Considering a Charitable Gift Annuity? These days there are so many good ways to generously support the charitable organizations important to you. One important and time-sensitive way for people 70 ½ comes to us through the SECURE 2.0 Act of 2023, which gives donors the opportunity to use a one-time distribution of up to $50,000 from an individual retirement account (IRA) to fund a charitable gift annuity (CGA) without any tax penalty.

What is a CGA, and how can it help me meet my financial and charitable goals?

A CGA is a contract between an individual donor and a charitable organization that allows an individual to financially support a nonprofit while establishing a lifetime fixed income that is sheltered from market fluctuations. Here’s how it works: a donor makes an irrevocable gift to fund the CGA, and in turn the charity pays the donor a set amount of monthly income for the remainder of their life. After the donor’s passing, the charity can then use the remaining assets to fund their programs and services. A CGA is a powerful way to create meaningful income for your retirement while also establishing a legacy that supports a charitable organization that is important to you. Would you like to know more? Your advisor can help you better understand if you’re eligible to take advantage of this time-sensitive opportunity. For more information, please contact Wendy Nagle at 6215 or Elyse Kauffman, Charitable Consultant at Everence, at 717.653.6662 Ext 4494 or email Elyse.Kauffman@ everence.com. Together, we can work to establish a fixed income stream for you while also creating a legacy gift for Garden Spot Village or another charity.

THANK YOU! Through 2023, volunteers opened their homes and hosted tours for nearly 285 groups of prospective residents. This doesn’t include the people who toured during our spring, summer and fall open houses. We could not connect with all of these people without you! Because of your kindness and welcoming spirit, people can’t wait to move to Garden Spot Village! As a result, we’ve introduced a 2024 Tour Guide and Home Tour Incentive. When you open your home or offer a personal tour for prospective residents, the Sales Department will enter your name into a drawing for a gift card to various businesses. W E L L N E S S DO MORE IN 2024 As we step into a new year, it’s natural to contemplate how to improve your well-being. Whether it’s through adopting healthy eating habits or committing to a regular exercise routine, the options to enhance lifestyle are endless. However, it’s essential to realize that well-being is more than a single facet of health. It’s about balancing our lives, from physical to mental wellness. This year, remember that the journey to wellbeing is a personal one. Embrace your individuality and create a lifestyle that feels authentic to you. Here our 7 tips to improve your well-being, aiming to inspire a healthier, more fulfilling life this year:

Lauren Graber, Director

JOIN US STARTING MONDAY JANUARY 8, 2024 TO HELP SET YOUR WELLNESS GOALS AND IMPROVE YOUR WELL-BEING Stop by the Wellness Center and meet the Wellness Team. We are here to guide you!

• Get enough sleep: Sleep is essential for overall well-being. Prioritizing restful sleep can do wonders for body and mind. Quality sleep strengthens the immune system, improves cognitive function, and regulates mood. • Stay active: Engaging in physical activity plays a key role in preserving a vibrant and joyful life. Regular exercise can work wonders in regulating mood, improving cardiovascular health, and boosting energy levels. The best part is that you don’t have to limit yourself to just one form of exercise.

• Eat a balanced diet: Overall well-being is greatly influenced by the food you eat. Make it a priority to include a variety of nutrient-packed foods in your diet, like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains. • Make time for self-care: It’s no secret that taking time for self-care is essential for maintaining well-being. By prioritizing activities that are relaxing, such as settling in with a good book, meditating, or being surrounded by nature, you can reset your mind and body.

• Cultivate positive relationships: Humans thrive on social connections. Whether spending time with a close friend or participating in group activities, positive relationships are essential for overall well-being. • Engage your mind: Mental stimulation is crucial for a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. Engage your mind by learning new things, exploring hobbies, and challenging yourself intellectually. Avoid excessive social media or TV consumption and prioritize activities like reading or playing brain games.

• Practice gratitude: Finally, practicing gratitude is a powerful and transformative tool for boosting well-being and happiness. It is not just about saying thank you but instead taking the time each day to reflect deeply and appreciate the countless blessings and positive aspects in your life.

I express my gratitude to nearly 300 residents who shared meals, welcomed me into their homes, and invited me to various community gatherings. Special thanks to those who included me in micro-community sessions, Bible studies, and informal group meetings. I appreciate those who welcomed me at church and everyone who took a moment to share their thoughts in passing. I moved back home a few weeks before Christmas and had the pleasure of enjoying my festive holiday decorations, celebrating Christmas, and reflecting on the end of an amazing year! Warm Regards, Lois Dostalik, GSC Transformational Architect
