DRESS CODE REMINDERS

As a reminder, we ask that everyone comply with our golf course dress code:

Members shall dress in a fashion befitting the surroundings and atmosphere provided in the setting of the Resort and Club. Guests shall also comply with the dress code requirements.

Golf Course: Appropriate golf attire required with access to the course. Collared shirts are required for gentlemen. Slacks, Bermuda-length shorts, skirts and skorts are allowed for men and women. Soft spikes or sneakers are required. Denim, gym or workout wear, yoga pants, and men’s untucked shirts are prohibited. Headwear is to be worn properly and forward facing. Any inappropriate attire may result in denial of access to golf facilities.

REPAIRING BALL MARKS

As golfers, a small amount of our time and attention can go a long way in helping to maintain high-quality playing conditions on the courses we play. Repairing ball marks on the putting greens is an easy way to make a positive impact, but the importance of ball mark repair and the proper tools and technique are often misunderstood. Click here to watch Jon Roth demonstrate how to properly repair your ball marks.

HERE ARE FIVE THINGS EVERY GOLFER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT REPAIRING BALL MARKS:

1. THE PROPER TECHNIQUE FOR BALL MARK REPAIR IS EASY AND FAST

Insert the ball mark repair tool behind the ball mark and gently push the top of the tool toward the center. Continue working around the ball mark, pushing the surrounding turf in toward the center of the indentation. Avoid using a lifting or twisting motion because this can damage turf roots. Once you have finished pushing turf in toward the center, gently tamp the area down with your putter to create a smooth, firm surface.

2. UNREPAIRED BALL MARKS CAUSE LASTING PROBLEMS

Failing to repair a ball mark may seem like a minor oversight, but there are lasting consequences. Unrepaired ball marks can take weeks to heal, during which time they can cause balls to bounce off line. The damage to the putting surface is also an entry point for weeds that can cause serious problems.

3. CERTAIN PUTTING GREENS ARE MORE VULNERABLE TO BALL MARKS THAN OTHERS

Any putting green that typically receives high, lofted approach shots will be more susceptible to ball marks. The putting greens on par-3 holes are a perfect example. If you recognize that a putting green is prone to damage from ball marks, it is important to be mindful of repairing your own ball mark and a few unrepaired ones nearby. When playing conditions are soft, be on the lookout for deep ball marks.

4. SOFT CONDITIONS MEAN MORE BALL MARKS

When putting greens are wet or soft, ball marks will be more of an issue. This is just one of the reasons why superintendents work hard to promote firm playing conditions with aeration, topdressing and other maintenance practices. If excessive thatch accumulates beneath the putting surface, ball marks and other turf issues will be more problematic.

5. ALMOST ANY POINTED TOOL CAN BE USED TO SUCCESSFULLY REPAIR A BALL MARK

Many different tools have been created to repair ball marks, including single-pronged and fork-shaped tools. Almost any pointed tool, including a golf tee, can be used to effectively repair a ball mark. Using the proper technique is the key to success. With the correct technique, almost any pointed tool can be used to successfully repair a ball mark.

Repairing ball marks is one of the easiest ways that golfers can help superintendents deliver high-quality playing conditions. After hitting a great shot onto the putting green, fixing your ball mark and a couple nearby is an excellent way to celebrate.

IN OUR COURT

TIP OF THE MONTH: BENEFITS OF STAYING RELAXED DURING PLAY

There are many times when players feel tight during a point, and this causes them to push through their shot or start to shortchange their strokes. When a player doesn’t allow themselves to relax, they begin to breathe shallow or possibly hold their breath. This is a common thing that may occur which leads to not only tiredness but incorrect technique. A few tips I like to instruct to help players reach their potential of playing relaxed is to focus on their breath work when training. Breathing in as the ball approaches their side of the court and exhaling after contact is made so that players breathe through their shots. Along with this is focusing on holding the grip softer while in their ready position. The use of the non-dominant hand is critical in holding the racquet in its ready position allowing your dominant hand a break. Lastly, have a routine to focus on after the point is complete as this will allow the brain to switch on/off after a point is finished. Many players go to the towel or fix their strings and turn to face the other direction after a point is over to refocus before the next point begins.

