MASTERPLAN

Traditional roofing materials often contribute to the UHI effect by reflecting and amplifying heat CSEB roofs, being composed of natural earth materials, typically have lower reflectivity compared to conventional roofing materials This can reduce the amount of heat that is reflected back into the atmosphere

CSEB arch roofs can be designed to incorporate passive cooling techniques such as natural ventilation, shading These techniques can reduce reliance on mechanical cooling systems and contribute to lower overall urban temperatures

Ventilation: The curved shape of a arch roof allows for better natural ventilation and air circulation This can help dissipate heat more effectively and create microclimates with lower temperatures around the building Additionally, allowing hot air to rise and exit while cooler air enters from below

Earth is a local material and the soil should preferably be extracted from the site itself or not transported from too far away Labour costs for CSEB production amount to 40 to 45% of the total cost This promotes endogenous development It is a cost and energy effective material The embodied energy of CSEB is 10 7 times less than country fired brick

To design a 150 bedded hospital and provide multispecialty healthcare services comprising of medical clinic, orthopedic, eye clinic, ent, dental, gynecology, pediatric and general medicines

The pace and intensity of changes are greater in hospitals than in any other building, the challenge is to design a flexible hospital to suit its needs considering the services and spatial requirements rigidity in between spaces present contribute in maintaining healing environment

L O C A T I O N

The proposed site is in the hubli-dharwad region

The city of Hubli lies in southern India, in the state of Karnataka

FIGURE GROUND

The area is built with residential buildings all around the site, the sites major and highest buildings were towards east most of the building near the site are maximum double floored height

CANAL NETWORK

OPEN SPACE NETWORK

The site is connected to open spaces and park through the canals and highway

The unkal lake is the major water channels the site is surrounded by canals from north, west, and south direction Near the site there is tolankere lake water supply from HDMC water tank

STREET PATTERN

R-network constitutes the frame of the city. it is also the carrier of the most social economic activities

OUTER ZONE

Areas that are immediately accessible to the public: emergency service, outpatient service, and administrative service. They are located near the entrance of the hospital

SECOND ZONE

Areas that receive workload from the outer zone: laboratory, pharmacy, and radiology They are located near the outer zone

INNER ZONE

Areas that provide nursing care and management of patients: nursing service. They are located in private areas but accessible to relatives

DEEP ZONE

Areas that require asepsis to perform the prescribed services: surgical service, delivery service, nursery, and intensive care They are segregated from the public areas but accessible to the outer, second and inner zones

SERVICE ZONE

Areas that provide support to hospital activities: dietary service, housekeeping service, maintenance and motor pool service, and mortuary. They are located in areas away from normal traffic.

vertical movement is located at the focal point of the building OPDs and diagnostics kept in lower to floors to avoid unnecessary traffic on upper floors system of corridors interlinking areas parking is provided in the basement

How can a building improve the quality of our life? if I think and look at physical world whether it's our body or plants, grass, planets etc The physical universe is all about geometry, how long something stands or how well something functions physically is only a question of geometry

Shapes and forms, space has a significant impact on people the atmosphere they live in is very important, if I want to somehow live and die ,i can live anywhere but if I want to thrive really then it is important how and what kind of space, I live in.

Udupi is situated within the western ghats in the east and Arabian sea in the west It is one of the 3 coastal districts of Karnataka Udupi has mainly 3 subdivisions; Kundapura, Karkala and Udupi the proposed site comes in udupi subdivision

Site area: 42,164 sqm

FAR:3

Total built up area:126,492sqm

Ground coverage: 45% ie,18,973 sqm

TOPOGRAPHY: Both drainage and visibility pattern can be seen. The site has an 8m contour level

SLOPE: 1:30 ratio is seen as steepness

LANDFORM: The site consists of trees and water pond, there is no uniform slope is seen in the site.

The idea for this project is if you like to throw the vertical into the horizontal and stack or interlock a series of building blocks creating a bond on top of each other with a fairly dramatic topography in themselves, views to the outside surrounding landscape and also inside development
