Dear Supporters and Friends,
As we reflect on the accomplishments of Gang Alternative, Inc. (GA) in 2024, we stand at a pivotal moment in our history, with this April marking 20 years of service to the underserved communities of South Florida. This past year has been defined by significant progress — we continue to expand our programs, deepen our impact, and build a future grounded in hope and empowerment, all by God’s grace.
Since our founding, GA has remained steadfast in our commitment to breaking the cycles of poverty, violence, and injustice impacting so many in our community. Over the past 19 years, we have touched the lives of thousands, providing life-changing programs and services that support youth, families, and individuals on their journeys to self-sufficiency. Our work has been driven by the core values of servant leadership, compassion, and a relentless pursuit of positive change.
In every step of this journey, we have seen God’s hand at work. Scripture tells us in Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
As we approach our 20th anniversary, we know the work God began through GA is far from finished. We are deeply grateful for the many lives we’ve touched, and we trust that the work we’ve done, with His guidance, will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
From workforce development initiatives equipping hundreds of adults with skills for stable careers to our prevention programs empowering youth to make healthier choices, we have seen the transformative power of holistic support. Our collaborative efforts with local partners, schools, and community organizations have enabled us to expand our reach and further strengthen the fabric of communities we serve.
As we look ahead to celebrating two decades of service in April, we do so with great anticipation, knowing the best is yet to come. There is still much work to do, and with God’s provision and guidance, we are more committed than ever to serving those in need.

Programs under our Positive Youth Development pillar engage young people in their homes, schools, and communities by offering services and activities aligned with the Jesus Model: that of serving, helping, respecting, uplifting, and inspiring. Our programs and community sites provide a safe space for children and youth to learn, grow, and fellowship without fear of judgment, discrimination, or harassment.

Our approach to health and wellness is premised on scripture’s holistic take on every aspect of our personalities, being, and thoughts, all of which influence our intentions and actions:

In observance of National Family Day, GA organized a series of family dinners in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties aimed at creating and strengthening family connections. Families came together to share a meal and play games while learning how strong family bonds, including routine dinners together, can help deter youth from making risky decisions.

GA’s reentry program assists individuals involved in the justice system with rebuilding their lives through access to job training, industry-recognized credentials, case management, and supportive services that support self-sufficiency and reduce recidivism.

BUILDING CHARACTER, ACHIEVING SUCCESS
JUNIXSY’S STORY
Serving a sentence at a correctional institution, Junixsy aspired to re-enter the workforce and better her life.
Her plan: Reinstate her business, which facilitated shipping of vehicles across states. GA helped Junixsy steer back onto the road to success by paying the fee to reinstate her business and providing other support services.
Able to resume her entrepreneurial efforts, Junixsy now earns between $1,000 and $1,500 weekly and anticipates increased income as her business grows.
DWAYNE’S STORY
After returning home from incarceration, Dwayne wasted no time taking control of his future. Just one day after his release, he enrolled in a workforce development program at GA and began working with a case manager to map out his goals.
Motivated and focused, Dwayne and his case manager created a customized plan to help him reintegrate into the workforce and gain the skills needed to succeed.
With support from GA, Dwayne completed commercial driver’s license training and earned his forklift certification. In just a few months, he secured full-time employment in South Florida, putting his training to use and thriving in his new role.
Today, Dwayne is not only working—he’s thriving. His story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible with the right support, determination, and a second chance.
BUILDING CHARACTER, ACHIEVING SUCCESS
DOREEN’S STORY
Doreen’s introduction to GA’s Street Outreach Team marked the start of a compelling and fulfilling new chapter in her life.
Doreen was struggling to maintain her independence while also trying to help her sibling overcome homelessness.
GA immediately recognized Doreen’s strong background in finance and provided tools and resources to her to confidently pursue her passion. That included reworking her resume to highlight her strengths. It worked.
Doreen garnered increased interest from employers, and she quickly landed a full-time position as a financial analyst. In her new role working in the public sector, Doreen has been able to apply her financial expertise to contribute meaningfully to her community.
She is furthering her education at a local college while enjoying the financial freedom, quality of life, and emotional security she sought for herself and her sibling.
KANAYA’S STORY
When Kanaya was released from a residential reentry program, he lacked resources to successfully enter the workplace. GA provided Kanaya support services, and helped him discover the perfect career for him.
With a personalized career plan derived from comprehensive evidence-based assessments, Kanaya’s path led to commercial truck driving.
GA paid his tuition to attend a local trucking school, and Kanaya was ultimately hired to drive big rigs for a respected and established local company.
Better yet, he paid it forward. Kanaya has advocated for applicants at his workplace who, like him, have benefitted from GA. He is in the process of applying for a business license to manage his own trucking company.
