PATS Sandown gets set for a memorable show New for 2019, PATS Sandown has moved to a Sunday and Monday, bringing it in line with PATS Telford, and creating the perfect opportunity for retailers to browse all the exciting new products without impacting on valuable sales time back at home. The change to a February date also means the show is the first-stop for everything new in 2019, offering the chance to stock up well before the retail shows get going in the spring. As ever there are all the usual benefits of a top PATS show to look forward to. With more than 150 exhibitors, and the ever-amazing New Product Showcase, there will be no shortage of stands and pet products to examine. Retailers and buyers attending the 11th PATS exhibition to be staged at the Sandown Park Exhibition Centre in Esher, Surrey, on Sunday, February 10th, and Monday, February 11th, can

expect a warm welcome from exhibitors eager to showcase their products. As well as meeting up with a long list of PATS regulars, visitors will be greeted by a host of new faces and new products. A large number of companies are choosing to exhibit at Sandown for the first time as they see PATS as the perfect opportunity to announce their plans for the year ahead. Buyers from specialist outlets and garden centres will find the widest range of products being showcased anywhere in the UK. The New Product Showcase, sponsored by pbwnews, is a

great way for visitors to see and touch the new products they will be stocking. In previous years more than 200 new items have been entered into the Showcase so it is the best place to view potential bestsellers. All items entered by manufacturers will be put forward for the New Products Awards judged by a panel of pet retailers. “Visitors to the show can be assured they will see and speak to the leading names in the industry, and early indications point towards lots of new products being launched at the show,” said organiser Gordon Thomas. As well as the new product launches, there will be a freeto-attend series of seminars covering topics aimed at giving retailers information and advice they can take back to their businesses. Some of the industry’s leading personalities have been lined up to deliver talks this year.

New top choice for mini dogs Leading German pet food company Josera has researched the needs of mini canine fusspots and has developed the Mini range which is designed to be irresistible to even the hardest to please little hound. Small dogs can be fussy about food. Almost every owner of a small breed knows the sniff and walk away scenario. It is stressful for the owner – and ultimately not good for the dog. Now available to the pet trade in the UK, Josera foods are made in the company’s carbonneutral factory where quality control of ingredients and manufacturing processes are stringent. “Because Josera makes all 16 February 2019

Lintbells Mobility Matters support materials Lintbells will showcase its Mobility Matters campaign at PATS Sandown on stand K13. Data from the Royal Veterinary College suggests that 15 percent of all cases presented at vet practices have musculoskeletal problems and joint stiffness is very common, especially in older dogs. The ‘Gold Standard’ for many of these pets is to take a multimodal approach, using many different techniques to help them maintain or regain mobility and live a happier life. The Mobility Matters support material is available to retailers free of charge and supports outlets to offer a value-added service to people who own dogs with stiff joints or reduced mobility. The pack includes
materials that help pet owners better understand their pet’s joint health and materials for retailers to signpost the support they can offer. Gemma Cunningham, YuMOVE Brand Manager says
there is a lot that retailers can do to help these pets. “We wanted to ensure that retailers were given the tools that would help them make effective recommendations and to improve welfare.”

EXHIBITOR NEWS
new exhibitors Vitacress (stand R9) “We are a herb supplier for supermarkets and grow all the herbs you’d expect to see in your kitchen. Following a trip of one of our colleagues to Canada (where the idea stemmed from), we have been working on developing a range of fresh pet products focusing on cat grass in particular. We realise there are ‘grow on at home’ varieties on the market, but we are yet to see fresh, live products, which is where we specialise as a business. We have been trialling this in a garden centre with a dedicated pet department with good results but would like to see if there is further traction in the pet market for fresh products such as this.”
Yora (stand G7) “We can’t wait to exhibit our trailblazing new pet food Yora at PATS Sandown, the UK’s leading pet trade exhibition. British and international buyers will have the opportunity to learn more about Yora, an
innovative new kibble, which aims to revolutionise the market by fulfilling the demand for sustainable pet food. Yora enables dog owners to take the lead in giving their dog a nutritious, tasty food whilst having a positive impact on the environment.”
