Who’s Who in The Cast GAVIN WAID (Bobby / Michael) is excited to be joining Garden Theatre in this beautiful production of A Class Act. Originally from Lake Wales, Gavin received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Central Florida, and his Masters of Music from the University of WisconsinMadison. Favorite past roles include the Baker (Into the Woods), Tobias Ragg (Sweeney Todd), and Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro). Gavin is honored to be able to perform with the Garden and would also like to thank – as always – his family and friends, near and far, for their constant love and unwavering support.
Who’s Who in The Production Team JOSEPH C. WALSH (Director) is an award-winning theatre director and educator who is thrilled to be a member of the Garden Theatre team. Most recently he served as the Artistic Director of Arlington Children’s Theatre in Arlington, MA and Wild Oats Productions in the UK. He was the Interim Director of Education at the White Plains Performing Arts Center where he also directed Ghost (starring Natalie Weiss and Steven Grant Douglas) and West Side Story. Joseph directed critically-acclaimed productions of Hairspray and Singin’ in the Rain for the Cork Opera House in Ireland. In 2013 Joseph collaborated with West End star Linzi Hateley to devise and direct Linzi Hateley: True Colors - Life Since Carrie at Saint James Theatre in London and 54 Below in New York, as well as the London revival of Love Story: The Musical, which was nominated for an Off-West End Award for Best Musical. Joseph directed the Off-Broadway premiere of Sonder at The Player’s Theatre and in London’s West End he served as Assistant Director on Coyote on a Fence and Resident Director on When Harry Met Sally (starring Molly Ringwald and Michael Landes). Joseph spent three seasons as the Touring Director for White Horse Theatre, the world’s largest touring educational theatre company, where his work was seen across Europe and Japan. ALEXANDER LaPLANTE (Apprentice Director) is happy to be joining the creative team as the first apprentice director! A recent graduate of Emerson College, his credits include, Stardust (Music Director), First Date (Music Director), Lucky Stiff (Assistant Director), and American Idiot (Director). He is proud and grateful to be behind the table helping out and learning how to work in this COVID world. BERT RODRIGUEZ (Music Director) is so happy to make music at the wonderful Garden Theatre! He most recently wrapped The Fantasticks at The Athens Theatre in Deland where he music directed Footloose, Gypsy, and A Christmas Carol in years prior. Last year he music directed the smash hit Marie and Rosetta at freeFall Theatre in St. Petersburg. He has musically helmed Mad Cow Theatre’s It Was A Very Good Year (and Yule) cabarets for the past 3 years, and was fortunate to music direct the regional premiere of Matilda at Theatre South Playhouse in 2019. He thoroughly enjoys working with the teens and youth at Theatre South Playhouse and Theater West End, dedicated to inspiring a passion for the Arts to the generation that will lead us into the future.
