academy. The very first class began in January 2016 and we are pleased to announce the addition of a second class for 2017. BBIA members mentor students in the classroom, as well as on various jobsites. Six students from the inaugural class were placed in summer jobs last year. The Construction Academy, our Endowed Scholarship, and our pledge to award scholarships to students furthering a career in the construction industry field show our commitment to giving back to the community while supporting our industry.

In 2013 we changed our name to better represent the association and its members. We are known today as the Bay Building Industries Association - BBIA. The BBIA is comprised of many hardworking, local and corporate members representing the construction industry. We empower our members through networking, information, political action and various services while promoting an environment that supports the construction industry and the concepts of home ownership for all desiring to be a part of the Great American Dream.

Throughout the year we hold numerous events, including monthly Lunch & Learn Membership Meetings featuring a vast selection of keynote speakers that are informative, innovative, and knowledgeable, the Great American Home and Garden Expo where our members display their businesses to the public, the Great American Parade of Homes annual event that kicks off on Mother's Day showcasing our builder’s homes, our annual Charter Fishing Trip, and our annual Golf Tournament! All of these events offer a variety of opportunities for our members to interact and network with other members, as well as local consumers to help grow their business! A portion of the proceeds from many of our events benefit our scholarship program enabling us to give back to the community in the form of scholarships to young adults pursuing a career in the construction industry. BBIA also makes contributions to the American Red Cross and the Salvage Santa Program. Likewise, many of our BBIA members participate in the Habitat for Humanity Program and other charitable organizations throughout our community.
