A s a third-generation business, Woodmansterne understands the importance of family. It ’s fitting then that its latest range benefits the Greenfingers Charity which creates gardens in children’s hospices giving those receiving care and their families precious memories of time spent together in beautiful outdoor surroundings.

Buying, giving and sending greetings cards continues to result in a strong market estimated, in the UK, to be worth £1.54bn in 2021, a rise from £1.37bn in 2020, and continues to attract footfall in garden centres. The upward trajectory of sales recorded by GTN Bestsellers Epos data shows that garden retailers are enjoying a larger share of this expanding market with volume sales up 50% in the first half of 2021 and that increased sales volume being maintained during 2022. During Christmas, while many high street retailers are squeezing their selection in favour of festive greetings, garden centres cement their important place in the market by continuing to offer a full range of everyday cards. Christmas cards are an addition to the range rather than an alternative.

Supporting Greenfingers

The choice of everyday cards has been further extended this year with the introduction of a new selection of garden-inspired cards from Woodmansterne, the leading supplier of premium greeting cards to independent retailers. Having chosen the Greenfingers Charity as its new Platinum Partner, Woodmansterne is helping fund, through the sales of these cards plus other special events, magical and inspiring gardens for children and families who spend time in hospices across the UK.

Launched at Glee this year, the new cards feature floral imagery, garden scenes and endearing animals to portray the beauty of nature and importance of connecting with outdoor spaces. In garden centres, Greenfingers Charity cards can be merchandised in a Woodmansterne spinner with space for 48 designs. The selection can be complimented with cards from other hand-picked Woodmansterne best- selling ranges such as Emma Bridgewater and the National Trust which appeal to a garden centre audience.
