RECOGNISING THEBEST

Suppliers and distributors were given their just desserts at the most recent industry awards celebration

The PAGE group hosted its annual conference, exhibition and awards dinner at theDelta WarwickHotel on 15 June.

During thetabletop exhibition in theafternoon morethan50suppliers took full advantage, networkingwith PAGE members. The exhibition had to be brought to an end at 17:30 so that theroom could be transformed to the dining room.

Remembering George

Duetothe sad passing of industryicon George Hayward, theawardsdinnertook on amorecommemorative tone this year.Beforedinner,his sonBrian said a fewheartfelt sentiments and recollections about George to astanding ovation. These thoughts were laterechoed by LSi distributor Lloyd Simpson, who spoke fondly of George and remarkedonhow he shall be missed. Achampagne toast was raised in George’s name.

All theawardspresented at the conference recognise an exemplar level of quality, service, and efficiencyfromboth distributors and suppliers.

Industryrecognition

Scores forsupplier service and efficiency aretaken from thePAGEmembers’ monthly and annual surveys to determine thewinners. The winners of thesilver awards were:Preseli, The Umbrella Companyand Laltex. The winner forthe thirdyear in arow of theGoldSupplier of theYearAward wasWCM+A Ltd.

The winners of thedistributors silver awards were:BH1,Navillusand Allwag and thewinners of thegoldawardswere: Boosters, Steel Cityand LSi.

After theawardsweregiven out, guests enjoyedahumorous performance from local comedian Matt Bragg, whichbrought some light-hearted jest to theevening, followedbythe musical talents of The Haze Band who were very well received by all and ended thenight on ahigh.

Networking continued in thebar intothe smallhours.
