apparel Project: Graduate Collection 2020

Developed in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, this project is influenced by the working from home trend. I wanted to create something meaningful that would reflect the current macro trends. This collection consists of 5 looks created from home for the home. Essential loungewear garments have been re-imagined with practicality in mind so that they can also transition to the outdoors. This collection has been crafted for men that want to be comfortable on vacation. It is a minimalist take on the retro resort style. The colors are transeasonal and are flatering to all skin tones; the prints, based on my own watercolor sketches, are inspired by the tropical beauty of my island.

styling creative direction and photoshoots

Ever since I was a child, I always liked taking photos and creating nice visuals. I started taking photos of my friends for fun and then later when i joined fashion school I was able to collaborate with real models. Growing up in the era of the internet and social media, I am aware of the powerful impact that content can have. I do not own the best photography gear or consider myself as a ph photographer but I really enjoy creating stories through the lens. For me, the most interesting part of fashion design is seing your clothes come to life. All the photos in this section were photographed and styled by myself. I hope you’ll like them!

Graduate collection shoot concept: Street-style images during fashion weeks have always been a great source of inspiration for me. For this particular project, the concept was to replicate paparazzi shots to showcase my designs. Shot during the covid-19 pandemic in South Africa with respect towards the safety protocols. For this reason I was unable to do any group photos. Models were shot in di erent slots while adhering to social distancing. Special thanks to my amazing models Nic, Dino and Gian.
