NEW YORK CITY

SALUT CARRIE!

Welcome to your personalized experience of New York City. These locations can be visited whenever you feel comfortable and ready to explore. For all three locations you should bring along a camera and headphones to listen to music.

The first destination that I have selected is Rockefeller Park. Within this park there are three specific sections that you will walk through that will remind you of your past experiences in Europe.

The second location of your experience is a walkway just over the East River called the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. This will give you a deeper connection to the city that you now live in as you are exposed to a panoramic view of Manhattan.

The third and final location is a street in Lower Manhattan labeled as Little Paris which will connect you to your future in France. Your experience will be similar to that of sitting at a Parisian café and viewing the people and city surrounding you.

The goal of this trip is to connect you to the cultures you love from within the city and give you peaceful places to photograph. I hope you enjoy your experience!

During our interview you shared with me your attraction to European parks and landscapes as they remind you of your trips with your family to Paris and Munich. At this location I want you to immerse yourself in the park and imagine you are back into these countries.

Take photos of your surroundings and reflect on your favorite memories with your family in Europe. The address listed above will direct you to the Tom Otterson Real World sculptures where you will begin and then walk south to the other two locations.

To access this location you will get to the north-most point of Battery Park city where you will find a garden of whimsical copper figures.

You will then walk south along the water’s edge until you reach the Irish Hunger Monument. Here you will have a stunning view of the WTC and water.

Continue south until you reach the Brookfeild Place center. Go to the south entrance and turn right where you will find a small French market.

On Centre St. between Broome and Grand, you will find a small collection of French stores and cafés. Grab a latte from Maman and sit on the small bench outside and enjoy the atmosphere. Pop into a couple of the French shops to do some shopping or snacking.

As you enjoy the shopping and dining, I recommend playing the album Eternelle by Edith Piaf to even further immerse yourself in the French experience.

Although it is under construction, the Old Police Headquarters building is inspired by the Paris City Hall. Admire the familiar

While you sit on the bench, picture yourself sitting along a street in Paris watching the bustle of the city move past you as you enjoy the coffee.

HEIGHTS PROMENADE

At Brooklyn Heights Promenade, I want to give you an opportunity to view the skyline of Manhattan from a special and serene perspective. It is my hope that this view gives you a deeper connection to the city that you now live in.

Sit on one of the many benches and take your time enjoying the elevated walkway and your surroundings. Bring your camera and capture what interests you. I would recommend this experience at sunset, however if you don’t feel safe or

To access this location you will want to get on Remsen St. and walk all the way to the west-most point where you will find the enterance to the walkway.

If you have them, I would recommend bringing binoculars. Look around for wildlife like birds or mice. Become more aware of your senses and feelings.

Try to spot familiar locations and the Statue of Liberty. Look over the metal at the cars driving underneath you on the Brooklyn-Queens Expy.
