LEARNING TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN A SYSTEM

OF MLM (MULTI-LEVEL) NETWORKS AND THE NEFARIOUS AND ILLEGAL PYRAMIDS.

In the world, some pyramid schemes are disguised as direct selling companies. A pyramid is illegal, constitutes fraud and can represent the loss of a person's wealth and the undermining of a family's finances. It is important to learn to differentiate between a multi-level system and a pyramid.

Multilevel is recognised and academically studied in the world as a fair and equitable sales channel, in which the profit is distributed among all the actors who sell a PRODUCT or GOOD, through marketing networks. Pyramids, on the other hand, are based on the massive collection of money, without the authorisation of the competent national authority. It focuses on the recruitment of people for whom a value is paid. In this scheme, a few gain at the expense of those at the bottom. At a certain point, the pyramid cannot be sustained and collapses, harming many people. In pyramids, people have a price. In pyramids, the centre of the business is not the product or the good, it is the people.

A) - SMALL ENTRANCE FEE

In Direct Selling, there is no "easy money" or "become a millionaire overnight"; it all depends on the effort and business management that people put into it.

E) - RECOGNITION OF EFFORT

Success depends on effort. This means that the income of a self-employed entrepreneur is proportional to his or her commitment, effort and dedication to his or her own business. The one who is at the centre of the network is not necessarily the one who earns the most, as it all depends on his or her daily management.

The pyramid business forces people to pay high entry fees and periodically, in order to continue participating. They raise money on a massive scale, sometimes by selling "intangibles", without any authorisation from local authorities. When a pyramid falls, the first ones to enter get to keep everything, at the cost of the economic loss, even of the assets of those at the bottom of the pyramid, i.e. the last ones to enter. It is difficult to presume who "are those first".

Promoters of a pyramid scheme commit fraud by deliberately misleading scheme participants. Pyramid schemes have been outlawed in many countries around the world. They are businesses that do not pay taxes and are not legally established in a country. They harm the state and the whole community. They are usually promoted through the internet, social media and word-of-mouth advertising. At meetings they promote non-compliance with laws, claiming that they were made to "take" money from people. In pyramid schemes targeting WOMEN, they are asked not to tell their husbands and other family members that they are joining this "fair and supportive" system.
