DESIGN INTENT
HOUSE/SHELTER/DWELLING IS ONE OF THE BASIC AND A PRIMARY HUMAN NEED. IT IS ONE OF THE OLDEST AND THE MOST FAMILIAR TYPOLOGY IN ARCHITECTURE, YET IT STILL REMAINS ONE OF THE MOST COMPLICATED CHALLENGES FOR ARCHITECTS.
HOUSING HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN INTRINSIC PART OF AN EVER EVOLVING URBAN STRUCTURE. HOUSING NEEDS OR REQUIREMENTS HAVE TYPICALLY GROWN OUT OF THE PREVAILING SOCIAL, POLITICAL, ECONOMIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES OR ENVIRONMENTS. CURRENTLY, CITIES ARE EVOLVING AT AN UNPRECEDENTED PACE. THIS RAPID URBAN GROWTH, COMBINED WITH A TECH - DRIVEN, FAST AND SERVICE - INTENSIVE LIFESTYLE, HAS LED US TO LOOK AND EXPLORE VARIOUS FRONTS; AND ADDRESS THE ISSUES OF AFFORDANCE AND RESILIENCE OF HOUSING PATTERNS WITHIN CITIES.
THE AIM OF THE PROJECT IS TO QUESTION THE EXISTING CONDITIONS OF LIVING AND CREATE A NEW ARCHITECTURAL MODEL FOR HOUSING WHICH ARE SMALL BUT LIVEABLE GIVEN THE CURRENT ENVIRONMENT, WHICH ARE SOCIALLY EQUITABLE, WHICH ARE FOR THE NEW GENERATION AND WHICH CAN ADAPT FOR THE FUTURE GENERATIONS AND CONTINUE TO REMAIN RELEVANT TO THE OCCUPANTS & THE CITY AT LARGE.

DESIGN INTENT
MODERN ARCHITECTURE HAS INTRODUCED TO THE TERM “SERVED AND SERVANT SPACES”. THOUGH THIS TERM SEEMS LIKE DISCRIMINATION AND HAS AN UNDERLYING TONE OF CLASS DISTINCTION IN IT. NEVERTHELESS IT NEEDS TO BE VIEWED FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF ITS APPLICATION IN ARCHITECTURE. THROUGH THE YEARS, MANY SYSTEMS OF PLACING THE SERVICES HAVE DEVELOPED.
THE DECISION TO USE THE CORRECT SYSTEM LIES ON MANY FACTORS AND ON WHAT IS THE PRIORITY FOR THE PROJECT, THE DEMAND OF THE SITE, AND THE CONCEPT DEVELOPED.
A HOTEL, THESE DAYS IS NOT JUST A PLACE FOR ACCOMMODATION DURING TRANSIT BUT ALSO A PLACE FOR GAINING AN EXPERIENCE THAT WILL LEAVE LASTING IMPRESSION ON THE USER/ GUESTS. A WELL INFORMED HOTEL GUEST, WHETHER OUT ON A VACATION OR A HI FLYING CORPORATE ON THE GO OR A WEDDING GUEST, WANTS TO BE FELT SPECIAL AND ROYAL EVEN IF IT IS ONLY FOR A FEW DAYS OR A FEW HOURS.

Like any other market, the hustle-bustle at Shivaji market starts early in the morning at around 6:00 AM Vendors take their respective places and clean their own areas to start the sale. First, the loading and unloading of the fruits, vegetables and meat take place on the main street itself, which causes traffic. Then, the required material is taken by vendors to their stalls and set up on their platforms. The fruit sellers sit on the periphery of the market which has temporary shading to protect the stalls from various weather conditions. Here, as there is no definite boundary to the stalls, they keep on increasing as the amount of saleable item increase. This is causing a reduction in the passage area of circulation. Vegetables and fish markets are situated in the central portion of the structure. Here, the drains and electrical services are exposed due to which visitors are seen walking cautiously on the floor. The market is seen crowded on the weekdays also. Especially in the festive season. A lot of people from abroad do visit here as this market makes imported fruits and vegetables available to them. A large number of cats and dogs are found here inside the market. The eagles flying above the beef market are also seen in the daytime.

The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) which is a readying itself for the 200 years of its existence is home to Headquarters , Southern Command, the largest command of the Indian Army and the seat of military power in the country. Since its formation in 1817, the cantonment area has registered an impressive growth, is a true representative of the cosmopolitan ethos of Pune City

Melghat in maharashtra state is recognised for malnutrition. Melghat, situated in Amravati district of maharashtra, India is a tribal region with amongst the highest numbers of malnutrition cases. Several children perish due to malnutrition in this region. Malnutrition, in all its forms, represents a significant barrier to equitable and sustainable social and economic development.
We observed the negligence towards malnourished kids and the lack of awareness about how and why the children are affected by the disease. Thus, to increase the awareness of the locals and improve the condition of malnutrition; we came up with a simple and easy solution.
The stakeholders to the project are the pregnant omen and the foetus they are carrying. We propose to build an installation which will help the women in better understanding of the disease, its causes and type of health care they are supposed to take while they are pregnant so that the born baby is a healthy child and does not face the threat of health issues like malnutrition.
Looking at the context in which the settlement is located, one can see a lot of barren land along with many farmlands due to a lack of knowledge and techniques, the people of the village are unable to grow food with nutritional value hence problems like malnutrition and premature deaths of a foetus can be seen for the installation to be easily accessible and available, we propose to keep it in the area of barren lands, which stand between the farmlands and houses of the settlement.
THE FORM DEVELOPMENT STARTED WITH BASIC DESIGN PRINCIPLES; BALANCE AND SYMMETRY. TO KEEP THE INSTALLATION BALANCE WAS THE MAJOR INTENT WHILE DESIGNING.
THE GEOMETRY IN THE PLAN WAS TRIED WITH SOME OTHER ALTERNATIVES LIKE INTRODUCING CROSS WALL AND PROVIDING THE WALLS WITH CUT OUTS, ALLOWING PLAY OF LIGHT.
EASY ENTRY AND EXIT AND SPACIOUS INSTALLATION WAS THE BETTER WAY TO MAKE IT EASILY ACCESSABLE TO ALL. SO WE TRIED TO MAKE SURE THE DESIGN IS WELCOMING TO EVERYONE FROM KIDS TO PREGNANT WOMEN.

IMPACT OF THE PROJECT-
The project intends to make an impact on society by spreading awareness about the disease and help the people afflicted with it to understand do’s and don’ts for the disease the installation will also help understand the precautions and remedies with help of graphics and hoardings. The installation will help people get aware of the root cause of malnutrition and remove it to the maximum capacity by doing so, we can reduce the rate of malnutrition thus, making a powerful and positive impact altogether!
The installation is lightweight, making it easily moveable and portable.
The project will enhance and enable one to one interaction with pregnant women to help them understand the importance of precautionsand awareness about malnutrition. Thus, in this way the stakeholders will be engaged in the process at first, and others will acknowledge the project and eagerly join in the cause of reducing the malnutrition. Hence enhancing the development rate of our Nation!