TRAIN SMARTER DURING

NATIONAL SAFETY MONTH

Form matters. Whether you’re lifting weights, trying TRX, or jumping into cardio circuits, proper technique reduces your risk of injury and maximizes performance. This month:

CELEBRATE GREAT OUTDOORS MONTH

Movement doesn’t stop at the studio doors. Incorporating nature into your fitness routine can:

• Boost vitamin D levels and mood.

• Reduce stress and support better sleep.

• Encourage active recovery between classes.

Try taking your Gentle Stretch & Balance routine to a park, or go for a post-class walk in fresh air.

SUPPORT YOUR HEADSPACE: MIGRAINE & HEADACHE

AWARENESS

Tension, dehydration, and poor recovery can contribute to migraines. This month, focus on:

• Hydration — Bring a reusable bottle and refill often.

• Restorative classes like Yin, Yoga Nidra , and MYOYIN to reduce tension and support nervous system balance.

• Breathwork and mindfulnes s as tools for prevention and recovery.

Your health is more than just workouts — it’s the full picture of how you move, rest, and care for yourself daily. Join us this month in supporting safer movement, outdoor energy, and total wellness. Let us know how we can support your goals!

MEN'S HEALTH MONTH

HOW CAN YOU LIVE LONGER AND BETTER?

While average life expectancy gives a general idea of how long you might live, personal factors—like smoking, obesity, diabetes, blood pressure, physical activity, and genetics—play a big role in both lifespan and living a vibrant life. People are living longer, but many are spending more years dealing with chronic conditions. For men, this growing gap is becoming a serious concern. There’s no magic pill to extend your vibrant life, but there are lifestyle changes that can help protect your chromosomes and slow the aging process. Think of it this way: lifespan adds years to life, and a healthy, vibrant life adds life to those years. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers several strategies that may help preserve telomeres and keep you healthier for longer, and Strata Med is here to help support you!

To learn more about how to not only add years to your life, but add life to those years, read the full blog written by Dr. Barber, Medical Director at Strata Med.

KEY SUPPLEMENTS FOR MEN

Dr. Candice Lynch, Naturopathic Doctor at Strata Med weighs in on how to power up your health with these science-backed supplements that support men’s energy, strength, heart, hormones, and healthy aging at every stage.

•Zinc: Keeps your immune system strong and supports testosterone, fertility, and muscle recovery.

•Creatine Monohydrate: Not just for the gym! Boosts muscle, brain power, and daily energy for men of all ages.

•Lycopene: A tomato powered antioxidant that helps protect your prostate and your heart.

•CoQ10: Energizes your heart and cells. Great for staying sharp and active, especially as you age.

•Saw Palmetto: Supports long term prostate health and hormone balance by helping you stay comfortable and confident at any age.

•Magnesium: Helps you relax, recover, and sleep better while supporting muscles, mood, and heart health

Read Dr. Lynch’s full Supplement Guide for men, women and people with allergies.

PREPARE FOR SUMMER WITH HEALTHY

HYDRATION

As we move into the summer heat and more outdoor activities, hydration is key. Two Strata Med’s expert clinicians tackle two hot hydration topics: Electrolyte Drinks and IV Therapy.

1. Electrolyte Drinks: Helpful Hydration or Just Hype?

Electrolyte drinks can be useful, but they're often overused. Many people consume them while eating high-sodium foods or without exercising—when electrolyte replacement isn’t needed. Some sports drinks are also highly processed, loaded with sugar, and add unnecessary liquid calories.

Bridget Nelson , Registered Dietician Nutritionist, offers the right times to use electrolytes as well as foods that are naturally high in electrolytes – read the full guide.

2. Why IV Therapy Matters in Colorado Springs

The dry, high-altitude climate of Colorado Springs can lead to dehydration and nutrient depletion—often without obvious symptoms. Connie Chen , Nurse Practitioner at Strata’s north location explains how IV therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, and minerals directly into the bloodstream for faster, more effective absorption than oral supplements. It’s a powerful way to support hydration, recovery, and overall wellness, especially when stress, travel, illness, or intense activity take a toll.

Make an IV Therapy appointment to stay ahead of de-hydration this summer! Call 719-749-3308 today.
